IMPORTANT!

Tired of listening to Trump's statements on the Covid-19 that have to be corrected? To his blaming others for his incompetence?

Joe Biden will be giving shadow briefings on the Covid-19 starting Monday. Watch to see how a real president would handle giving out salient information and comforting the American people.

So far Trump has had to have his statements on vaccines for the Covid-19 corrected right after saying them, and when asked a soft ball question about what he would say to scared Americans, Trump exploded in rage at the reporter who asked the question. Another bit of evidence that shows how emotionally and mentally unstable Trump is, and what a useless leader in a time of crisis he has proved himself to be.

IMAGE FROM POLITICO

Joe Biden is planning a regular shadow briefing on coronavirus to start as early as Monday to show how he would handle the crisis and address what he calls the lies and failures of President Trump. Biden gave a preview of what’s to come in a conference call with reporters Friday, where he listed a litany of false and misleading statements from Trump, who has been holding regular White House press conferences concerning coronavirus preparedness and response that have been broadcast live on all major networks.

“President Trump stop saying false things, will ya?” Biden said. “People are worried they are really frightened, when these things don't come through. He just exacerbates their concern. Stop saying false things you think make you sound like a hero and start putting the full weight of the federal government behind finding fast, safe and effective treatments.”

This is how a frightened and cowardly person reacts to an innocent question:

This was a legitimate question, the response is inexcusable. Trump's change in tone didn't last long. https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1241041500936568838 …

Consevative writer, Mona Charon: "The crisis is here, and we’ve put a serial liar and cheat in the big chair. We must never do anything so reckless again.

From the ultra conservative publication called the National Review:

"Trump did not create the virus, but his solipsism has deepened the crisis. What is his chief talking point? That he halted flights from China. He did this on January 31, AFTER major airlines such as United, Delta, and American had already canceled dozens of flights and waived cancellation fees for their passengers."

After This, Voters Will Take Their Responsibility SeriouslyBy MONA CHAREN

The crisis is here, and look who’s in charge of handling it.

‘Let’s blow it all up.” That was the sentiment that animated any number of Republican-primary voters in 2016. The “it” was (take your pick) the Republican Party, the “establishment,” the country. There were many good reasons for voters to be dissatisfied with the state of things in 2016. There were also any number of able candidates who could have instituted reforms. But that wasn’t the mood, at least not for the nihilistic 30 percent. It’s hard to think of a less conservative impulse than “Burn it Down!” But that’s what this minority did, voting for the malignant narcissist who had never served anything other than his bottom line."

Devin Nunes: Abject idiot.

Devin Nunes Just Went on Fox News and Told Viewers, “It’s a Great Time to Go Out”

.............................

It...flies in the face of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the federal government’s leading expert on infectious diseases, telling people on the Sunday morning shows to stop going out—and that he wouldn’t go to a restaurant right now.

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Face The Nation: “Personally, I wouldn't go to a restaurant”

Trump. “Go shopping.” “Relax. We’re doing great. This will pass.”

Whom do you believe? An expert for over 30 years in infectious diseases or a failed businessman with 11 bankruptcies who thinks windmills cause cancer and is a documented liar?

TRUMP'S OWN WORDS ON THE CORONAVIRUS

TRUMP'S OWN WORDS ON CORONAVIRUS.
January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”
February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”

February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.”
February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”
February 28: Trump said at a rally: Coronavirus is a democratic ”Hoax”.
March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”
March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
March 2: Trump says a vaccine is coming "relatively soon” but the CDC had told him earlier that day that a vaccine was "a year to a year and a half" away.
March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
March 5: “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
March 6: “I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
March 6: As the number of cases and deaths in Italy rises, Trump says "I hear the numbers getting much better in Italy"
March 6: “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
March 6: “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6: “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”
March 8: “We have a perfectly coordinated and fine-tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.”
March 9: “This blindsided the world."
March 13: When reporter Kristen Welker of NBC asks Trump whether he takes responsibility for the lag in making test kits available.
Trump’s reply:
"No.
I don’t take responsibility at all."

