WE ARE ALREADY THERE

I tried to put up a post about this unprecedented attack on our American democracy by the criminal president of the US, but I kept having trouble with my PC. So, I'm greatful to Dave Miller for his insights (which were the same as mine) on this serious attack on the rule of law by Trump and his toadies. This is how authoritarian regimes operate, and any American who celebrates this assault on our democracy isn’t worthy of being called an American.

 DAVE MILLER:

As we think about this case, here's a few things to consider...

1. There are over 100 lawyers in the Virginia Federal Prosecutors office. The former US Atty in the office resigned, rather than follow orders of non lawyer President Trump to get an indictment of Comey. That US Atty has stated there was no sufficient evidence to charge Comey.

2. None of the other more than 100 lawyers were willing to charge the case, because of a lack of evidence,

3. Trump's new US Atty in Virginia, as yet, only acting and not confirmed by the US Senate, has no, not some, no prosecutorial experience and has never in her life tried a case. Not one.

4. Trumps new US Atty in Virginia has worked in insurance law, not criminal law.

5. The Virginia office brought the charges over the objection of the entire office. How do we know this? US Attys do not sign charging documents, which Trump's appointee did in this case. Further, not a single other lawyer in the office signed on to this document, signaling a complete lack of support from the career lawyers at the Virginia office.

6. Trump, in violation of over 50 years of precedent, after Nixon tried to politicize the DOJ, has inserted himself into the process, personally overruled Sr DOJ lawyers and continues to try and influence and impact he case through his statements and social media accts.

This is a mess for the USA.

But... Trump and his cronies, including folks at the Mothership are ecstatic. Because in their minds, finally someone on the right will experience the full weight of a weaponized US government, as they believe those on the right have been living with since Nixon.

“BREAKING: President Trump just accused former President Obama of treason and said he should face justice.

Let that sink in.

The sitting U.S. President is threatening to prosecute his predecessor like a dictator and his base is foaming at the mouth for it.”

As usual... Trump knows nothing. Even if we take what I am sure is Trump's understanding of our enemies, which at least according to the Mothership, includes people like me, Shaw and RN, the charge of treason does not matter unless we are at war.

That's why us lefties have not charged Trump with treason. Because the supposed crimes do not rise to the level of treason just because you can't stand the other guy.

Trump and his actions continue to embarrass the US. I'm sure he can find a lackey to charge Obama, as he did Comey. But I am sure that case will also be, just like the Comey case will soon be, summarily dismissed for lack of standing, lack of evidence, sloppy lawfare and more.

But that's the issue isn't it? The right is not a fan of evidence, as shown over the 2000 elections. They know what they know, regardless. They're still mad none of their more than 60 cases alleging fraud were found to have merit or evidence. Despite Mayor Rudy admitting "We have no evidence".

The current right does not care about law and order, evidence or by extension, the Constitution unless in the moment, it benefits them.

Go ahead Skud, -FJ, Joe et al, in the words of Charlie Kirk... Prove me wrong!

The case against Comey is totally fake (more lies from the liar in chief)
But bent on revenge, he will send him a case of Tylenol.

Trump complains that Democrats went after him so that justifies what he’s doing to Comey. The difference here is that Trump actually broke the law.

I was absolutly WRONG. I now feel I must absolutely apologize. Trump is most certainly far from usless.

He knew well how to be used as the usefull idiot by rightwing think tanks (Birchers, Heritage Foundation etc ) that have wanted to destroy democracy and turn the USA government into a fascist authoritarian one for years>/b>.

When the idiot FOTUS is gone the stench of Project 2025 and fascist authoritarianism, as well as the damage down, will remain for years if not decades.

And nothing will happen with any of these allegations. This is all about trump seeking retaliation against the people who indicted him then looked for a reason so they got him for his accountants cheating on his taxes, guess he shouldn't have signed them.

Apparently Skud, you don’t know how one gets indicted, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted what you did.

A person is indicted after a grand jury decides there is probable cause to believe they committed a crime, based on evidence presented by the prosecutor.

When Trump was indicted for his crimes, prosecutors didn’t “ go looking for a reason” and then just made one up. The reason for the indictment was presented to the grand jury, and then the grand jury found that there was probable cause to believe Trump committed a crime, and the jury found that he did, after reviewing the evidence.

You’ve commented several times that “everyone in business cheats like Trump did, so he shouldn’t have been found guilty for the fraud he committed.”

One has to wonder if you would have been so eager to overlook the crime of fraud that Trump was found guilty of had it been, say, Kamala Harris, and not Trump.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you would’ve wanted her to be punished to the full extent of the law if she had done what Trump did.
