Another One Bites The Dust

We now have an:

 * acting Homeland Security Secretary
* acting Defense Secretary
* acting Interior Secretary
* acting chief of staff

 If only we had someone acting like a President.

Kirstjen Nielsen Resigns as Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary

 WASHINGTON — Kirstjen Nielsen, the homeland security secretary, resigned on Sunday after meeting with President Trump, ending a tumultuous tenure in charge of the border security agency that had made her the target of the president’s criticism.

 “I have determined that it is the right time for me to step aside,” Ms. Nielsen said in a resignation letter. “I hope that the next secretary will have the support of Congress and the courts in fixing the laws which have impeded our ability to fully secure America’s borders and which have contributed to discord in our nation’s discourse.”

 Ms. Nielsen had requested the meeting to plan “a way forward” at the border, in part thinking she could have a reasoned conversation with Mr. Trump about the role, according to three people familiar with the meeting. She came prepared with a list of things that needed to change to improve the relationship with the president.

 Mr. Trump in recent weeks had asked Ms. Nielsen to close the ports of entry along the border and to stop accepting asylum seekers, which Ms. Nielsen found ineffective and inappropriate. While the 30-minute meeting was cordial, Mr. Trump was determined to ask for her resignation. After the meeting, she submitted it."

NYTimes:
"Donald Trump flew into a rage on Twitter just hours after Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned as the New York Times reports that he often raged at her for telling him he can’t break the law.

 Trump has been making demands and threats for months over a border crisis he manufactured and is only making worse by redeploying border patrol agents away from ports of entry, thus making lines longer and migrants more desperate."

Shaw... I for will give any president space to fire aides, or cabinet secretary's who he/she feel are not doing the job. It took Grant a lot of firings to get his generals right during the Civil War.

What troubles me more is that the replacements have not been vetted by the Senate. A Republican Senate. It's as if he's saying to everyone, we don't need to stand for the approval process, I know these folks and trust them. Just like in the private sector.

That's a dangerous place to be. Especially for an elected official like the pres.

And extremely so when the President, ANY president, has the character (lack of) of DJT.

He is truly a clear and present danger to our democratic republic.

Unlike other presidents, trump actually wants people to do their job or lose it. For those who have not worked in the private sector and been accountable for their performance this is a strange and new concept.
Most of our elected elite have no work experience and have not had to meet a payroll or produce anything so they can't understand Just so we are clear, I don't think working at a community picnic a job so that leaves one ex-politician out.

Jeebus H. Crackers, skud! Do you only listen to FAUX NOOZ? You're beginning to sound like a TrumpCultist. Do you listen to or read anything except TrumpNOOZ?

Read this and try to understand that Nielson was fired because SHE WOULDN'T BREAK THE LAW! AS trump WANTED HER TO:

The law-and-order façade has been crumbling for a long time. But the firing of Kirstjen Nielsen as secretary of DHS truly reveals how little Trump or his party actually care about the law at all.

In recent months, Trump has not bothered to conceal his impatience for legal niceties. He has publicly mocked the idea that courts should oversee asylum hearings (“Get rid of judges”), and claimed unilateral authority to spend federal money on border fencing despite being denied authorization by Congress. Reporting on Nielsen’s departure shows that her central disqualification was an unwillingness to violate the law.

In your mind you really think that Generals Mattis, McMaster, and Kelly didn't know how to do their jobs? But the man who spent his entire life cheating people, including his wives and mistresses, and who lies on a daily basis is the best person to run this country?

As for your last swipe at President Obama (our last decent president), in your cramped little TrumpWorld, apparently working for a law firm doesn't qualify as work? And working with disadvantaged people to help lift them and their community doesn't qualify as work either? Go tell that to Christian missionaries (Hello, Dave M.!) all over the world. Okay?

You are in a bad way, skud. Open your heart and eyes to what's in front of your nose. Why do you feel compelled to denigrate a good man, Barack Obama, every time you come here?