The GOP's president is incompetent, or a liar, or both.

In a time of national emergency, it would be nice if America were led by a competent, trustworthy, truth-teller.

Unfortunately, the GOP's president is none of those things. He's a liar and incompetent. His address to the nation on Wednesday was riddled with falsehoods and wrong information that his own people had to walk back and clarify. How could trump have gotten so much wrong in such a critical address to the nation?

We have no leadership at a time when it is sorely needed.

Fact checkers have been busy correcting the lies and inaccurate information the incompetent POTUS is giving out at a time when America needs strong, capable leadership.

"FACT CHECK

Trump’s False Claims About His Response to the Coronavirus

The president inaccurately described travel restrictions he had announced, falsely blamed his predecessor for testing shortages and misstated the role Google was playing in mitigating the outbreak.

Mr. Trump wrongly blamed the Obama administration for coronavirus testing shortages and falsely said it “didn’t do testing” during the swine flu epidemic of 2009.

WHAT MR. TRUMP SAID “I don’t take responsibility at all because we were given a set of circumstances and we were given rules, regulations, and specifications from a different time.” False.

The Food and Drug Administration issued a “draft guidance” in 2014 in which it sought to extend its authority to regulate laboratory-developed tests. But it’s wrong to blame that effort for the scattered and insufficient delivery of coronavirus tests as the guidance was not particularly relevant to emergency situations and was never finalized or generally enforced.

A law enacted in 2004 created the process and requirements for the use of unapproved products in public health emergencies. Under the law and guidance set by the Trump administration itself, the Food and Drug Administration requires developers of laboratory-developed tests to submit information and to comply with certain procedures.

WHAT MR. TRUMP SAID

“If you go back to the swine flu, it was nothing like this. They didn’t do testing like this, and actually they lost approximately 14,000 people, and they didn’t do the testing. They started thinking about testing when it was far too late.” False.

This is blatantly wrong. Diagnostic tests for the swine flu were approved and shipped out less than two weeks after the H1N1 virus was identified and a day before the first death in the United States."

David Remnick, The New Yorker:

"Trump’s misstatements and understatements in recent weeks are consistent with his general attitude toward empiricism. Which is to say, he has never shown much regard for fact. In the past, Trump has said that climate change is a Chinese “hoax” and that “vaccines can be very dangerous.”

Disinformation and misinformation are rampant in his mental universe. Trump recently gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh, who said, last month, “The coronavirus is the common cold, folks.”

One of Trump’s ardent supporters in the Senate, Tom Cotton, of Arkansas, is among those who have suggested publicly that “we at least need to ask the question” of whether the virus was a bioweapon deliberately created in a Chinese laboratory outside the city of Wuhan—a theory rehashed in places like the Washington Times."

The Wednesday night fiasco by Trump

Here's Charlie Pierce's take after witnessing Trump fiasco of a speech on Wednesday night:

"If you didn't get a chance to hear the worst, most counter-productive, most addled, confused and confusing presidential* address in history, please take a moment to watch it on YouTube.

The stock futures market plunged 1100 points in a few minutes after this "reassuring" emission of babble and lies.

The White House and separate federal agencies hurried to issue "clarifications" of the misstatements in the PREPARED TEXT of the speech - not ad libs. These included:

 1. "Trump" said cargo would be included, and all trade. False

 2. "Trump" said it was a complete travel ban. False - we will continue to admit all red-blooded American virus carriers

 3. "Trump" said UK was the only excluded nation. False

 4. "Trump" said he was ordering insurance companies to treat coronavirus patients without charge. False - only testing will be free.

It was the worst moment so far for a very bad presidency* which has been a cascading series of worsening moments.

In a sane country his own party would gather to ease him out of office right now = THIS WEEK - before he murders millions of Americans. No telling how many who are alive right now will die because of this man. And forty percent of Americans have lost their minds."

I guess trump no longer believes the Covid-19 is a "Democrat Hoax." As the young'uns say: "Shit's getting real."

