Every day we learn of new allegations of corruption by the Liar-in-Chief

House begins direct investigation into whether Trump instructed Cohen to lie

via Daily Kos:

Buzzfeed is reporting that Trump was in frequent communication with Cohen during the extended effort to make a deal in Moscow. Far from being out of the loop, Cohen directly spoke with Trump about the Moscow Project at least 10 times. Trump, Donald Trump Jr, and Ivanka Trump received regular and detailed updates about the project.

Those sources have also indicated that in his testimony to the special counsel’s office, Cohen insists that when he was called before Congress, Trump ordered him to lie to Congress. Specifically, Trump instructed Cohen to say that negotiations in Moscow had ended months before they were actually put on hold some time after the Republican convention.

Trump’s order to lie is supposedly supported by “interviews with multiple witnesses from the Trump Organization and internal company emails, text messages, and a cache of other documents.”

Buzzfeed:

"President Donald Trump directed his longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about negotiations to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, according to two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter. Trump also supported a plan, set up by Cohen, to visit Russia during the presidential campaign, in order to personally meet President Vladimir Putin and jump-start the tower negotiations. 'Make it happen,' the sources said Trump told Cohen."

It's just a matter of time before skudrunner arrives and tells everyone that Obama said you could keep your doctor.

Anon... you hit that nail on the head regarding Skud.

Now... how long until someone brings up the Clinton Cartel, the ppl they murdered and Benghazi?

If it is shown that Trump encouraged or knowingly allowed a member of his inner circle or Admin to lie to Congress or the FBI, effectively suborning perjury, he would be guilty of a federal offense.

Given that Sen Graham and other GOP members still in Congress are on record saying in the Clinton Impeachment that a perjurer cannot remain in the presidency, I wonder how they'll react if what is reported is true.

I know Trump is all over calling Cohen a liar, but as I heard the story, it comes from multiple law enforcement sources and is backed up by emails, memos and possibly, tapes. Cohen is just an additional source.

As RN might say... pass the popcorn. Now it gets interesting.

Yep, we got him this time, it's over for him now

Anon @1:14 PM, Dave, Anon @ 3:59 PM

I believe Cohen; Trump's denial is, I believe, another lie. Why? There is no advantage for Cohen to lie. He's been punished for lying and could get himself in deeper trouble if this is a lie. But, as Dave pointed out, there are plenty of other sources to back this up.

Trump is a liar. Why should anyone believe his denial? He denied time abd time again that he had nothing to do with Russia, and we've learned that he absolutely DID have everything to do with Russia. He was dealing with the Russians during the tine he was running for POTUS, trying to get another Trump Tower in Moscow.

We also know for a fact that he wrote out the lie about the reason for the meeting in Trump Tower with the Russians and his son Don,Jr., which Trump told his son to describe as a meeting about Russian adoptions. That also was a lie.

I visited the usual Trump blogs and they're not really facing what this could mean for Trump. They're hoping it's not true, even though for 3 years they've seen and head Trump lie to them.

Also they're crowing about a false story about Ruth Bader Ginsburg retiring at the end of Januaary.

That is a false story and they aren't bright enough to research its veracity. That, again, is evidence of why they believe in Trump: They believe in liars and lies. And because of their gullibility and poor judgement in character, we have President Chaos.

Let's hope that this Buzzfeed story has legs and it seems so because Buzzfeed says it stands by the revelations. Trump is just the sort of corrupt pig who'd suborn perjury. He's been a liar and a cheat all his life why would he change as president. He has no core values or honor.

Impeach the bastard!

Whoops....Mueller debunked the Buzzfeed story today

Shaw Kenawe said...

WRONG, Anonymous.

The spokesman for the Mueller investigation claimed some of the report was "inaccurate." Like most of the Trumpers, you read only what you want to understand. The Mueller spokesperson did NOT say what Bussfeed report is false.

Anonymous said...

Yikes! When does "inaccurate" not mean wrong?

Anonymous said...

Ms.Shaw, just be big enough to admitt the story you were fed and had you jumping up and down with glee is false.

Shaw Kenawe said...

inaccurate
adjective UK /ɪnˈæk.jə.rət/ US /ɪnˈæk.jɚ.ət/

B2 not completely correct or exact, or not able to do something correctly or exactly:

The spokesman for the Mueller investigation did not say the Buzzfeed report is false. Inaccurate can also mean not completely correct.

But keep your head in the sand believing President Porn Star Shagger is an honest man. He's not. He's a disgusting lying sob who probably sold out America.

Trump claimed again and again and again that he had nothing to do with Russia, no deals, etc., and we know that was and is a lie. Trump claimed he didn't have sex with a porn star and a playboy bunny. That was and is a lie too. Trump told Donnie junior to lie about the Trump Tower meeting, saying it was about Russian adoptions. That was a lie. Trump claimed again and again and again that NO ONE IN HIS CAMPAIGN HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA. That's another lie. 16 people were involved with Russia.

What kind of a person are you who supports a bald faced lying fraud? It's in front of your nose. Why do you refuse to see it?

Perhaps you admire liars, cheats, and frauds?

