IF YOU OFFEND THE REGIME, THE REGIME WILL COME AFTER YOU.

This is what Jimmy Kimmel said:

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving. On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half staff which got some criticism but on a human level you can see how hard the president is taking this.”

After Stephen Colbert's late-night show was cancelled, Trump gleefully said he would go after Jimmy Kimmel and other late-night comedians who criticize him and who he dislikes. Well, he's done it. This is a clear-cut case of the government (under Trump) shutting down free speech, through threats:

NYTIMES: 'The largest operator of ABC affiliates, Nexstar—which needs FCC approval for a $6.2 billion merger—said it would stop airing Kimmel’s show from its stations. Then ABC suspended Kimmel’s show.

Benny Johnson, the podcaster on whose show Carr threatened Kimmel, was one of the influencers Russian state media funded to spread propaganda before the 2024 election. After Kimmel’s suspension, Johnson posted on social media: “We did it for you, Charlie. And we’re just getting started.”

FCC Chairman, Brenden Carr:

Thomas Paine considered free speech essential for self-government and the pursuit of truth, linking liberty directly to the right to express ideas, question authority, and foster dialogue, even when that expression might cause offense.
He advocated for the freedom to speak one's mind, seeing it as a cornerstone of democracy and a protection for both truth and progress.

Paine believed that free speech was fundamental to a truly democratic and self-governing society. Citizens needed the liberty to express their thoughts openly without fear of suppression to hold governments accountable. He argued that the free exchange of ideas was necessary for truth to prevail. Silencing opinions, even those considered false, was seen as an act of infallibility that robbed humanity of the chance to distinguish truth from error.

If any American approves of what the Trump Regime has done to the 1st Amendment, do not consider yourself an America, because supporting what Trump has done is NOT American.

Throughout history, this is what every tyrant who's gained political power has done upon seizing that power. The tyrant crushes, through soft or hard force, anything that threatens his power, including voices that disagree with him and voices that tell the objective truth.

If the American people don't rise up against the tyrant, Trump, we're going to lose more than our freedom of speech, we're on our way to losing everything.

Welcome to the punishment side of politics.

Categories of speech that are given lesser or no protection by the First Amendment (and therefore may be restricted) include obscenity, fraud, child pornography, speech integral to illegal conduct, speech that incites imminent lawless action, speech that violates intellectual property law, true threats.

Kimmel's speech violated none of that.

Trump and his thugs violated the 1st Amendment.

Please name any other POTUS who's done what Trump's Regime has done. I tried to research it, and have come up with nothing that approaches what has happened.

Shaw... it's interesting. The Trump Admin, Benny Johnson and the rest of the MAGA supporters are claiming Kimmel lied in trying to characterize the shooter as MAGA.

Fair enough. I don't agree, but I can see where ppl could interpret it as such.

Which brings me to a question...

Is lying publicly about events in our country always wrong? Or only wrong when someone in power doesn't like it?

It just seems ironic to me that the biggest group of White House liars we've had in our lifetimes are beside themselves because someone theoretically lied. Something they do each and everyday, under cover of Constitutional immunity.

I guess free speech is truly dead. Some "celebrity" who is employed by a private company makes a truly disgusting comment and he gets fired. It was not trump who caused kimmel to be fired it was kimmel and his inappropriate and incorrect comment. Now had his show been profitable ABC would have thought different. Like the other late nite political action show that got fired because they were costing the stations millions and believe it or not they are in business to make a profit. I know profit is disgusting and companies are in business for their employees.

You're completely incorrect again, skud. Trump was gleeful in announcing that Kimmel is off the air. It is Trump's right to act like a junior high school mean girl and fool, that's not against the law. But Trump couldn't let his schadenfreude end there, he rubbed his grimey little hands together an said Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers are next. Why would the clown say that? Those two late-night hosts haven't said or done anything wrong:

"Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible," he continued, before taking aim at late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.

TRUMP: "That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJ."

So, you see, skud, you willfully will not look at the truth of what is happening in America. Could that be because you refuse to see what's in front of your nose? I get it. It's easier to make excuses and make stuff up than to see reality.

Keep telling yourself that it was normal business to take Kimmel off the air just after he gave his opinion on the Kirk murder.

PS. Here's Charlie Kirk, again, in his own "disgusting and inappropriate" words:
He told his listeners on his Turning Point broadcast that, “...you have a government that hates you, you have a traitor as the president,” so they should “buy weapons” and carry them around all the time in public in case they have to fight back.

Kirk called for former president Joe Biden to be put in prison, to be sent to Guantanamo Bay, even to be given the death penalty, just as he repeatedly urged that, if his side took power, they should launch criminal investigations into other prominent Democrats."

That's who Trump and MAGAland is sanctifying as some sort of saintly inspirational "free speech" hero.

I'm pretty sure neither you nor most people lionizing Kirk know much about what he promoted.

Righto skudsie. The subservient need their authoritarian regime to feel justified in their unyielding support for a moronic authoritarian fascist dictator.

Well, ya finally got your ignorant strong lady tRump to lead the nation to ruin. Hope yer happy.

No Skud, you are wrong again. Disney and ABC were going to hold the line on Kimmel until they were pressured by the head of the FCC [part of the Trump Admin] who has the power to approve or block a proposed multi billion dollar merger between Sinclair, Nexstar, Disney and ABC.

It is interesting isn't it Skud... on FOX News, an actual newsman, as opposed to a comedian, said we should just kill, by lethal injection, homeless people while his news co-hosts looed on saying nothing, registering no disapproval. He still has his job and was never suspended.

Yet our White House, the Trump FCC has no problem with that? You have no problem with that?

BTW... just this week, 2 homeless encampments this week in MN, the state where a MAGA supporter murdered a state legislator and her husband in their house, were attacked by gunmen.

You think there's any chance those gunmen were encouraged by the words of the FOX News hosts?

When your posts rarely rise above the level of the anonymous losers here, we get worried. But you seem to desire entry into the "you people" category of trolls and willfully ignorant ppl.
