What are the gobshites saying?

"Jan 6 was an idiotic freakshow and a stain and embarrassment on our nation, but it doesn’t come close to 9/11."

Excuse me?

A FOREIGN ENTITY attacked our country and flew planes into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Another attack by the same FOREIGN ENTITY was thwarted and downed in Pennsylvania by brave passengers on Flight 93, which was probably headed toward the Capitol building.

January 6 was attack on our country BY OUR OWN PEOPLE, who were in the Capitol building hunting down Speaker Pelosi and Vice President Pence, hoping to do them bodily harm -- even KILL them.

Which one is worse? January 6, because traitors to our own country were the people who perpetrated that evil act.

Leave it to Trumpers to not be able to see the difference and to pretend what happened on January 6 was NBD -- even though the NBD was being led by American insurrectionists against their own government, spurred by a defeated POTUS who lied to his gullible supporters about the 2020 election.

This NEVER happened in America until the Liar, Cheat, and Fraud lost an election and tried to steal it from the American people.

America has faced foreign enemies before and prevailed against them.

But 35% of the voting public STILL support the man who lied about the 2020 election being stolen and would have stopped the peaceful transfer of power for the first time in American history, unlawfully installing himself, like a tin-pot dictator, in the presidency.

Dear gawd! THIS! is what America is up against. Foolish people who haven't the ability to see the glaring differences between 9/11 and J6, and what it means to our democratic republic.

We now know that there are forces within America who seek to destroy our democracy and who look to countries like Hungary and Russia as models for America.

"The Trump Organization appears to have overcharged the Secret Service for stays at Trump-owned properties by agents protecting the then-president. The charges exceeded the government's approved rate, according to the House Oversight Committee, which says Secret Service records show payments totaling over $1.4 million.

"The exorbitant rates charged to the Secret Service and agents' frequent stays at Trump-owned properties raise significant concerns about the former President's self-dealing and may have resulted in a taxpayer-funded windfall for former President Trump's struggling businesses," Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney wrote in a letter to Kimberly Cheatle, the service's director.

According to the documents, the Secret Service was charged as much as $1,185 per room per night, nearly five times the government rate, which is set by the General Services Administration."

If the January 6 mob of thugs had succeeded in murdering members of Congress and aborting a fundamental Constitutional process, as they evidently intended, then they would have accomplished what the Flight 93 hijackers were trying to do. In both cases the terrorists failed due to their own ineptitude and due to the willingness of other Americans to put themselves on the line to defend the country.

Isn't the trumpublican running for governor in AZ already tipping us off? When asked if they would accept defeat there was no answer.

Shaw, as you well know this cancer on our democratic republic is not going away any time soon. I fully expect it to metastasize and greater violence is likely on the way following midterms from the misguided souls of tRrumplandia.

I hope I'm wrong but I'd never bet against violence. Not any more.

The government should go back to the individual hotels and get our money back.

Look, the guy who you quoted is Silverfiddle. I get where he's coming from. I'm sure there are many ppl who lost immediate family members who feel the same way. I don't need to quibble over that difference.

But hear his words...

"It was idiotic. A shit show."

I have another friend who leans libertarian who says those clowns from 1/6 need to go to jail. At the very least he says, they are guilty of trespassing and many of beating law enforcement officers.

Both of these guys are far to the left of the extremist MAGA GOP crowd and if they said their words on the Mothership or the now closed AOW would be called losers, libtards or RINOS.

I'll take their stances, because they recognize that what happened on 1/6 was bad and a "stain" on our country and reputation.

Politics demands it. Give a little to get a little.

Are they perfect? No. But neither am I.

Dave Miller said...

But this comment from the Capitan of HMS Mothership is the best of the lot. Speaking of the Durham report and prosecution, she said...

"EVERYBODY: : DURHAM JUST FLUNKED OUT AGAIN…and THE FBI WON. DANCHENKO INNOCENT ON ALL FOUR REMAINING COUNTS.

So Sussman is innocent, Danchenko is innocent. Durham finished? Wiped out? Will anything EVER be proven about the Steele dossier and the lies about Trump?

Not if TRUMP is involved……..amazing."

In a court of law, a jury heard the, wait for it... evidence and found the defendant not guilty.

I think that is called justice. Our unique system where you are innocent in court until proven guilty.

I know this is hard for that crowd to understand, but here's reality...

There's been lots proven about the Steele Dossier and lies about Trump. They just don't like objective facts and evidence.

