One of the Planet's Geniuses, Physicist Stephen Hawking, Talks About Donald Trump

UPDATE BELOW

STEPHEN HAWKING WANTS THE WORLD TO HEAR HIS MESSAGE ABOUT DONALD TRUMP

"Stephen Hawking is probably one of the most intelligent figures alive today. His formidable body of scientific work has helped humanity understand some of the biggest mysteries about the universe as we know it. With popular books like A Brief History of Time, The Grand Design, and The Universe in a Nutshell, the world-renowned physicist has single-handedly become synonymous with the word “genius” not just in the world of science, but in popular culture as well.

And yet, even he cannot fathom what it is that has made Donald Trump the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party in the 2016 presidential elections.

The British physicist appeared on ITV on Monday morning, claiming that Trump “is a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.”

Apparently he doesn’t understand much of the Republican Party’s voter base at the moment. Hawking is not necessarily shy when it comes to politics. In fact, he is an outspoken critic of neoliberal capitalism, often aligning himself with the political left when speaking on social, economic, or political matters."

Donald Trump, as many have noted, does appeal to the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR, what we'll refer to as the LCDs. Just visit any rabid right TeaPublican blog to see how low and common are the people who support him and the people who witness Trump's embarrassingly mindless rants and insults as well as his excruciatingly uninformed blather on domestic and foreign issues.

Remember, also, that among his biggest fans are the poorly educated and white supremacists.

Now let's wait to see how long it will take the thin-skinned Trumper to mock Stephen Hawking's ALS and make his LCDs fall all over themselves cheering.

UPDATE:

If you read the rabid right wing blogs and news sites, you'll learn that many of them are willing to defend the indefensible bigotry and political ignorance of Donald J. Trump and vote for him because they actually believe he is the better alternative to either Hillary, Sanders, or Johnson.  This is the position of a moral coward -- someone who is willing to sacrifice his or her principles for the sake of a political party.  Michael Gerson has a warning for those moral cowards:

"Republicans are testing out a theory. “What Trump is doing,” argues Peter Wehner of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, “is exactly what Rush Limbaugh and others have been begging Republican presidential candidates to do — to run a brutal, scorched-earth, anything-goes campaign. They now have their man.”

So, is the nation longing for more invective, more viciousness, more accusations of scandal and conspiracy? A strong plurality of voters in Republican primaries seemed to agree. We will now see how the national electorate responds.

As a starting move, Trump has accused Bill Clinton of rape and intimated that the Clintons are guilty of murder. It is hard to imagine going lower from here, but Trump will surely manage.

Some Republicans keep expecting Trump to finally remove the mask of misogyny, prejudice and cruelty and act in a more presidential manner. But it is not a mask. It is his true face.

Good Republican leaders making the decision to support Trump will end up either humiliated by the association, or betrayed and attacked for criticizing the great leader.

Trump leaves no other options."

Take heart, Donald Trump supporters! The Communist dictator of North Korea supports your guy over Hillary! That makes two Communist leaders, Kim Jung-un and Vlad the Putin who support your guy. Does that send a thrill up your legs:

North Korea praises Trump and urges US voters to reject 'dull Hillary'

So the North Korean Communist doesn't want Hillary? Is that perhaps because she knows more about foreign policy than the Trumpkopf who know exactly nothing about foreign policy?

So Trumpkopf's supporters are joined by two Communist leaders in hoping the US elects him as the POTUS.

I agree with Gerson. Any politician who endorses Trump is endorsing racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, anti-science, anti-environment, ignorance and more. This will be a weight around their careers once it is clear that the majority of Americans reject this narcissistic, attention-seeking deficit disorder fascist, and most of the electorate backs off his dark “telling it like it is” vision for America. It is not hard to predict that many who vote for Trump will deny it in future. The politicians, however, will be on record.

"Do we really want Hillary Clinton to gain control of appointments to the SCOTUS?"

This is the rabid crazies' biggest concern, not the safety of this country under a ignorant thin-skinned baboon whose only diplomatic skills are insulting world leaders, women, Hispanics, Latinos, the disabled, Jews, and every other group except the poorly educated and white supremacists.

They care nothing for America's safety or how the rest of the world sees us. I agree shaw, they're not patriots, they're moral cowards, only dreaming of payback to the pols they hate. We won't let them humiliate this country. Trump will be defeated.

Anonymous: This post is about Stephen Hawking, not Snoop Doggie Dog.

May I ask why the Sufer Dude was allowed to go "off topic" and not I? Or was it because he was anti Trump? on One of the Planet's Geniuses, Physicist Stephen Hawking, Talks About Donald Trump

Anonymous, the post was updated and included a quote by Michael Gerson, and Surfer Dude commented on the UPDATE in the blogpost.

You must be a Trumper supporter, y'know someone who speaks first without thinking, and who loves Donald for doing the same.

Oh but I thought that you were an advocate of Ferr Speech! on One of the Planet's Geniuses, Physicist Stephen Hawking, Talks About Donald Trump

To the Anonymous who said he/she thought I was an advocate of "ferr" speech:

I'm not for "ferr" speech, but I am an advocate of FREE SPEECH.

No government authority has censored your comment.

As the blog owner, I have the right to do so and to keep slimeballs from stinking up the place.

Again, the wingnuts have shown they don't know what the First Amendment means -- they must be among Trump's "poorly educated" supporters.

The whiney Anonymous mentioned @11:35 and the whiney Anonymous mentioned here are likely one and the same person. In the first whine, he/she shows he/she can't read, in the second, he/she shows he/she can't reason.

Trumpers.

Einstein was a genius, but could hardly tie his own shoes. Maybe Hawking doesn't know a thing about politics. He certainly hasn't proven to be a political genius over the last few decades.

Let's see, Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin support Donald Trump for president; Stephen Hawking said Trump's a demagogue, and Hawking doesn't understand why people are attracted to him.

Decisions, decisions! Among those three, whose opinion should I value? Nugent and Palin have been involved in politics for years; Hawking's just one of the planet's geniuses. Hmmmm.

I know. Why don't you, Anon, stick with the guy who crapped his pants to avoid serving his country during a time of war, and also stick with the half-wit, half-term governor.

I'll stick with the guy who knows a bit about critical thinking and rational though. Mkay?
