As the Buddha famously said (paraphrased)... do not believe something because i tell you it is so, experience it for yourself firstultimate authority. It serves the church elders and hierarchy well, as well as nefarious politicians (think Trump et all of the MAGAverse) and religious charlatans.
Sad to say but I haven't been back to mass since the priest delivered a sermon saying it was a sin to vote for Biden. Then the guy went on to deny science as he was speaking into a microphone that sent a signal through an amplifier and speakers so we could hear his nonsense.

I never listen to any priest, or any clergy for that matter, who lectures on morality and politics. Ever!
I was, however, in a church last night -- a Uni-Uni -- to enjoy a live concert of Broadway Show songs and a concert pianist.