I support his policies....lower taxes, strong law enforcement, strong military, lower welfare cost, strong border enforcement.
I could care less who he's sleeping with or his previous business dealings.

PM Carpenter:

"At this,[the Buzzfeed revelations] we were to gasp in horror? Be appalled to learn that there is no law Trump won't break? Wring our hands and explode with expletives at the unbearably fresh news, at long last, that the president of the United States — this president of the United States — is a cheat, a rogue, a liar, a charlatan, a crook?"

Les Carpenter said...

@Anon 9:19 PM - Then you are part of the problem and obviously proud of being so.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Trump supporter: "I don't care if Mr. Trump has told over 6,500 documented false or misleading statements! I believ him!"

That describes Anonymous @9:19 PM 1/18. Truth, facts, honesty, human decency, compassion, all can get tossed out so long as people like "Anonymous" get what they want. This is how nations die.

No matter what DJT does he will be attacked. Who supported a border barrier in the past, BJC,-H-, obama the great, madam pelosi, chuckie and the rest of the democrat elected elite. Now that trump is trying to get something done the dems are totally against it. Had previous administrations done something about immigration reform and securing the border we wouldn't have these issues to deal with today and both parties could do something for the American people instead of just holding America hostage. obama the great shut the government down because he couldn't get 940 billion to assist 9 million people and the tag team of pelosi/chuckie are shutting the government down for 5.5 billion to protect 310 million. Something about that doesn't make sense.

Shaw Kenawe said...

SKU: "Had previous administrations done something about immigration reform and securing the border we wouldn't have these issues to deal with today"

You conveniently forget that the House of Reps. was in the hands of the Goopers:

2013

January: Obama advances new principles for immigration reform in a speech at Del Sol high school in Las Vegas. The principles are in line with a plan being crafted in the Senate by a bipartisan Gang of Eight senators.

June: The Senate passes the Gang of Eight’s immigration reform bill 68-32. The bill contained a path to citizenship over 13 years for undocumented workers and some $40bn for border security. The House would never vote on it.
November: A year after he said immigration reform “ought to be dealt with”, House Speaker John Boehner says he will not convene a conference to reconcile potential House legislation with the bill that passed the Senate. Legislative action stalls.

Trump is a liar, a cheat, and a fraud. You and other Goopers expect something good to come out of something bad? Good luck with that.

Facts ARE what they ARE. Shaw has presented FACTS, not pablum for the liberal left. skudrunner and the other righties who post here however will continue to believe the Liar in Chief with the FACTS notwithstanding.

BTW righties, Benghazi, BENGHAZI, Benghazi!!

skudrunner said...

Why would you Assume I was only talking about obama the great. Bush tried to get immigration reform and was blocked by his own party. Clinton did nothing because he was trying to win the popularity contest and of course obama the great was to concerned on hijacking healthcare and taking care of his special interest groups, which is all he cared about.

As you know I do not support trumps actions just his ideas for the country. I do agree we need a change in leadership but there is not another reagan running unless Nikki Haley runs then we could see great things. This whole attitude of sink trump regardless of the cost to the country is absurd.

Shaw Kenawe said...

What exactly are Trump's ideas? Building a wall? That's not solving immigration issues. Will the wall solve the DACA situation? Will the wall on the southern border solve the northern border problems?

Was giving tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires a good idea that added trillions more to the deficit? Is threatening to withdraw from NATO - a strong alliance against Russia and other despotic governments -- a great idea? Is starting a trade war with China a great idea?

Is closing down the government a great idea? Ask the 800,000 Americans struggling to make ends meet how great that is for them.

BTW, I'm pleased that you acknowledge that President Obama is "great." Our closest ally, Great Britain did not laugh at him by constructing a gigantic float that looks like a tantrum-throwing baby when Mr. Obama made presidential visits to G.B., nor did President Obama have to cancel his trip to London because millions of Brits were going to protest his visit.

You and other Goopers have made the classic Faustian bargin. And you will be judged forever for sticking with a liar, cheat, and fraud to justify the means.

What problem are you talking about?

Shaw... Anon at 9:19 either is Steve on other blogs, or copied the post and made it his or her own. Either way, it's trollish, something to be expected from some of the more unhinged Trump lovers.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... like many in the GOP, you seem to fixate on the "The Dems were for a wall before" tripe.

Does that make a difference? The GOP does not feel that it matters, so why should the Dems?

The GOP won't even bring their own bill to open the government up for a bill now because it will pass, likely with a veto proof majority? Why are you being snarky with Mitch McConnell and the rest of that group?

Why not slam with your sarcasm the GOP for not supporting and working to improve health care nationwide when the Dems proposed a plan the GOP suggested and actually supported before?

Is it because you choose to only highlight the foibles of the Dems?

Certainly many here have been critical of the Dems, including Obama and the Clintons over the years.