Today trump declared a national emergency in his latest bid to combat the escalating coronavirus crisis. Trump said the move would free up $50 billion in additional funding. He also said the order would allow Health and Human Services to waive certain regulations and laws to more quickly deliver testing and care for coronavirus patients.

"No resource will be spared," Trump said.

Trump's decision comes after his administration has faced weeks of criticism for failing to adequately respond to the spreading disease, which has killed more than 5,000 people worldwide and infected tens of thousands.

Too little too late. Where was this resolve in January?

The Trump Presidency Is Over
It has taken a good deal longer than it should have, but Americans have now seen the con man behind the curtain.

-----------

It took until the second half of Trump’s first term, but the crisis has arrived in the form of the coronavirus pandemic, and it’s hard to name a president who has been as overwhelmed by a crisis as the coronavirus has overwhelmed Donald Trump.

---

The president’s misinformation and mendacity about the coronavirus are head-snapping. He claimed that it was contained in America when it was actually spreading. He claimed that we had “shut it down” when we had not. He claimed that testing was available when it wasn’t. He claimed that the coronavirus will one day disappear “like a miracle”; it won’t. He claimed that a vaccine would be available in months; Fauci says it will not be available for a year or more.

Trump falsely blamed the Obama administration for impeding coronavirus testing. He stated that the coronavirus first hit the United States later than it actually did. (He said that it was three weeks prior to the point at which he spoke; the actual figure was twice that.) The president claimed that the number of cases in Italy was getting “much better” when it was getting much worse. And in one of the more stunning statements an American president has ever made, Trump admitted that his preference was to keep a cruise ship off the California coast rather than allowing it to dock, because he wanted to keep the number of reported cases of the coronavirus artificially low.

-----

“I like the numbers,” Trump said. “I would rather have the numbers stay where they are. But if they want to take them off, they’ll take them off. But if that happens, all of a sudden your 240 [cases] is obviously going to be a much higher number, and probably the 11 [deaths] will be a higher number too.” (Cooler heads prevailed, and over the president’s objections, the Grand Princess was allowed to dock at the Port of Oakland.)

On and on it goes.

To make matters worse, the president delivered an Oval Office address that was meant to reassure the nation and the markets but instead shook both. The president’s delivery was awkward and stilted; worse, at several points, the president, who decided to ad-lib the teleprompter speech, misstated his administration’s own policies, which the administration had to correct. Stock futures plunged even as the president was still delivering his speech. In his address, the president called for Americans to “unify together as one nation and one family,” despite having referred to Washington Governor Jay Inslee as a “snake” days before the speech and attacking Democrats the morning after it. As The Washington Post’s Dan Balz put it, “Almost everything that could have gone wrong with the speech did go wrong.”

-----

Taken together, this is a massive failure in leadership that stems from a massive defect in character. Trump is such a habitual liar that he is incapable of being honest, even when being honest would serve his interests. He is so impulsive, shortsighted, and undisciplined that he is unable to plan or even think beyond the moment. He is such a divisive and polarizing figure that he long ago lost the ability to unite the nation under any circumstances and for any cause. And he is so narcissistic and unreflective that he is completely incapable of learning from his mistakes. The president’s disordered personality makes him as ill-equipped to deal with a crisis as any president has ever been. With few exceptions, what Trump has said is not just useless; it is downright injurious.

----

It has taken a good deal longer than it should have, but Americans have now seen the con man behind the curtain. The president, enraged for having been unmasked, will become more desperate, more embittered, more unhinged. He knows nothing will be the same. His administration may stagger on, but it will be only a hollow shell. The Trump presidency is over

Dr. Fauci: "It is a failing. Let's admit it."

CORONAVIRUS'It is a failing. Let's admit it,' Fauci says of coronavirus testing capacity“The system is not really geared to what we need right now,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a House hearing.

America has failed to meet the capacity for coronavirus testing that it needs, a top public health official publicly acknowledged Thursday. “The system is not really geared to what we need right now,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a House hearing about coronavirus test kits in the United States, which were initially dogged by technical glitches. “That is a failing. Let’s admit it.”

