Mueller's Team is Closing in on the Corrupt President

"Lying to Congress is a serious crime with serious consequences. Mr. Cohen has now admitted to lying about his contacts with Russian officials on behalf of President Trump. His guilty plea contemplates Mr. Cohen’s further cooperation with investigators. Anyone who still believes that this is a “witch hunt” must now face the reality that the investigation appears to be closing in on the President.

"The Special Counsel has now secured guilty pleas from President Trump’s personal attorney, his campaign manager, his deputy campaign manager, a foreign policy advisor to his campaign, and his National Security Advisor. He has filed 191 charges against more than thirty individuals—almost all of whom are in President Trump’s orbit, Vladimir Putin’s orbit, or both.

The President can pretend that this investigation has nothing to do with him and nothing to do with Russia, but these indictments speak for themselves. We must allow this investigation to run its course without interference from the President or his allies on Capitol Hill.

As the new Congress begins, these developments make clear that my colleagues and I must step in and provide accountability. No one is above the law, not even the President, and our job will be to check his impulse to abuse his office to protect himself.

We will do everything in our power to allow the Special Counsel to finish his work and follow the facts and the law to their conclusion."

--Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee

Shaw... off topic, but I think it's all part of the legacy of the Trump Presidency.

The rate of children with health insurance has now risen above the historic lows we saw in 2016, the last year of the Obama Presidency and the last year an administration actively worked to lower that rate.

Skud and the others will have to work hard to explain this away. And the numbers say the great majority of uninsured kids are in, you guessed it, states that refused to expand medicaid... Florida, Texas and Georgia.

Now as these kids get sick, everyone in the state will be free to pay the bills their families cannot afford when they take them to various ERs.

Another great leadership example from our president.

People like skud and the folks on the Mother Ship are too locked into ideology to see this administration's destructive policies and its corruption.

Now Mueller is breathing down Trump's neck, and it's looking very, very bad for him.

Trump's lies and corruption have finally caught up with him. He should be very, very scared.

At the very least, I think he is getting worried about his kid and maybe Jared. All of them seem to have had a part in the various meetings with the Russians that ironically, they all said never happened. Until confronted with evidence.

Saying I told you so, or waiting for proof that Trump's policies are harmful is useless to those who suffer and die from those policies waiting for the majority to actually stop the source of those abuses. That'e why impeachment should be a higher priority.

How to destroy America and her democratic republic... Elect tRump to the office of POTUS. As Khrushchev predicted America will be destroyed from within. tRump is VERY likely that enemy within.

President Individual 1 didn't have a "very" good day yesterday. I kept looking to make sure it was really Thursday. If that was any indication, raid on Deutschebank and the tax dude in Chicago plus Cohen, today is going to be totally lit.

On at least 23 occasions since the summer of 2016, Mr. Trump has said either that he had “nothing” to do with Russia, or that he has “no deals,” no investments and no “business” in Russia. NY Times

That's weird when you consider they were very cool and very legal and he only lightly looked at building in Moscow.

Yep Kevin... that tune has now changed hasn't it? Now he's essentially admitting he was lying before.

The President of the United States of America... what a great role model for our kids.

I wonder if he is teaching young Baron that the way to get ahead is to bully people, call them names and lie.

This Muller investigation cannot end soon enough for me and I wonder if it will be enough to get the SOB impeached.

Jerry, Kevin, and Dave

Of course Trump and his corrupt lackeys have been lying about having anything to do with Russia. We know that Trump has no relationship with the truth. I never believed him when he stated he had nothing to do with Russia. The truth has come out now that he had a LOT to do with Russia, including trying to make a huge business deal while running for the US presidency. What a corrupt, mendacious scoundrel Trump is, has been, and always will be.

Here's more from Bloomberg:

The story told by the criminal information runs like this:

Starting in September 2015, the Trump Organization was pursuing a deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Cohen was working on making the deal happen.

In mid-January of 2016, someone described as “a U.S. citizen third-party intermediary” and identified only as “Individual 2” suggested to Cohen that he contact Putin’s press secretary for “approvals” from the Russian government.

Cohen emailed Putin’s press secretary twice, on Jan. 14 and Jan. 16, 2016.

On Jan. 20, Cohen got a call from the press secretary’s assistant. They spoke for 20 minutes, and Cohen described the deal.

The next day, Jan. 21, Individual 2 wrote to Cohen that he should call them about Putin, because “they called today.”

That began a period of negotiations lasting six months. Apparently, the Russians’ goal was to get Trump to visit Russia and meet Putin. Cohen asked Trump and other campaign officials about Trump traveling to Russia for the meeting. Cohen would go to Russia ahead of time to negotiate the details.

In May, things heated up. Individual 2 emailed Cohen explaining the state of play. “I had a chat with Moscow,” he wrote. “ASSUMING the trip does happen the question is before or after the convention … Obviously the pre-meeting trip (you only) can happen anytime you want but the 2 big guys where [sic] the question. I said I would confirm and revert.”

This email makes clear that there was a close connection between Trump’s status as a candidate and the visit.

(Cont.)

Cohen wrote back about “My trip before Cleveland” — where the Republican national convention would be held starting on July 18. Trump would travel to Russia “once he becomes the nominee after the convention.”

Individual 2 then told Cohen that Putin’s press secretary “would like to invite you as his guest to the St. Petersburg Forum which is Russia’s Davos it’s June 16-19. He wants to meet there with you and possibly introduce you” to Putin or the Russian prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev.

The trip looked like it was a go to Cohen, but it was called off around June 14, 2016, when Cohen met Individual 2 at Trump Tower to tell him it wasn’t happening. According to Cohen, the real estate deal was also off at that point.

The document doesn’t say how or why Cohen’s trip was canceled. The most logical possibility is surely that Trump’s campaign advisers told him that he couldn’t go to Moscow after becoming the Republican nominee.
Over the next month, Individual 2 sent Cohen the paperwork for a visa, which Cohen seems to have filled out.
