Trump on the Issues -- Part II -- His Promise to Deport 11 Million Undocumented People
is either a stupid campaign promise or a deliberate lie. Why?
Let's have Michael Chertoff, the head of Homeland Security under President George W. Bush explain it to you:
"I can’t even begin to picture how we would deport 11 million people in a few years where we don’t have a police state, where the police can’t break down your door at will and take you away without a warrant," said Michael Chertoff [former secretary of Homeland Security].
To avoid racial profiling, any American could expect to be stopped and asked for papers. Mr. Trump has said he would triple ICE’s deportation officers, to 15,000 from about 5,000. But even if that could be accomplished quickly … it would still be insufficient, experts said.
Existing [detention] facilities, with about 34,000 beds, would have to be expanded to hold at least 300,000. The federal government would have to open dozens of emergency courts and hire hundreds of judges.
The millions of immigrants from Central American countries, China, the Philippines, India and other noncontiguous nations would have to be flown home at the federal government’s expense. The American Action Forum, a conservative-leaning research group, calculated the federal outlay to be at least $400 billion, and then only if the deportations were stretched over 20 years
[A] 40-foot-tall concrete wall using a "post and panel" system that went 10 feet below the ground — to minimize tunneling — would cost at least $26 billion [not $10 billion, as Mr. Trump has asserted].
The logistics would be nightmarish, including multiple concrete casting sites and temporary housing for a crew of 1,000 workers if the job were to be completed within Mr. Trump’s first four-year term.
Maintenance would be an additional recurring expense.
Donald Trump PROMISED to get rid of 11 million people. Under our democratic Republic, this cannot be done -- it can, however, be done under a police state.
The people who support Trump and actually believe his bullpuckey must be bigger fools than he is, if they believe he can keep his promise.
If Trump knows this and continues to tell the American people it will be done, he's suckering those who believe him into voting for him.
He. Will. Never. Keep. That. Promise.

Trump and most of his followers are just not up to speed on the immigration issues.
For us to deport the whole lot of 11 million, the dream of many on the right, would require over 22,000 completely full 747's. That's one heck of an airlift.
Now where we would get those planes, and pilots, is anyones guess. Maybe Trump will make each country pay.
Since I work in Mexico, I try to keep up on this issue and the ramifications of different proposed solutions. Who knows, maybe Trump will hire me for my expertise in immigration.

Like most republicans, Trump is all bluster and no action. That's the MO of bullies everywhere.
Trump never had any intention of building a wall. I've heard that Trump takes his cues from the far-right radio pundits. He researched what these types want and said he'd deliver. But he's just telling the rubes what they want to hear. If you take a look at a blog where his supporters gather, you'll see they're eating it up (Trump's BS). Let's hope we never find out how they might react when the Donald fails to build a wall that Mexico pays for or deport millions.

How do you know Trump has $10 billion? Because he says so? Hilarious, since Trump is a proven liar. He's been fact-checked again and again all through his ridiculous candidacy and found to be lying 91% of the time. $10 billion? Have you seen his tax returns?

Giving close scrutiny to trends and paying attention to causes driving those trends is smart political business. Just sayin...
RN, as long as Americans believe Trump is going to make America great again, the danger of a police state is there. People need to read up on how totalitarian strongmen come into power and what they do once they achieve that power.
Trump has already said he'd go after newspapers that aren't "fair" to him, that he use torture and worse. When he was told the military would not obey illegal orders, Trump replied that he'd "make them" obey his orders. Then there was his threats against the Speaker of the House, Ryan.
Should we brush these strongman threats off as "He's Only Being Donald?" Or should we understand that Donald Trump is a dangerous ignoramus who knows nothing about our laws and Constitution?
I tend to listen to and believe what people promise and say. That the Republican Party is now accepting this potential tyrant as its leader is truly stomach-turning.
For the past 7 1/2 years, the Tea Party has been labeling President Obama a "tyrant," yet here is a bona fide one in front of their noses, saying exactly what a tyrant would say and do, and they're tripping all over themselves justifying this horror.
The GOP deserves to go out of existence.
I have many of the same feelings but don't believe it will be the end of the conservative movement for the same reason it survived so far.
Now if Trump means the demise of the GOP that's not such a horrible loss. It was the GOP's decades of lip service to conservatism that facilitated Trump's rise. Although the GOP assured it was the home for conservatives it was more to keep them contained, like the crazy Uncle Beck in the attic, than actually run the household.
The most important lesson of this election is that the GOP allegiance to the status quo over that to founding principles has, finally, been plainly exposed and its support of a bullying pro-fascist to lead America will tarnish it in our history forever.
Precisely Shaw. Tyranny, wether it rises from the right or the left does so because of social dislocation/unrest. Addressing those issues sooner rather than later would be wise.
Drumpf has proven two things, he is unpredictable as well as inconsistent, and he is a BIG TIME liar. Of course that in my mind disqualifies him for the presidency of the USA.
