Brutish Trump Regime Separates Children From Their Parents

Can you think of a more barbarous treatment than ripping children from their families and putting them in detention camps? That treatment is the very definition of state terrorism -- separating children from their families.

In one of several misleading tweets during the holiday weekend, Trump pushed Democrats to change a “horrible law” that the president said mandated separating children from parents who enter the country illegally. 

But there is no law specifically requiring the government to take such action, and it’s also the policies of his own administration that have caused the family separation that advocacy groups and Democrats say is a crisis. Some might call “misleading” a “lie,” and in this case the lie is Trump trying to pin barbaric actions on a nonexistent law. 

This policy of taking children away from their parents and then rubbing salt on the wounds by prosecuting them is the creation of the Trump administration, and absolutely no one else despite his frantic tweeting.



As he detailed the “zero-tolerance” policy during a pair of appearances May 7, Attorney General Jeff Sessions stressed: 

“If you don’t want your child separated, then don’t bring them across the border illegally. It’s not our fault that somebody does that.” “My decision has been that anyone who breaks the law will be prosecuted,” 

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in Senate testimony earlier this month. “If you’re a parent, or you’re a single person, or you happen to have a family, if you cross between the ports of entry, we will refer you for prosecution. You’ve broken U.S. law.” 

 Fact check: the administration is also separating families who have followed U.S. law by seeking asylum at U.S. ports of entry. One asylum-seeker identified as “Mr. U” entered with his 13-year-old son at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, only to be detained in California as his son was shipped off to Illinois. 

“All I can remember is how much my son and I were both crying when they took him away,”

Two graduates of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., penned an op-ed in The Baltimore Sun questioning President Trump's suitability to deliver the commencement speech to this year's graduating class of midshipmen on Friday. 

"It is right and fitting that the president of the United States give a commencement address to a service academy’s graduating class," Daniel Barkhuff and William Burke wrote in Wednesday's edition of the paper. "It is also right and fitting that citizens of the democracy for which these graduates will soon be charged with protecting point out the personal cowardice, narcissism and incompetency of the current president." 

Barkhuff and Burke graduated from the Academy in 2001. They now work at Veterans for Responsible Leadership. 

They wrote of the sacrifices made by various Naval Academy graduates, such as Sen. John McCain, over the years. 
"Contrast this to the personal and professional honor of the sitting president of the United States, who time and again makes small choices guided by self-interest, ego, impulse and immediate self-gratification," they wrote. "He could never do what we ask our U.S. Naval Academy graduates to do. He is a physical coward, a liar and no leader at all." .....

I know that the NFL is a private corporation (that also receives subsidies from US taxpayers, so they are federally subsidized). I understand that players have to conform to the rules and regs of what the team owners set out in the players' contracts.

But I didn't know that the American people would be dumb enough to vote for a POTUS who suggests that Americans who protest an injustice should be thrown out of their own country. I expect to hear those anti-American words from Communist dictators, authoritarians, and strongmen. But those words came out of the mouth of a man who knows nothing about being an American  or what makes America great.

In March, Trump spontaneously accepted an offer, conveyed to him by a South Korean envoy, to meet directly with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. North Korea has sought a one-on-one meeting with a sitting American president for years, believing it would legitimate it as a global power, but previous administrations have refused. “No American president has ever agreed to meet a North Korean leader before because that is a huge concession in and of itself,” Robert Kelly, a political science professor at South Korea’s Pusan National University,

Three weeks away from a summit that may or may not actually happen, reports show a president terrifyingly unprepared for high-stakes diplomacy. After being conciliatory for several weeks, Kim Jong-un has started pushing back against the United States, exactly as experts predicted he would. “Mr. Trump’s aides have grown concerned that the president — who has said that ‘everyone thinks’ he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts — has signaled that he wants the summit meeting too much,” David Sanger reported in The New York Times. 

The U.S. government has even issued a commemorative coin about the summit featuring Trump and “Supreme Leader” Kim Jong-un face-to-face, signaling to the world that it’s now the American president who craves legitimation from the North Korean dictator.

Dimitrios Pagourtzis, Texas Shooting Suspect, Posted Neo-Nazi Imagery Online 

Before allegedly killing at least 8 people, he apparently posted online images of a Nazi medal, a musician favored by the alt-right, and a “born to kill” t-shirt.

Dimitrios Pagourtzis, the suspected gunman who opened fire at a Texas high school on Friday morning, apparently posted photos of neo-Nazi iconography online, according to social media accounts flagged by classmates and reviewed by The Daily Beast. 

 Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said the suspect was a 17-year-old male student at Santa Fe High School where 10 people were killed. The suspect was taken into custody, Trochesset told reporters. Explosive devices were left inside the school near Houston, authorities said. The suspect reportedly had an assault-style rifle, shotgun, and pistol.
