Here's something you don't see every day:

Principled Republicans.

(NOTE to RN: They DO exist. You're not alone.)

Number 1:

Iowa's longest-serving GOP lawmaker joins the Democrats because of Trump

"He sets, in my opinion, a poor example for the nation and particularly for our children by personally insulting -- often in a crude and juvenile fashion -- those who disagree with him, being a bully at a time when we we are attempting to discourage bullying, his frequent disregard for the truth and his willingness to ridicule or marginalize people for their appearance, ethnicity or disability," McKean said."

Washington(CNN) "The Iowa Legislature's longest-serving Republican announced Tuesday that because of President Donald Trump, he will be joining the Democratic Party, calling Trump "a poor example for the nation and particularly for our children." State Rep. Andy McKean, who has served in both Iowa's Senate and House chambers, identified with the Republican Party for 35 years before Tuesday's announcement and is the longest-serving Republican in the state's Legislature today, according to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee.

'With the 2020 president election looming on the horizon, I feel as a Republican that I need to be able to support the standard bearer of our party. Unfortunately, that is not something I am able to do,' McKean said at a news conference."

He had to quit the Republican party and become a Democrat to become principled. Unless other Republicans do the same, they still have no principles.

Yes there are principled republicans, unfortunately a great many are not. As for the party leadership nationally, well, lets just say I've not been comfortable with them for over a decade. In fact it is why I chose to leave the party about 12 years ago. I will NOT be returning.

For the record, I will NOT be joining the democratic party any time soon either. My aversion to party politics has grown so deep that being a full blown political loner is more acceptable to me. My conscience demands I join NO party in the future. I suppose you could say I'm just too damned independent. I've never been a perfect fit into any box.

What is important is truth, character, integrity, and honesty. To HELL with parties.

The most important task facing Americans in the next 19 months is to DEFEAT >the most corrupt lying politician that has ever sat in the Oval Office in the modern era.

True, homosexuals are human beings
and they most definitely deserve
respect (without a doubt)... yet,
HOW they have sex is an abomination
as o'BOMBa could tell you: not
everyone goes to Seventh-Heaven, dear.
God bless you.

But does anyone really care about a state legislator from Iowa.
"the most corrupt lying politician" That is really a stretch but it does depend on what modern era defines. Nixon, Johnson, Clinton can all be considered to be lying and corrupt jt's in the pre internet days.

I do agree with you les that I will remain an independent and if the democrat party come up with suitable candidate to run against trump I would vote democrat. With all of the ones they have running it is truly a scary bunch who's only claim is to out give the next. Trump is bad for the country but the democrats are worse in that they have no ideas.

If you live in Ohio and Michigan the illegals crossing the border takes on little significance but if you live in a border state you need to be concerned. Even Mass is overrun with those pesky Canadians so middle states are the place to be.

Skud, you missed the point.

PS Massachusetts is not overrun by Canadians.
