WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA?

This happened in America, in Florida, January 30, 2022!

What force/who has unleashed this evil?

What has happened to America?

The Greatest Generation fought to rid the world of this Evil, and something has unleashed it in our country.

Why?

Why is this happening?

Participants at a neo-Nazi rally in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday waved Nazi flags and shouted anti-semitic and anti-Black slogans, according to the NGO StopAntisemitism.org.

The rally was organized by the National Socialist Movement (NSM) and was live-streamed on the American Nazi Party’s website

"Right now: shocking display of Nazi flags and demonstrators on multiple overpasses between downtown Orlando and Disney on I-4," Thuman wrote, sharing images to Twitter.

It was unclear if those Nazi banners and demonstrators were connected to the rally on Saturday.

"'Let's go Brandon' written on sign next to Nazi symbols & flag," he added in a follow-up post, including another photo.

"Let's go Brandon" is a slogan adopted by critics of President Joe Biden, signifying "F*** Joe Biden

Ironic that the very people who would likely remind us how exceptional we are are the ones who are proving that we truy are not.

To be a racist, homophobic, antisemitic, misogynistic, anti science person is to be totally anti American. The very first thing that comes to mind when thinking about our great nation is that we are truly a 'melting pot'. A land where wide ranging ideas fit together to make life better for people. Perhaps I'm too pollyannish in my old age, but I just don't see how you can attack some of us without attacking the very fabric that is us. How can you distrust science and endanger everyone around you without thumbing your nose at the totality of us as a people.
No doubt, Skidmark or some other wingnut will, at this point, start the usual whine about it being the 'Democrats who started the KKK, etc etc etc. They always fail to acknowledge that Nixon started and Reagan put on overdrive the switching of the parties, going after Southern whites using racist tropes and catcalls of negativity to scare whites into becoming Republicans. Bringing up past stances of the parties is about as relevant as pointing out that horses used to be the size of poodles. Irrelevant and, frankly, stupid. But I'll bet you a wingnut will do it anyway.
Okay, putting the soapbox away for now. :)

f**king shocked to learn that the party that wouldn't denounce Nazis in Charlottesville is the same party that won't denounce Nazis in Orlando. how f**king hard it is to denounce Nazis?

Apparently, for the Trumpublicans in Florida, it's VERY HARD!

I want to live in a state with a Governor that condemns Nazis.

Unfortunately, Florida is not one of them.

It's not so much, bad as it is, that these events keep happening. There will always be bad seeds, racists, et al in any society.

What's worse is that one of our political parties won't publicly and forcefully denounce such behavior. It's the same attitude we saw across the south in the times of Bull Conner, George Wallace and more.

Quiet and winking acquiescence.

Enabled by a former president and supported by the deplorables who continue to do his bidding.

The Orange Fuhrer has admitted he lost and wanted to overturn the election. In his "Nuremburg in Texas" speech he promised to incite more mob violence if he is charged for his crimes.

He was in full fascist victim/liar/projection mode.

He attacked our justice system for prosecuting his terrorist thugs and openly called for more mob violence if he is found guilty of his crimes.

"If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt."

We all know what happened the last time he incited a mob to “protest”. He just added more evidence of sedition to the case against him.

Like all fascist leaders he incited anger, rage and hatred for anyone against him.

He invoked a false sense of victimization in his cult by including them in his persecution delusion.

"In reality, they're not after me, they're after you, and I just happen to be the person in the way."

"They're after you.

Instilling fear and paranoia is vital to the fascist agenda.

He continued to defend his criminal mob, after he made it clear on January 6, 2021 when he said, “We love you. You’re very special.”

“If I run and I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly. And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons, because they are being treated so unfairly.”

He’s still trying to legitimize his putsch.

In America, not every Republican is a Nazi, but every Nazi is a Republican.

A long, long time ago when I was in high school, some students got hold of a gigantic Nazi flag and dropped it down from the 3rd floor window, covering two floors. I will never forget seeing that brilliant red flag and the Nazi swastika in black and white on it.

We were all appalled, and the kids who didn't know any better had to IMMEDIATELY remove the flag from the building, after which, they were told why it is symbol of hate and death.

I don't understand why the same reaction doesn't happen in the cities and towns where the neo-Nazis parade and march with that symbol of hate and death.

What has happened to us?

Shaw Kenawe said...

BTW, if people consider banning the Nazi flag an infringement on free speech, I'd remind them that "free speech" is NOT unlimited in this country. We do have limits on what we can say in public, and even on social media (remember we can't threaten the life of the POTUS AND VPOTUS, and other federal officials? We can't yell "FIRE!" in a crowded venue when there is no fire, etc.