You stated you like Trump's policies just not his actions. Which ones? The policy to separate kids from their parents at the border? How about the imposition of tariffs in opposition to free trade? How about his desire to leave NATO? Do you support him lying to us? Or do you think ISIS, which just claimed responsibility for killing 4 Americans really has been defeated? How about his policy of humiliating aides, some respected former generals, in public? How about his tax policy of giving huge tax breaks to the super rich? Is that a good policy? Is it good policy to publicly criticize our allies [Germany and France] while publicly commending our enemies [Russia]?

You may say these are the actions you do not like, but you'd be hard pressed to differentiate between action and policy.

Action at a presidential level denotes policy brother...

I guess because I was working in the Health Insurance industry before the ACA was approved I know some background that was not widely publicized. The year I left my job defining benefits for Child Health Care Plus, Medicaid, Medicare, and the general population companies were faced with triple digit percentage point increases - and that was company wide. Many companies did their best to lower rates with proactive practices such as focusing on preventative medicine, healthy living classes, and smoking cessation programs. Even with all that work at least high double digit increases were a reality.

So when I read the Right Wing talking point about how Former President Obama hijacked healthcare I get a bit angry. Obama followed the rules to pull Health Insurance out of it's death spiral. He used a Republican Think tank program already implemented by the state of Massachusetts as a template and then held dozens of committee meetings to ensure both sides of the aisle could suggest any changes.

I thought Obama was wrong to include the bad faith Republicans and their actions towards the ACA to date have proved me correct. I didn't want to be right, by the way. I would have been happy if the R's had embraced compassion and empathy but they did not.

The concept that a person should die because they can't afford medical care.... the idea steams me to be honest.

And for those who don't want to pay for someone else's healthcare premiums - what do you think you are doing when the uninsured use Emergency Rooms for routine medical issues? That cost has to be absorbed somehow. You think rates go up just because??? The options are clear. People will pay more to cover the extra ER use or pay less to cover everyone with health insurance. It's not a difficult choice for me but I've learned you can show a person the facts but that doesn't mean they have to acknowledge them.

skudrunner said...

Good points Rev. The democratic party, or the we have no ideas or solutions party, have yet to propose or think about what it is they want to open the government. Madam pelosi has no intention on negotiating and she will not consider a wall so there is no negotiations on either side. Open the government and we will talk. I wonder how that would work with the UAW negotiating with auto makers, go back to work and we will talk.

The wall is stupid but so are sanctuary cities. Do away with the idea of a wall and enforce our laws would be a better solution. Trump did say he will extend the provisions of the very weak DACA policy but of course botox nancy said we don't want to solve this we just want to blame you.

GOO, if you understand health insurance you should also understand that 940 billion dollars should have provided for more that 9 million people with health insurance. It was obama's was to reward pharma and the insurance companies for their support of him.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... you admit the wall is stupid, but slam the Dems for not negotiating a way to give Trump money to build it.

Once again... you agree with us. It's stupid. Add in the fact that it will not lower illegal immigration, stop drugs from entering the US and no member of Congress along the border wants it and you have to ask why build it? Remember, you said "the wall is stupid!"

So tell us again why Speaker Pelosi should give Trump $$$ to build a stupid wall that won't work? Simply because he wants it?

skudrunner said...

It will not stop drugs, sex trafficking, or illegals from entering the US but it will slow it down to a crawl. I believe enforcing our laws, all of them, is preferred but our elected elite feel we only need to enforce some laws. Madam Pelosi is only interested in the blame game and has no interest in upholding our laws or protecting American citizens but that is the profile of a politician.
I would like to see what proposals the dream team of nancy and chuckie have in mind to protect our country. Sanctuary cities do not protect citizens.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... according to all research, the wall will not slow illegal immigration.

Speaker Pelosi today offered 5 billion dollars to upgrade border security in the areas that matter. policing trucks entering the US, possibly with drugs, better surveillance of potential threats, probably more judges to adjudicate ppl seeking asylum, etc.

Please tell me why those types of expenditures are not considered border security by you and the GOP?

Again, not one Congressman along the border wants the wall. Why? Because these mostly GOP leaders know it won't work. But they will support Speaker Pelosi's offer.

Why is that?

skudrunner said...

Rev, maybe that is the same research and polls as 2016.
Is madam pelosi going to support ICE or enhanced enforcement, not from past actions. It takes a village to solve this problem and the wall is not the only answer. What is the expense of housing, schooling, feeding, providing care for the millions of illegals that madam pelosi wants to be left alone. A hint is far more that the 5 billion for a wall.

Dave Miller said...

Skud... what are you reading? The great majority of illegal immigration now comes from overstaying VISAS, not from border crossers. Shouldn't we beef up enforcement there? The great majority of illegal drugs entering the US, by US Customs own estimates, comes through "legal points of entry" not with border crossers. Terrorist entry is the same way with the 4000 people of interest SHS cited as border crossers, actually being apprehended in airports.

There are not polls, that measure what ppl think, they are verifiable facts.

Speaker Pelosi, has, again, proposed over 5 billion in enhanced border security, beefing up staff, enforcement and other venues that every congressman along the border supports. Maybe we, or Trump should listed to them.

As for your comment that the wall is not the only answer, I agree, Too bad Trump doesn't. The problem for him is that not only is it not the only answer, it's a bad answer.
