Trump’s job market promises fall flat as hiring collapses and inflation ticks up
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. job market has gone from healthy to lethargic during President Donald Trump’s first seven months back in the White House, as hiring has collapsed and inflation has started to climb once again as his tariffs take hold.
Friday’s jobs report showed employers added a mere 22,000 jobs in August, as the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.3%. Factories and construction firms shed workers. Revisions showed the economy lost 13,000 jobs in June, the first monthly losses since December 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new data exposed the widening gap between the booming economy Trump promised and the more anemic reality of what he’s managed to deliver so far.

Trump chose between competence and loyalty, and ended up with a vile and subservient cabinet, one of the dumbest since Warren G. Harding. We shouldn't be surprised at the incompetence on display at the RFK, Jr., hearing the other day.
At his 2024 rallies, Trump promised to end inflation (and the Russia/Ukraine war) on day one and halve electricity rates within 12 months. Consumer prices have climbed from a 2.3% annual increase in April to 2.7% in July. Electricity costs are up 4.6% so far this year.
Am I being too kind by saying maybe Trump lied? And this is Trump just being his carnival barker/snake oil salesman self?

But the real numbers that I'm talking about are going to be whatever it is. You’re seeing, I think you’ll see job numbers that are absolutely incredible. Right now it’s a lot of construction numbers, but you’re going to see job numbers like our country has never seen before.”

Pondering why the very people who refuse to wear a mask during an epidemic favor ICE men in masks. A couple of them comment here and may be able to explain?

You can bet that if the job numbers turn around it won't be because of anything he did.
No BB, they won't explain. That's not their style. It's best for them to never actually take a stand on anything and just sit back and throw shade, keeping their options open.
That way if they need to fine tune that snark to another view, for instance, the Epstein files, they can make it happen.
