MORE IDIOCY FROM PALIN

Sarah Palin is good at mocking things she knows nothing about, and she has a loyal following that admires her pitiful lack of self-awareness.

She appeals to the GOP's base and its inability to do the hard work of checking the truth of the foamy blather that solecistically falls from her tongue.  She has turned into a mere taunting know-nothing--self-satisfied with her ignorance and encouraged and lionized by the people who know less about foreign and domestic policy than she does.

When President Obama correctly noted that Palin is not an expert in nuclear issues, instead of understanding that truth and changing the subject to where she is an expert [shooting wolves from helicopters, for example], she dug her hole even deeper by instead shooting her mouth off again:

Palin mocks the "vast nuclear experience" Obama gained "as a community organizer and as a part-time senator." During her April 9 speech at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, Palin said: "Now, the president, with all the vast nuclear experience that he acquired as a community organizer and as a part-time senator, and as a full-time candidate, all that experience, still no accomplishment to date with North Korea and Iran."

In Senate, Obama worked on non-proliferation policy, co-authored "next critical step" on issue:

Obama took fact-finding trip to former USSR to examine WMD stockpiles. In 2005, in his first foreign trip as a U.S. senator, Obama traveled to Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan with Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN), then-chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. The purpose of the trip was to examine facilities for the storage and destruction of conventional, biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons. Obama and Lugar subsequently co-wrote a December 2005 Washington Post op-ed on the issue and appeared together in a discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations on "Challenges Ahead For Cooperative Threat Reduction," in which Obama detailed ways to improve the U.S. program to control, secure, and dismantle weapons of mass destruction in the former Soviet Union.

With Lugar, Obama co-authored non-proliferation initiative signed into law by President Bush. Obama and Lugar co-authored the "Lugar-Obama non-proliferation initiative," which "enhances U.S. efforts to destroy conventional weapons stockpiles and to detect and interdict weapons and materials of mass destruction throughout the world." The legislation was signed into law by President Bush in January 2007. According to a June 28, 2007, press release from Lugar, he and Obama subsequently secured "$36 million for programs to destroy heavy conventional weapons, $10 million for efforts to intercept weapons and materials of mass destruction, and $2 million for rapid response to proliferation detection and interdiction emergencies."

Obama introduced Nuclear Weapons Threat Reduction Act of 2007: Obama introduced the Nuclear Weapons Threat Reduction Act of 2007 (S.1977), with then-Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) as an original co-sponsor, which would "provide for sustained United States leadership in a cooperative global effort to prevent nuclear terrorism, reduce global nuclear arsenals, stop the spread of nuclear weapons and related material and technology, and support the responsible and peaceful use of nuclear technology."

Obama"s interest in nuclear policy predates his Senate career: Obama reportedly authored his college thesis on "Soviet nuclear disarmament." Moreover, Washington Monthly reported in September 2006: "On the campaign trail in 2004, Obama spoke passionately about the dangers of loose nukes and the legacy of the Nunn-Lugar nonproliferation program, a framework created by a 1991 law to provide the former Soviet republics assistance in securing and deactivating nuclear weapons. Lugar took note, as 'nonproliferation' is about as common a campaign sound-bite for aspiring senators as 'exchange-rate policy' or 'export-import bank oversight.'"

But let's not confuse Sarah's little mind with facts and evidence when she can get a rise out of her followers by pretending she knows what she's talking about.  That there are people in this country who listen to this chalatan who has contributed nothing to our discourse but lies, mockery, self-promotion, and self-pity since she helped lose the presidency for John McCain, illustrates how little those who admire her care about this country.

I have an idea, why doesn't Sarah appear on a thoughtful discussion panel where she and experts, besides the president, can talk about this important issue.  If there's anything factual behind her mocking the president's nuclear expertise, let's hear her speak to it and what she believes America's nuclear policies should be.

