How good to hear a "pop music" star again who could actually SING! It's been a very long time since legitimate voices were part of the genre.

The song is nakedly sentimental, but very sweet and beautifully performed. And what better occasion for unabashed sentiment than this day dedicated as a tribute to Mamas past and present everywhere?

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you, Miss Shaw. I know it's a bittersweet occasion for you, but I hope today will bring you joy.

If the picture you posted is of your own Mama , I have to say she was beautiful.

PS: Didn't you love the picture of that lovely, old-gashiined kitchen with the big sink unenclosed at the bottom? It reminded me of the kitchens where my mother, grandma, great aunts, aunts -- and uncles -- regularly performed culinary miracles. I miss the warmth and comforting aura of security and absolute, unconditional love, loyalty and acceptance we knew in those faraway days.

nice song. I wish I understood French.

okjimm, French? LOL!

Mr. Free Thinke. Yes. That is my mother, and yes, she was beautiful, intelligent, and loving--at least that's what people told me.

And yes, every Mothers Day is bittersweet.

I was told that she was also an excellent cook. Her specialty was homemade soups. Something I have been told I am good at. I guess it is genetic. I never learned from her, but somehow it was passed on to me.

I hope you had a wonderful day remembering your wonderful mother and all the women who worked so diligently in those low-tech kitchens and created the most scrumptious meals imaginable.

PS. I was never a Jerry Vale fan, but when he sings that song I have to admit I get a bit weepy.