TRUMP TELLS AMERICA THAT THE COVID-19 ISN'T A "DEMOCRAT HOAX" AFTERALL.

A few weeks ago the "stable genius" was calling the covid-19 virus a "Democrat Hoax" and that we'll all be fine in a few weeks. Nothing to see here.

Last Friday, the "stable genius" showed up at the CDC wearing a campaign hat and, with his usual narcissistic take on everything, what should have been a chance to educate the American people on the virus, was made into an event about himself. He spoke about his "genius" uncle who taught at MIT and segued into how much he understood about the virus and considered himself an expert on covid-19 because he said the experts were blown away by his understanding of it. He said that with a straigh orange face while the experts surrounding him all threw up a little in their mouths.

Last night the "stable genius" in a 10 minute talk to the nation admitted that perhaps the covid-19 isn't a "Democrat Hoax" afterall, and tried to reassure the American people that he, whose leadership has been disgraceful, scatterbrained, and deceiful, is doing a great job.

He isn't.

Remember this: Donald J. Trump is a liar, a cheat, and a fraud. He's been so for his entire life. I believe NOTHING he says.

In the time of the covid-19, I believe Dr. Fauci and the CDC. And Dr. Fauci said the covid-19 is TEN TIMES WORSE THAN THE FLU.

We learned that the CDC strongly advised that people over 60 years old NOT FLY. The trump administration chose not to pass that bit of safety information to the American people, at the same time the "stable genius" and the rightwing media told the American people that the virus is a plot to "make him look bad."

It's always about him, isn't it.

Now the "stable genius" wants us to believe that he has things under control and that he has the American people's welfare as a priority. That's a lie. The "stable genius" is worried about the stock market and how this virus will impact his re-election. That's first and foremost in his demented mind.

"In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure." And it has tried to defund the CDC. Those are facts that the "stable genius" did not mention in his inadequate address to the nation last night.

TRUMP FIRED THE ENTIRE PANDEMIC RESPONSE CHAIN OF COMMAND.

As we watch the markets tank and organizations and schools cancel their scheduled meetings, sporting events, and classes, we wish that a competent, informed person, like President Obama, were in charge of this crisis, instead of a malignant narcissist who cares only for himself and his re-election, and whose first response to this crisis was to call it a HOAX!

The president woke up on Thursday and assailed Democrats hours after he implored lawmakers to “stop the partisanship.” Then the markets cratered, unassuaged by his economic proposals.

"WASHINGTON — If President Trump’s goals in his prime-time address to the nation were to reassure Americans and unify the country in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, it seems safe to say that he achieved neither as of Thursday morning.

The stock markets collapsed another 7 percent in early trading, indicating that investors were hardly assuaged by the president’s 30-day suspension of most foreign travelers coming from Europe or his policy proposals to boost the economy. And his call to “stop the partisanship” ended as soon as he woke up and began issuing partisan attacks on Democrats."

Charlie Pierce:

"Trump and the officials quickly walked back his nationally-televised statements that

1) the administration would ban all travel from Europe to the United States,

2) the ban would also apply to trade and cargo between the US and Europe, and

3) major health insurers would waive co-pays on coronavirus treatment."

"You knew it was all going to go terribly wrong in the first few sentences when the president* referred to the source of the pandemic as “a foreign virus”—This is the most aggressive and comprehensive effort to confront a foreign virus in modern history.—as though it were something Stephen Miller could lock in a cage and then deport. And, of course, the claim was as false as it was stupid.

As the Washington Post helpfully points out, the administration*’s response to this outbreak has been to deny it, ignore it, downplay it, and now to use it as an excuse to ram through some tax cuts, a form of antibiotics that Joseph Lister never thought of.

That was not the speech of a president*. That was not even the speech of a bad president*. That was not even the speech of the worst president* we ever elected. It was the desperate wailing of a man who has fallen down a well, and there’s nobody up there to hear him."

When we need a real leader, Trump fails.

His narcissism is a grave danger to our health.