IMO, marching through American cities and towns with a symbol of hate and death is abhorrent to everything we Americans believe in. Yes. I know that to counter bad speech all we need is more and better speech. Where's the "more and better speech" these days? Where are the mayors and dignitaries of these cities and towns countering this Nazi-friendly behavior?

All the older men in my family fought in WW II against this sort of filth. All but one is gone, and he's witnessing the resurgence of something he fought against. He's 95 years old and, I'm sure, sick to his stomach, as am I (and all decent Americans) with it all!

Any comments on this? Anyone?

What has happened to us?

Short answer: Reagan ending the fairness doctrine, Limbaugh, Murdoch/FOX, and their incitement of fear, hate, and resentment over a Black president.

Shorter answer: Too many ignorant white people.

BluebullAmerica I don't consider what you wrote being on a "soapbox." We need to remind ourselves of our past so that we can understand what got us to this deplorable situation.

Glad to see you here. Take care my friend.

We Americans keep proving to ourselves that we most certainly are NOT exceptional. We proved it recently when we elected a LIAR, A CHEAT, AND A FRAUD to lead this sorry country.

Look at where we are now!

The Supreme Court ruled years ago that these scums have a right to say what they want and fly any flag they want. The idea of free speech being that real Americans will defend at the top of their voices that which they find abhorrent.
We will soon see a real Hitler (Putin) in action. Invading another country and murdering innocent people. But never fear, we have sent our Chamberlin to end his thirst for land with threats of financial punishment. Hitler only wanted a small piece of land south of Germany.

Well, "Real American Florida Governor R. DeSantis's spokesperson got a chance to say something about this today, and she blamed the Nazi parades on Democratic staffers! IOW, a cowardly little worm reaction. She and DeSantis only had to say that they condemn the flying of the filthy Nazi flag -- a flag that tens of thousand American men and women fought against and lost their lives, and that there's no room for the resurrection of that symbol of hate and death in this country. But instead they tried to blame Democrats!

N.N.N.: "We will soon see a real Hitler (Putin) in action. Invading another country and murdering innocent people. But never fear, we have sent our Chamberlin to end his thirst for land with threats of financial punishment."

Well, what would YOU suggest America does? Send in the Marines? Start a war with Russia? There are only limited actions here -- diplomacy, sanctions, or WAR. What do you suggest? S

N.N.N.: "Hitler only wanted a small piece of land south of Germany."

Well why don't you just say that America and her allies should go to war?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Mike We're just seeing the natural progression of the white supremacists who got a wink and a nod at Charlottesville from Trump. The FBI has been telling us for years that the greatest domestic danger we face is from groups like this.

Dave Dubya said...

As a WWII buff, I'll explain: "Hitler only wanted a small piece of land south of Germany."

That was after he had already occupied the Rhineland.

Then the Czech Sudetenland was ceded to Hitler after the Munich Agreement. He established the Nazi Party there beforehand. This 11,000 square miles of land surrounded the entire western half of Czechoslovakia. He promptly seized all of Czechoslovakia.

The next year it was Poland, and the start of the Second World War.

Because I'm not the president, it's not for me to say.
You have to learn to live with that you don't like. Free speech is for everyone. Yes that pisses others off.

Shaw Kenawe said...

N.N.N. wrote: "Free speech is for everyone. Yes that pisses others off."

And others can and should counter abhorrent free speech -- (such as flying flags of America's enemies) with condemnations.

Yes, Nazis were America's enemies, so it angers sane Americans to see their fellow citizens shoving the enemy's -- THE DEFEATED ENEMY'S flag in our faces as some sort of childish defiant act.

IMO, too many idiots have no understanding that freedoms also require responsibilities. That's a mature idea, but we've witnessed the underdeveloped brains of these Nazi-admiring scum using free speech to sully us all.

No Name Needed said...

Maybe we should ignore them. Why does the media post this crap? Why did you post it?
As an American, since the Supreme Court says what they do is legal, I'm not going to say they can't.

Shaw Kenawe said...

N.N.N.

Someone once said that the only way for Evil to triumph is for good people to say or do nothing.

Nazism was and is Evil. Everyone who does evil hates being exposed and fears the light because their deeds and motives will be exposed.

Ignoring Evil does not make it go away; ignoring it makes it stronger. Expose the Evil.

"It’s true that Nazi racism, especially rabid anti-Semitism, was always on the surface. Hitler was an ideological fanatic, and his ideology attracted a small but intensely loyal core of supporters during the party’s early years — 3 to 6 percent of the electorate during its first obscure decade. Even in regional elections throughout the 1920s, the Nazis’ share of the electorate never reached 10 percent.

