Tuesday will be just the beginning of Trump's problems with the law:

I'm guessing that the Trump cultists (who promise to protest Trump's courtroom appearance on Tuesday) will also ignore this damning evidence of Trump's lawless behavior, and they'll blame the DoJ, or George Soros, or Barack Obama for making Trump face accountability for his many (alleged at this time) crimes.

Washington Post:

Justice Department and FBI investigators have amassed fresh evidence pointing to possible obstruction by former president Donald Trump in the investigation into top-secret documents found at his Mar-a-Lago home, according to people familiar with the matter. The additional evidence comes as investigators have used emails and text messages from a former Trump aide to help understand key moments last year, said the people, who like others interviewed for this article spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing criminal investigation.

The new details highlight the degree to which special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the potential mishandling of hundreds of classified national security papers at Trump’s Florida home and private club has come to focus on the obstruction elements of the case — whether the former president took or directed actions to impede government efforts to collect all the sensitive records.

The cultists are, by their acceptance and fierce support of Trump and his behavior and lies in office (and now out of office), are exposing their own character flaws and their overt acceptance of flagrant dishonesty.

With 30% of America either supporting or ignoring (thereby excusing) Trump's actions and behaviors they are, in essence, fueling the continuation of a very dangerous trend in American conservatism and libertarianism.

Tomorrow is gonna be an interesting day. But make no mistake, there should be no joy in Mudville.

While we can affirm the need for the rule of law to prevail, as a country, we've literally never been here before. Presidents have lied for years, even taking into deadly years long wars. Political leaders have skirted laws before, all under the guise of "what's good for America."

But maybe the tide has turned. And if it has, someone was going to be first. Perhaps Trump is the sacrificial lamb. Who knows.

But what we do know is this... That sense of exceptionalism American has long claimed, does not seem as bright today as it once did.

I'll be watching tomorrow. Not with glee, but with a certainty that if John Q Public can be indicted, charged, tried and potentially convicted of a crime, the US political classes should, if they run afoul of the law, face the same as well.

This was sent to me by a friend, and it reflects how I feel about Tuesday:

"We keep witnessing how Trump's crimes keep getting bolder the more that he avoids accountability. Critics of Bragg's as yet unseen indictments claim the crimes being charged are not big enough to use against a former POTUS. But we have seen how this former POTUS is emboldened every time he skates justice. First he avoided fraud charges over his scam university. Then he happily accepted illegal election help from a foreign adversary. Next he obstructed the investigation into that offense. Afterwards he claimed a "perfect" right to extort the leader of Ukraine to launch a fake investigation of the Bidens. That led to an array of crimes surrounding the 2020 election, culminating in a failed coup attempt he incited. The theft and hiding of highly classified documents should come as no surprise given all of the crimes that Trump has been allowed to commit unpunished. And people on both sides know for certain it will only get worse if he gets away again. Sadly, his enablers are willing to accept any outcome if that benefits them politically. Trump has even called for the termination of our Constitution so that he can rule indefinitely. Think about that on Tuesday."

As I have said on many comment boards--if TFG would have just kept his big fat ego in check and not run for President, the country would be so much better off and he would still be enjoying raking in the money while screwing over everyone with his fake university and fake foundation while flying under the radar as he has always done being the head of a private company. Hold a public office (and not just any public office but the highest public office in the country) and you should and are held to a much higher standard. Something TFG could NEVER do.

Your friend Shaw, said it well. With spot on accuracy (truthfulness).

No one should be gleeful over Trump's current situation. But it is satisfying in that justice may finally be served. Attempting a coup, even though it failed, was a serious crime. Some consider it treasonous. Which in my book it was.

When all the other things he did as he thumbed his nose at the rule of law and our democracy are considered, it is clear he needs to be held accountable for his actions.

The greatest concern i have is Trump ever again being allowed to hold an office o public trust. Trump is a person who has no respect for truth, the rule of law, or common decency.

He needs to be held accountable. Like any common citizensl would be were they to attempt what Trump has done.

Don't ever underestimate what the enemies do. It's too soon for us to take a victory lap and celebrate. If anyone on our side gets too cocky, we're in for bigly trouble.
