MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE SAME EVENT

This is the AP (Zeke Miller) announcing jobs numbers in December 2021 with Biden as POTUS (recovering from COVID lockdown.)

The 210,000 jobs added is labeled "SLUGGISH":

Explain, please.

Well... it's probably not the numbers perse. It was largely thought that this December we would have seen more robust hiring numbers. Lots of analysts were expecting Christmas hiring to be in the 500,000 range. So, 200,000 is pretty lackluster.

In January 2018, analysts were expecting about 180,000 jobs to be added, so the same 200,000 number exceeded expectations.

So while the unemployment rate continued to drop in the December numbers, hiring has slowed a bit.

Corpo-media is doing its best to keep a tight horse race for their profit margins.

They are the reason why Biden's ratings are down.

When POTUS was an R - STRONG GROWTH

When POTUS is a D - SLUGGISH GROWTH

Explanation - Typical hypocrisy. Reality ignored.

If you had any economics classes in grade school you would know that both statements are correct. Instead of knowing how many jobs were added you need to look at what the participation rate is which is a more accurate indicator. Remember the media is very biased toward the democrats and have done an exemplary job of protecting biden but statics are difficult to spin. When you have millions of jobs available and millions of people not employed it hard to spin that to be positive.

"It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit." - Noël Coward

Corporate media in Washington and NY city have a gloom and doom narrative to sell. "Facts, truth, and context be damned - look at our ratings and revenue stream!!"

Democrats deliver! Liberals and Democrats passed and President Biden signed into law, a major infrastructure bill in 10 months. Democrats believe in USA. Democrats believe in the people of USA. Democrats believe in USA government.
We The People believe in President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats.

All of which is irrelevant to the corporate media's narrative. So the solution is look for a shiny object and lie. When the money moves so will corporate media's narrative. Look squirrel ...

Skud... are you purposely trying not to learn stuff? Your "ideas" are about as informed as the majority of folks riding the HMS Mothership of Denial.

Here's a typical comment from La Capitana, a substitute English teacher I might add...

The employment numbers aren’t high this month….Now, this is the time of year when MORE people are hired because there’s Christmas hiring, so this might be worst than usual.
SO, this morning, FOX covered the low employment numbers….even handedly, I’d say…………….
SO I skip to CNN to see if they’ll even MENTION it since it’s not good for Biden….and, sure enough, they’re blaming the low employment numbers on how SO MANY HAVE STARTED THEIR OWN SMALL BUSINESSES so people aren’t going back to their companies. “What?” I thought… in this climate, THAT many have started businesses?

Now, if we were allowed to comment there, we'd post this link, which you should read too. Because it gives the answer you and the rest of your fellow sailors need to understand.

In a nutshell, ppl are not coming back to "legacy" jobs but according to data uncovered by conservative media, becoming job owners and entrepreneurs, exactly what the GOP used to advocate.

Why is it when you and others in your cohort don't understand something, rather than seek out the why, you all ask stupid uninformed questions and assume the worst?

Think I'm wrong? Go read the comments over there.

When defending a particular position always change the narrative to defend that position no matter what reality is.

Rev, The topic was about the media reporting statistics in a different slant and you turned it into a discussion about why people are not filling jobs. You and jerry are accusing me of changing the narrative which is interesting because it is the two of you who did exactly that. I will assume by your response that you did not take grade school economics.

When you have a participation rate that is low and declining and a high job market you can have low new jobs even though they seem OK. Defend the administration but the reality is they are incompetent and and starting to make carter look good, something I thought I would never see. The media is having a difficult time in spinning what is really happening.

I hope those 12 million people do become self employed but they have no clue what it takes to make a successful business or how much work and sacrifice it takes.

I spend far less time on the mother ship than you, like seldom, so I have no idea what their opinions are.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave I read those comments over at the Mother Ship. Also saw Geeez's snarky comments on "dehumanizing." That's from a blogger who allows one of her commenters to call Muslims "vermin." He never qualifies which Muslims, so he means ALL Muslim "Moslems" are "vermin."

As we've pointed out many times, The Nazis labeled Jews ALL JEWS "vermin" so as to dehumanize them and make the German people accept their annihilation as people.

The sailors on the Mother Ship as well as AOW have publicly said they don't trust and detest Muslims and dehumanize them on a regular basis.

Just this past Saturday, a large group of masked white supremacist males of the "Patriot Front," wearing uniforms and carrying American flags upside down marched in DC, threatening to "reclaim Americas" and evoking the Brown Shirt marchers in the 1930s Germany.

Pay attention to this. This is NOT good!

Dave Dubya said...

Unfortunately there are those on the left who think we shouldn't compare the rise of the American radical Right to the rise of Nazis in the 1930's. American Nazis filled Madison Square Garden for one of their rallies. Their offspring are among us.

This denial will only help assure another "Triumph of the Will".

Les Carpenter said...

Bow to America and it's lofty ideals of representative democracy and rule of law as she checks out and hands the promise that WAS America over to the conservative "vermin" of the tRumpublican right.

Fascinating gaslighting Skud. As you pointed out, Shaw's post was about media reporting statistics. And yet in your first response to her post, you mentioned the participation rate. You then went on to mention the millions of people not filling the "millions of jobs available".

Then when I answer your opinions with actual facts, you accuse me of "changing the narrative"

If the narrative was changed, perhaps you should look in the mirror. I'm not defending the President, or the Admin in this case, I'm simply pointing out the fact, as reported by actual conservative leaning news organizations, that many people have decided they want to be their own bosses.

Your struggle is that this does not fit your narrative that these unfilled are evidence of a bad Biden Admin, as opposed to a shift in the way Americans want to approach work.