The truth is that Hitler rose on the strength of his skill as a political strategist, more than anything else. The Nazi Party’s propaganda staff became masters of negative campaigning, launching vicious assaults on the establishment parties and the “system” they supported. They were convinced that details didn’t matter; indeed, Nazi claims were often outright lies. The Nazis also promised everything to everybody, pledging higher sale prices for farmers and lower food prices for workers in the cities. The contradictions abounded, and opposing parties never tired of pointing them out.

Such criticism did not faze the Nazis in the least. They either ignored it or railed that this sort of whining was what was wrong with German politics. Hitler understood that there are times when desperate, angry people want two and two to be five, and he swore that the Nazis would make it so."

Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

And trumpublicans meanwhile solidify their sick base in preparation for the next overthroew attempt. They are the next Nazi party of consequence. Fuck them all!

Dave Miller said...

A couple of thoughts...

Want to understand the lead up and violence of Nazism? Read William Shirer. It's a seminole work, from a first hand witness.

Then, earlier today we learned that some of the records the Trump Admin turned over to the National Archives, as required by law, had been effectively shredded and were turned over to the 1/6 Commission torn up and had to be reconstructed and taped together.

I'm guessing tearing the docs up before providing them is a violation of the law to safeguard ALL presidential records.

But where we are today is in a place where people who voted for Trump can not admit he's a crook, a liar, not fit for office, a national embarrassment and no fan of the law, if he disagrees with it.

Dave "But where we are today is in a place where people who voted for Trump can not admit he's a crook, a liar, not fit for office, a national embarrassment and no fan of the law, if he disagrees with it."

The party of "law and order" has devolved into a party that worships a lawless ex-president.

In today's news:

Trump Had Role in Weighing Proposals to Seize Voting Machines

New accounts show that the former president was more directly involved than previously known in plans developed by outside advisers to use national security agencies to seek evidence of fraud.

Six weeks after Election Day, with his hold on power slipping, President Donald J. Trump directed his lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani, to make a remarkable call. Mr. Trump wanted him to ask the Department of Homeland Security if it could legally take control of voting machines in key swing states, three people familiar with the matter said.

Mr. Giuliani did so, calling the department’s acting deputy secretary, who said he lacked the authority to audit or impound the machines.

Mr. Trump pressed Mr. Giuliani to make that inquiry after rejecting a separate effort by his outside advisers to have the Pentagon take control of the machines. And the outreach to the Department of Homeland Security came not long after Mr. Trump, in an Oval Office meeting with Attorney General William P. Barr, raised the possibility of whether the Justice Department could seize the machines, a previously undisclosed suggestion that Mr. Barr immediately shot down.

The new accounts show that Mr. Trump was more directly involved than previously known in exploring proposals to use his national security agencies to seize voting machines as he grasped unsuccessfully for evidence of fraud that would help him reverse his defeat in the 2020 election, according to people familiar with the episodes."

Trump's a criminal dictator wannabe with no use or respect for democracy and virtually the entire Republican party supports him as does the most influential media conglomerate in the world.

He also, just the other day, said he would pardon people found guilty of violent, seditious acts against the government. He incited the mob on Jan. 6 and has already begun inciting his armed mob to violently rebel again.

Trump sent insurrectionists to stop the vote count.

Trump threatened state officials, congressmen, and his VP.

Trump stopped the National Guard from protecting congress.

Trump wanted to seize voting machines and declare massive voting fraud.

And this past weekend, Trump admitted in a written press release that his goal was overthrowing our government.

And Trump is still walking around encouraging more sedition!

Dave Miller said...

Ray... And Trump, in violation of the Presidential Records Act has regularly torn up documents required by law to be preserved as part of our history.

And yet in all of this... nary a peep from the extremists who support him.

If you think that, please contact me. I have a Nigerian price buddy with a great business deal for you.

The whole is greater than its parts. Irrespective of tRumpublican views to the contrary.

Nazi symbols, activity supporting Nazi belifs, all of it has no fuc*ing place in a civilized intelligent society/culture. PERIOD.

His lying, racism, xenophobia, blustering bully persona, and anti democracy authoritarian bent is PRECISELY what got him elected in the first place. Will history repeat itself? Probably. America after all is a racist nation. Not so different than South Africa during apartheid. Remember Jim Crow?

tRumpublicans are working hard to shove rancid ideology down the throats of a nation once overwhelming alligned AGAINST the cancerous bulls*it.