Not once in her ridicule of Mr. Obama does she discuss anything about nuclear disarmament--there's a reason for that, as the president truthfully said, she doesn't know anything about it.  She's not a serious person and, therefore, does not deserve to be taken seriously.  She's joined the ranks of the other GOP clowns and cynics [Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter] who incite their aggrieved followers by demagoguing lies and false doomsday scenarious to keep them fearful and loyal. To them, truth is nothing more than a commodity that can be subverted to enrich their bankrolls.

Those who can, get elected president, those who can't mock other people smarter than they are.

UPDATE:

From Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish:

And so you return to the Palin conundrum. The sheer crudeness of her rhetoric, the vast ignorance it champions, and the charisma of a beautiful white woman rallying heartland male voters against commie evil is a combination it's simply impossible to grapple with effectively.

FOX NEWS' LIES ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA'S NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY.  HINT:  IT IS THE SAME AS PRESIDENT REAGAN'S IN THAT IT WOULD REDUCE THEM BY 1/3 THE EXISTING MISSLES.

Sarah Palin and Hugo Chavez, send us to Iran, are all the same family of parrots, talks cheap, no brains.

Next to Phyllis S., Palin is the most horrendous female I've had the unfortunate experience of listening to. Is everyone in the GOP a total moron?

I hate when I make a spelling error as I'm calling Palin stupid! lol

Shaw this is an excellent post! I sure hope these facts are being read by ordinary voters. Palin spewing such stupidity while her admirers go wild, it's insane. Why do we not hear the left on TV disputing her and showing the public the truth like you did here? It's all about jealousy when Palin and her ilk degrade Obama. Nobody on the right can hold a candle to his intelligence. 2 years coming up of this insanity, I hope I can endure it!

Bay Area Huston:

And to think Sarah Palin was that close to being in control of "the button".

Sarah Palin couldn't lecture her own damn kid on the importance of safe sex, yet she wants to lecture the nation on safe nuclear treaties?

No administration Sarah? Except for the Reagan administration:

The first strategic arms reduction proposal (START) was presented by United States President Ronald Reagan in Geneva on 29 June 1982. Reagan proposed a dramatic reduction in strategic forces in two phases, which he referred to as SALT III at the time. The first phase would reduce overall warhead counts on any missile type to 5,000, with an additional limit of 2,500 on ICBMs. Additionally, a total of 850 ICBMs would be allowed, with a limit of 110 “heavy throw” missiles like the SS-18, with additional limits on the total “throw weight” of the missiles as well. The second phase introduced similar limits on heavy bombers and their warheads, and other strategic systems as well.

As David Brooks noted on Meet the Press once "She's a joke."

And a really, really bad one.

Good for you Shaw, it's a great post!

That's fantastic. Proud of you, gal.

From BJ via email:

" 'Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity,' Gingrich told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana."

" 'Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity,' --Gingrich

OMG! Everything we're supposed to value: honesty, intelligence, forbearance, all missing in this woman, and yet Gingrich would have his gullible listeners believe Palin is to be admired?

40% of the country? LIE. Not even that percentage of the GOP likes her.

Maybe they should call the next bill dealing with reduction the Ronald Reagan Nuclear Weapons Reduction Bill. Explode a few heads anyway.

Shaw: I am no expert on foreign affairs or nuclear treaties, etc. I would like to think that having an arsenal of nukes would scare the hell out of our enemies and they will leave us alone but Iran is the PERFECT example that that is NOT the case. With that being said I’ll leave the “war talk” and “treaties” up to the experts to save myself the embarrassment of appearing “stupid”.

As far as Palin is concerned, she has the right to say whatever she wants no matter how “unintelligent” some may think it is. I don’t put a lot of stock in Palin as far as a “serious” candidate is concerned. She’s a likeable “person”, in my opinion, but that’s about it.

I do think that President Obama “goofed”, for lack of better words, on the Morning Show the other day though. When he said he had “no comment” he should’ve left it at that but he didn’t, he went on with an explanation that Palin wasn’t qualified, etc, etc., which, consequently gave Palin MORE ammunition to bash him.