The coronavirus is no longer just a slow-moving public health crisis that may soon turn into a rapid-moving one. It’s a crisis of transparency. It’s a crisis of government legitimacy. So it is in this spirit that we all have to say: enough. Whose side is the Trump administration on? Based on every public appearance we’ve seen so far — whether it’s from a cabinet member or the director of the Centers for Disease Control or the president himself — the answer is clear: not the public’s. President Trump, hellbent on re-election, is focused on massaging numbers and silencing bearers of bad news. That’s what autocrats do. And it’s endangering lives.

On Saturday, The Associated Press reported that Trump overruled his own health officials, who wanted to warn older Americans and the fragile against flying on commercial airlines. Our storied C.D.C., now annexed by politicians, continues to insist that only the most floridly symptomatic patients be tested for the virus. Even that remains a challenge: Last week, it refused to test an ailing nurse in Northern California who’d treated a positive patient, prompting the head of National Nurses United to read her story aloud at a news conference.

At a Friday news conference at the C.D.C., Trump told reporters that tests for the coronavirus were now available to anyone who needed one. Yet just afterward, we heard from governor after governor and doctor after doctor that this is categorically untrue, with states in dire need of more tests. “We have no local testing available,” Dr. Walter Mills, president of the California Academy of Family Physicians, told The San Jose Mercury News.

Good Morning. This is the GOP's preznit advising Americans on the Coronavirus. IGNORE HIM!

The GOP's preznit tweeted this today:

Trump is a sick, unbalanced man, grossly incompetent and unable to lead America during this Coronavirus threat.

May I remind everyone of this:

No one who served in the Obama administration was indicted or went to jail for corruption. No one.

Seven people close to Trump in his administration have been indicted and are in jail.

Michael Flynn is awaiting sentencing. He's already pleaded GUILTY.

The Mueller Report stated that “If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.”

And Trump was IMPEACHED, but the Senate partisans acquitted him.

THIS PERFECTLY DESCRIBES TRUMP IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS

Trump: The Little Boy Pretender.

"Trump is continuing his Panglossian handling of the coronavirus. 'The tests are beautiful!' he said as he toured the C.D.C. Friday evening, after a kerfuffle over delays in testing. 'The tests are all perfect, like the letter was perfect, the transcription was perfect,' he added, referring to his communication with the president of Ukraine. 'This is the highest-level test anywhere.' 'I like this stuff, I really get it,' he said, adding that maybe he should have become a scientist, like his uncle the 'super genius,' instead of running for president.

Meanwhile, the stock market is still freaking out and financial angst is spreading from boardrooms to kitchen tables.

We can vividly see in this crisis how close to the surface Trump’s id is and how easily he cleaves to delusions. He personalizes everything so much that when things go bad, he can only see it as an attack on him by the forces out to get him.

He seems psychologically incapable of dealing with a virus that is complex and uncertain. The virus will be in every community and needs truth, honesty and intelligence — all absent from the unstable Trump, who at his core is a frightened boy and pretender."

Saturday, March 7, 2020

"Dr." Trump is impressed with himself.

The guy who suggested using a flu vaccine to innoculate against the coronavirus now tells the world that the experts in the field of infectious disease think he's brilliant and naturally knows all about such matters.

This is the sort of idiocy that can endanger our country:

Image may contain: 1 person, possible text that says 'CC 9:14 AM Laurence Tribe @tribelaw 100% Trump: "People are really surprised understand this stuff. And here's the idiot preznit acting like a junior high school mean girl. Governor Jay Inslee didn't suck up to him, so he's retaliating against him:

"I told Mike [Pence] not to be complimentary of the governor, because that governor is a snake."

Trump encourages people who feel ill to go to work.

The GOP's idiot preznit:

Running roughshod over the advice of trained medical professionals and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, President Donald Trump Wednesday night suggested to millions of Fox News viewers that people infected with coronavirus could still go to work and recover, comments that were immediately condemned as irresponsible and dangerous.

"A lot of people will have this and it's very mild. They'll get better very rapidly," Trump told Fox's Sean Hannity. "They don't even see a doctor, they don't even call a doctor. You never hear about those people."