That is plainly evident.

I guess lots of folks forget the deaths from COVID that this country suffered that amounted to many 9/11s in body counts PER DAY!. And many of those deaths were due to the Trump administration's negligent reaction to the pandemic, and Trump's lies about how it would all go away.

9/11 was horrific. Close friends of our lost their 41 year old son and father of 3 small children -- and there were hundreds and hundreds of heart-breaking stories like that on that day.

J6, IMO was just as horrific, if not more, because it was caused by our own citizens, urged on to violence at the Capitol by a sitting president, Donald J. Trump! Also, we've learned that many law enforcement people and ex-military personnel were providing help to the insurrectionist and some were even rioting with them.

The problem with S.F.'s comment is his (and others') willful mischaracterization of what happened that day.

"Idiotic?" That's how people describe something like a high school caper gone bad. And "shit show?" That's how people describe a FUBAR -- something that didn't come out the way it was planned.

S.F. is not being honest in his characterization, and we know it. The problem with that is their tribalism and inability to come to terms with the horror of what J6 and what it unleashed in this country.

For the first time in modern history, a sitting president tried to stop the legal and peaceful transfer of power of the presidency from the loser to the winner of an election.

And last week's J6 hearing showed, without any doubt, that Trump KNEW HE LOST but continued to lie, lie, lie about his loss, and his lackeys went along with the Big Lie.

As we said after 9/11, we will never be the same -- and J6 showed us once again: We will never be the same.

How sad that people like S.F., who's smart and articulate, pretend that the assault on our very foundational norms was just an idiotic" shit show."

Tribalism will destroy this country. (See the Mother Ship's reaction to a legal trial and outcome!)

Shaw Kenawe said...

PS. I should have written "Tribalism IS DESTROYING this country. Because I see this happening every day.

Ms Shaw, Of course you 35% of voters support trump which is totally unfounded. If you believe that 35% of republicans support you are still incorrect. I have many acquaintances who voted for trump but would not support him again. It is a broad based poll of 10 republicans and two said the would vote for him again so it is 10% of voters who support trump or 20% of republicans.

How about acknowledging warp speed as a contributing factor in saving lives. If the vaccine was developed under normal FDA guidelines we wouldn't have it until 2024. Maybe biden can initiate warp speed on gas production. I know that would never happen because AOC wold be mad. Instead he is selling off our oil reserves, which are held for a national emergency, to buy some votes. He seems to be all in on abortion winning the election and ignore his horrible performance.

Trump lost and we all need to move on except that is about all the democrats have to run on, hate trump vote democrat. Now biden says vote democrat and I will pass a law making abortion legal. Where was he for the last 45 years trying to make that happen.

Les Carpenter said...

Threat is very real. Especially since so many otherwise intelligent folks continue to support tRump's & the gop's newfound fascism.

That and White Supremacy and Christian religious Nationalism will destroy our republic if not stopped.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw... idiotic is the folks who call themselves Republicans today. You mentioned the gobshites, well here's another sampling...

"DID ANY OF YOU SEE THIS INFORMATION ON CRAB FISHING IN ALASKA YESTERDAY ON JESSE WATTERS’ SHOW?

This might not be the most fascinating, interesting, even consequential information you’ve ever blogged about but it seems to me yet another way to get people shut down, to find something else to blame on climate change, to make US stop eating the products of God’s earth and eating fake everything."

Yes, stopping the crab fishing for a year after 90% of the crop suddenly disappeared, so we can find out the cause and work to make sure the fishery survives, is all part of a plot to make the US stop eating real food and make us all eat "fake everything."

To quote Bugs Bunny... "What a bunch of maroons."

The toxic Radical White Right is reaching a lethal level.

Many already say they won't accept an electoral defeat and will deny the will of the voters and try to overturn any loss. They are fascists. It's what they do.

But if their Dear Leader the Big MAGAt meets some justice, they're bound to lose some steam.

It's been a rough week for the Orange Fuhrer.

Ruh, roh! Part One:

First Durham falls flat, and now this:

DOJ Prosecutors say they now have enough evidence to charge Donald J Trump with Obstruction of Justice after investigating his theft of Top Secret/Classified Documents.

It looks like he will be charged with Obstruction of Justice.

Ruh, roh! Part Two:

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the release of emails from John Eastman, a former Donald Trump attorney, to House investigators, saying the communications were made in furtherance of a crime related to Trump’s efforts to subvert the 2020 election.