Personally I think Obama would be better of ignoring Palin altogether. After all, if she’s “unqualified” why dignify her or her comments with a response? I certainly wouldn’t.

Pam,

I read that many people have suggested what you have, that Mr. Obama should have skipped the answer to Stephanopolous's question, but Stephanopolous said it was a legitimate question, since Palin was a candidate for the 2nd highest Constitutional office in the country, so he had to answer it.

I don't think anyone frames Palin's comments as a 1st Amendment Free Speech issue.

I think what gets people [myself, obviously included] angry is that she's not qualified to give her opinion.

If she were as smart as you, she would have understood that when you don't know very much about a subject, it's best you don't expound on it or make oneself foolish by criticizing someone who has more information on it.

I don't know much about disarmament, so I wouldn't open my mouth in a public forum and criticize an expert on it.

That's what angers people and incites them to belittle her comments.

She was wrong to imply that Mr. Obama had no experience with nuclear issues, since it is on record that he and Republican Senator Lugar initiated an important piece of legislation involving that very issue, and that President Bush signed into law!

So when she made her false statement, she opened herself up for a lot of ridicule. She brought it upon herself.

Palin can talk to issues on energy, hunting, etc., but she knows nothing about nuclear arms, and in order to avoid looking foolish should stay away from those topics.

Pam
I'd like to point out that Iran is not our enemy. They've never threatened us and haven't even sent troops across their borders since the 18th century.
Numerous inspections have shown they have no nuclear weapons program.
Yet we continue to threaten them, which causes them to unite behind Ahmadinejad.

Awesome, lady! Just awesome!

"Old saying: The empty barrel makes the most noise"

Men of intelligence, such as Obama, rarely validate moronic comments with a response. I often wonder if that's why the left is often TOO quiet in dealing with the Falins, Goongrich's and Dubyas of the country.

Perhaps the left needs to become "the squeaky wheel" in order to combat the "empty barrel"

In case you missed Tina Fay's rendition of The Sarah Palin Network on SNL last night, Brain Rage just put up the video. It is absolutely hysterical.

http://brainrageblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/snl-sarah-palin-network.html

Now Pam, you really can't say on the one hand Palin should be able to say what she wants and on the other hand the president can't.

"I'd like to point out that Iran is not our enemy."

Any nation hellbent on building nuclear weapons as part of its frequently-stated goal of exterminating an entire nation of millions DOES bear watching.

Remember WW2? Isolationists then thought it was OK if someone overseas wiped out a few million Jews.

Thankfully, the Obama administration takes the real threat from Iran seriously.

Joe "Truth 101" Kelly said...

I'm with Dmarks. Being able to blow up the world 127 times is not near enough to frighten those who hate us for our freedom into surrender. They want to destroy us because they hate our lush yards and scantily clad women. If we can only blow up the world 57 times it will embolden our enemies.

If we want peace it must be through a vast stockpile of nuclear weapons that the Russians never used against us either even though Reagan destroyed Russia and they were so distraught, yet rational enough not to nuclearize us they elected Yeltsin whom they knew was too drunk to remember the nuclear codes.

And that's why we must nuke Iran before Ahmadinejad gets nukes because Muslims don't use alcohol and we can't get him drunk enough to forget the nuclear launch codes.

Oso said...

Yes I remember ww2-what does that have to do with what I wrote?

I repeat-Iran has no nuclear weapons program.established fact.read a little about the IAEA findings, don't take my word for it.

Please stop repeating that tired canard about "wiping Israel off the map". there is no such phrase in Farsi, it was never said.

The only threat Iran poses is the threat to take Israel's place as our cop on the beat someday.

Oso said...

Truth, getting Ahmadinejad to forget the launch codes-LOL!

Palin's biggest problem is that she's too stupid to know how stupid she is. It's laughable to listen to her pretend she has a clue about nuclear diarmament. She can't even say the word for f#*k's sake.