TRUMP IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS

Trump to Hannity on WHO saying coronavirus death rate is 3.4%: "I think the 3.4% number is really a false number. Now this is just my hunch, but based on a lot of conversations ... personally, I'd say the number is way under 1%."

Astoundingly irresponsible.

Trump:
1. Denies WHO's coronavirus death rate based on “hunch"
2. Calls coronavirus "corona flu"
3. Suggests it's fine for people w/ Covid-19 to go to work
4. Compares coronavirus to "the regular flu," indicating he doesn't get the difference

Biden Wins Big

JUST IN: Dow jumps 700 points after Biden scores key wins on Super Tuesday.

Super Tuesday was a winner for Joe Biden. He beat Elizabeth Warren in her own state where he spent very little $$$ campaigning! After Biden’s big win South Carolina, opponents quickly dropped out and endorsed him, and all the media coverage afterward helped him overcome some basic campaign fundamentals. He has already been declared the winner in nine of 14 Super Tuesday state contests, and two remain too close to call. Biden is now the biggest comeback kid in a presidential primary in American history.

The Democrats are energized, and the turnout was massive, indicating that people want to get rid of the orange virus in the Oval Office.

Steve Schmidt just captured the zeitgeist of it all in one sentence:

If it is Biden vs Trump, the election is simply "Good man vs Bad man".

That's easy to sell, easy to sloganeer.

Easy to win.

The overwhelming majority of America is experiencing Trump fatigue.

Running as "Good man vs Bad man" works.

Americans know the inherent goodness of Joe Biden.

They know he will hire patriots to run government agencies.

They know he's not evil.

And that's really all that the majority of an exhausted nation wants.

Tuesday, March 3, 2020

The GOP's cult leader, Trump, doesn't have a clue about the coronavirus.

I keep saying this: The president is absolutely a clear and present danger to all Americans. Can you believe that this idiot wants to unleash an untried and untested vaccine on the public, before the election, for strictly political purposes.

America, if you ever thought that Trump really gave a damn about you, now you have your answer.

Trump’s ignorance was on public display during coronavirus meeting with pharmaceutical execs

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already said it will take up to 18 months to develop a vaccine for Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus — a time frame much shorter than the usual two- to five-year window.

There are straightforward reasons it’s impossible to roll out new vaccines for public consumption overnight: They need to be developed, tested for effectiveness and safety during trials, approved by regulators, manufactured, and then distributed. Each of those steps takes time. At one point during the meeting, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, tried to explain to the president that it would be at least a year and probably closer to 18 months before a coronavirus vaccine could be available to the public.

But Trump didn’t want to hear it, and kept pressing the executives to come up with something before November’s election. “I mean, I like the sound of a couple months better, if I must be honest,” Trump said, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the “couple months” time frame execs mentioned merely referred to a vaccine being ready for trials.

Image may contain: possible text that says '"It's going to disappear. One day it's like a miracle, it will disappear. And from our shores, you know, it could get worse before it gets better. Trump in the time of pandemic.

Trump on being asked about the spread of the coronavirus in the U.S.:

‘WELL, I DON’T THINK IT’S INEVITABLE. IT PROBABLY WILL, IT POSSIBLY WILL. IT COULD BE AT A VERY SMALL LEVEL OR IT COULD BE AT A LARGER LEVEL. WHATEVER HAPPENS, WE’RE TOTALLY PREPARED.’

"Trump said that Democrats are using the virulent coronavirus as a “hoax” to damage him and his administration."

"At one point, the president said the virus might not hit the United States, (two Americans have died at the time of this post)  contradicting a warning from the top official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who said the day before that it’s now only a matter of when and how far the virus will spread."

"Trump said the United States is 'rapidly developing a vaccine' for the coronavirus and would "essentially have a flu shot for this in a fairly quick manner." But Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in the same press conference that a vaccine was likely a year to a year and a half away. That would still be quick, but not fast enough to help manage the current outbreak."

Trump's faith adviser: "You don't need a flu shot because Jesus will protect you."