You see, contrary to the views you, Geeez and the rest of your fellow sailors hold, Americans are not slackers holing up in basements waiting for freebies from the government. Instead, they've taken their stimulus money, which you all got too, and put it into starting new businesses and becoming job creators.

Unless the Wall Street Journal, INC, many other publications, the IRS and the Dept of Labor are all lying to us.

"As we've pointed out many times, The Nazis labeled Jews ALL JEWS "vermin" so as to dehumanize them and make the German people accept their annihilation as people"
That's the same tactic we use when we compare Republicans to Nazis, or Trump to Hitler.

Dave Dubya said...

Did Jerry just compare us to Nazis, for comparing the rise of the American radical Right to the rise of Nazis?

No? Just using the "same tactic". Isn't that a comparison?

How about this same tactic?

Nazis labeled their opposition as communists. Trump and many in his party are now calling all Democrats communists.

The Trumpists label DEMOCRATS as America-hating "communists" so as to dehumanize them and make the American people accept their annihilation as an opposition party.

Election workers are facing death threats. Rep. Debbie Dingell's office windows were smashed and her office was looted. Kristallnact, American style.

Scapegoating, bigotry, demonization...and their very own Big Lie, that is tearing our country apart.

If that isn't fascistic, I don't know what is.

MAGAts are bigots.

American neo-Nazis are bigots, AND Trump supporters.

Hitler incited a coup in 1923.

Trump incited a coup on January 6th.

Is it the "same tactic" Nazis used for me to compare these fascist coups? No.

What do we say about Holocaust survivors noting the similarities between the rise of Nazis and white nationalist Trumpism. Are they using the "same tactic" as Nazis, too? No.

Nobody's comparing Trump's tax cuts for the rich to the Holocaust. Trump isn't Hitler, but Nazis love him for SOME reason. Nobody’s comparing Republicans who voted to impeach Trump to Nazis.

This guy is another case: "If you are raising a young man, please raise them to be a monster" - North Carolina Congressman Madison Cawthorn, 10/21/21

Our Constitutional process BARELY survived Trump's 1/6 coup. Republicans are subverting elections and are amassing power to overturn them if they lose. Dare we compare that to fascism?

We're comparing the bigotry, hate, and fascist tendencies at the core of white nationalism, German or American, Nazi or Republican.

Nobody is EQUATING Trump to Hitler, or the Republican Party to Hitler's Nazi Party.

Compare: to estimate, measure, or note the similarity or dissimilarity between.

Equate: consider (one thing) to be the same as or equivalent to another.

Words have meanings. This is why fascists from Hitler though Trump redefine them to demonize opposition.

"Fake news, enemies of the people, communists", etc. are the same damn tactics Hitler used.

Denial of these comparisons will only help assure another "Triumph of the Will".

Jerry said...

You have compared Trump to Hitler and Republicans to Nazis, now you back off that position? Good.
Did trump execute millions of Muslims? Did Republicans set up concentration camps to house people before they executed them? Did America attack, bomb, invade other countries and then murder innocent civilians?
As I said before, there are different levels of fascism and Trump and the Republicans don't even come close to Hitler and the Nazis.
This is December 7th. Lets not forget the TRUE murderous evil of Hitler and the Nazis.
I am comparing the hate you are trying to build by vilifying Trump and the Republicans as Nazis. It's a false and outrageous comparison only meant to build hate. As Hitler and Gerbils built hate for the Jews.

Dave Dubya said...

Still comparing me to Nazis, Jerry?

“It's a false and outrageous comparison only meant to build hate. As Hitler and Gerbils built hate for the Jews."

OK, Jerry. Whatever you say.

I have not backed off from comparing the rise of the American radical Right and Trumpism to the rise of Hitler and the Nazis. Neither have Holocaust survivors.

At my blog I posted a long list of Holocaust Survivors and their comparisons of Trumpism to the rise of Nazis.

Here are just two of them. Go lecture them.

Holocaust survivor: America under Trump feels like 1929 Berlin

I also offered definitions that you have rejected.

YOU claim the privilege to re-define words, or to reject definitions in order to conform them to your accusation.

This is the same bad faith tactic the radical Right employs to dominate a discussion.

I'm not a hateful person, but maybe Trumpists DESERVE the hate?

If Nazis deserve it, why not those who emulate Nazi tactics?

If you think there are no Trumpists out there who would shoot democrats if Trump commanded them to do so, you don't understand the authoritarian personality.

And you're ignoring the lesson of Trump's Big Lie and coup. What you falsely call hate is actually fair observation with reasonable comparisons.

And ONE MORE TIME. Comparing is NOT equating.

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." - Voltaire

Jerry said...

I gave a brief outline of what the Nazis did, now show me where the Republican party, or Trump emulated that behavior.
This is the end of this Dave. Your words are printed for the record on numerous blogs. Maybe you are backing off because you realize how out of line your Nazi comparisons are. Enjoy your Nazi comparisons.

Dave Dubya said...

"...now show me where the Republican party, or Trump emulated that behavior."

I already showed you, Jerry. Demonizing the opposition as communists, fueling bigotry and racism, embracing white nationalism, scapegoating minorities, the Big Lie, staging a Putsch, etc.

Yes, my words are printed. You just don't seem to read or understand them. I think you're reacting to me on some emotional level, where rational and good faith discussion is abandoned and meanings of words are dismissed.

This undermines communication. You've irrationally and hypocritically compared my words to Nazis, in "as Hitler and Gerbils built hate for the Jews".

You've been obsessed with accusing me of lies and hate for months, thus my words will be dismissed again.

I've asked you this before:

Stop mentioning my name, and I'll return the courtesy.

Fair enough?

Jerry said...

I was the one who told you that months ago, yet, you kept following me from blog to blog and wouldn't let it go. Again, you didn't show me Trump and the Republicans did what the Nazis did. You lose.