“The emails show that President Trump knew that the specific numbers of voter fraud were wrong but continued to tout those numbers, both in court and to the public,” Judge David O. Carter wrote.

“The Court finds that these emails are sufficiently related to and in furtherance of a conspiracy to defraud the United States,” he added.

Obstruction of Justice AND Conspiracy to Defraud the United States.

Ruh, roh! Part Three:

E. Jean Carroll attorneys have asked for Trump's DNA.

Dave M. It's apparent that the Captain of the Mother Ship doesn't read beyond headlines she gets from FAUX NOOZ, otherwise, she'd not make herself look so foolish and uninformed for all the world to see.

Dave Dubya It looks like this will turn out to be a horrible, terrible, very bad week for Trump. I wonder how he'll wiggle out of all the allegations and evidence against him? Do you think this time he won't?

Shaw Kenawe said...

Infidel753, I'm afraid your comparison between 9/11 and J6 is too nuanced for the average Trumper to internalize. They don't see themselves as subverting the Constitution because of a cult leader, and they don't make the connection between an attack from the enemy without and the enemy within.

LesWe've come this far in learning, through facts and evidence, how corrupt Trump and his enablers are, yet his cultists still refuse to see the evil he represents and the danger to our democratic republic. People like THIS GUY are unreachable. And there are millions of them, like him, determined to believe in Trump's Big Lie.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Sorry, Les, that link is broken. Here's the "GUY" I referred to, and here's his insane posting about the Big Lie. PS. This guy fancies himself a "man of God:"

Ed Bonderenka: "Day 619 of the coup, the theft of the American Government, by enemies both foreign and domestic.

Our federal government has been stolen by the illegal actions of leftist politicians.
And they have no regard for you or yours. Only they and theirs.

We have been the victims of a vast criminal enterprise.

There’s a movie and a play called An Ideal Husband, and the plot is that this incredibly moral and upright Victorian politician has a touch of scandal in his past. He was associated with a plan to get the British government to invest in a canal that would be a boondoggle and only enrich the investors.
Imagine that. A politician brought down by scandal involving personal gain from holding office.
How quaint. You could never set that play in modern times.
Where is the outrage? Where is the outcry? Are the people insensitive to the politicians who make decisions based on their investments in or payments from Communist China?

And then they have the gall to call us fascists and domestic terrorists.

This is spiritual warfare. Good vs Evil. As many of our guests have rightly pointed out, our Founders were Christians, and our government was founded on Christian morality and principles.

Christianity is the source of good is this world, and the evil ones seek to destroy it and this nation.

We are at war."

Trump himself said he lost, and Trump's own AG, FBI head, Election Security Guy, and 60+ lost court cases about his fake "election fraud," are ignored by dedicated nuts like the guy above. And there are millions of them across this country.

We are in a lot of trouble because of nuts like him.

skudrunner said...

Ms. Shaw, So a poll of 1000 people determined that 47% of republicans support trump to run. That convinces me he has support. It is well acknowledged that he didn't do enough to get needles into arms. It is also well acknowledged that people are ignorant and there is no reason to not get shot.

I give a flying donut about the deterioration of this country from record high inflation, rising crime with no punishment, an open border, rising deaths from illegal drugs crossing the border which I guess doesn't interest you.

To some this is just a cycle and no big deal but to others who need to feed their kids and keep them safe it is a big deal. Now instead of relaxing needless regulations on the oil industry that he promised to destroy he wants them to use profits to bring down costs. Lets use our political oil reserves to bring down prices which leave us vulnerable in case we really need it just to buy a few votes. At least Truss had the decency to resign over incompetence.

Les Carpenter said...

skud, ya really ought to give a flying doughnut about the ignorance, fear, otherism, and greed that drives folks like the folks that took part in and supported (and continue to support) tRump's insurrection attempt on J6 2021.

But maybe that's just me and you're right. Maybe this nation will have no problem with fascism and authoritarianism any more. But I highly doubt it

skudrunner said...

Leslie, It is good to hear that you don't rely on an incompetent government to make decisions on your behalf. You are one of a minority who is well off enough to not need their investments to pay off in order to live well, good for you.

Les Carpenter said...

The government makes about as many decision for skud as it does for you.

I just don't view reality as you do skud. Nor do I blame my problems on the government.

It's as simple as that skud.

Have a goid day.
