When the going gets tough, Trump the Wimp gets going.

Criticism against the Trumpster by Republicans and Democrats has resulted in Donald Trump, at the last minute, pulling out of a Republican forum he was going to attend in South Carolina on Friday. Using "he's gotta close a deal" as an excuse, the little coward backed out as more people call him out for not condemning the crazy guy in New Hampshire who claimed President Obama was not an American citizen, but a Muslim, and that President Obama wants to kill him.

"We have a problem in this country. It's called Muslims," an unidentified man who spoke at a question-and-answer town hall event in Rochester, New Hampshire asked the mogul at a rally Thursday night.

"You know our current president is one. You know he's not even an American."

A seemingly bewildered Trump interrupted the man, chuckling, "We need this question. This is the first question."

"Anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill us," the man, wearing a "Trump" T-shirt, continued. "That's my question: When can we get rid of them?"

"We're going to be looking at a lot of different things," Trump replied. "You know, a lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening. We're going to be looking at that and many other things."

The real estate mogul did not correct the questioner about his claims about Obama before moving on to another audience member.

From Politicususa:

Donald Trump is proving that there is no spine behind his bluster. Instead of facing the music for his birtherism, Trump has gone into hiding. The excuse that Trump had to back out of a big public event at the last minute because of a business deal closing doesn’t wash, because Donald Trump has business deals closing all of the time.

Anyone who isn’t a Republican doesn’t believe in the birther conspiracy. By not correcting his supporters who claimed during a rally yesterday that the President is a foreign born Muslim, Trump has doomed himself to fringes of the Republican Party. The campaign has gotten hard for Trump, and his first reaction was to run away and hide. How is Trump supposed to make America great again when he can’t handle negative media coverage?

So the wind bag is starting to collapse, and his wimpiness, his cowardice in not standing up to the obviously crazy idiot who slandered the US president is there for all to see.

If you can't stand up to a feeble-minded dolt, Donnie, you're not fit to be president of a sewing circle, never mind the most powerful country on the planet.

Trumps brilliant response to the moron who said Obama wasn't an American and was trying to kill him:

“We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things,” Trump said. “A lot of people are saying that, a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.”

Chance the Gardner couldn't have said it better.

Another explanation is that Trump himself really believes Obama is, or could well be, a "foreign-born Muslim", and didn't correct the questioner because he basically agrees with him. Trump is one of the original birth-certificate loons.

Either way, pulling out of the Heritage Forum does show a thin skin and a fear of challenge -- but so did his prolonged Twitter meltdown over Megyn Kelly after the first debate.

Trump has doomed himself to fringes of the Republican Party.

The trouble is that these days the lunatic fringe of the Republican party seems to be about 80% of it. It's true that they'll turn on him if they ever perceive him as weak, but he'll soon find some way to put up a façade of going on the offensive.

Republicans have been shamelessly fueling and exploiting the racism and conspiracy paranoia of their feeble-minded dolt legions for years now, and Trump is merely the most shameless and blatant of the lot. My guess is, he's going to be in the driver's seat of the clown car for a while yet.

Trump's "Make America Great Again" is of course meant to imply America suddenly lost its greatness the moment President Obama took the oath of office. Trump is, and always has been a birther. Why does it surprise anyone that Trump gave the nut a pass? It would be difficult for Trump to correct something that he himself believes.

Trump is the natural result of the tea party's and the neo con's misguided fury over a liberal black man in the oval office.

Dump Trump
America's Biggest Narcissist,
Demagogue, and Bigot...
Make America Great Again

Yup, it's only a matter of time and he will crash and burn.

Mike, the Trumpster sounds like Chance the Gardner every time he opens his mouth to say nothing, and his followers love it when he makes empty statements as long as he insults women, minorities, and the president. It's their manna, and it keeps them fat with hatred.

Agreed. As long as he keeps feeding his followers meaningless twaddle, they're happy. His response to the crazy guy in the NH audience is a perfect example of how vacuous he is. The TGOPers go for surface qualities that are onion-skin deep -- remember the half-wit, half-term governor of Alaska and how much they admired her? They've learned nothing since she impressed them.

RN, it is astounding to rational people that a political party would support a man who keeps quiet when the absolute lie that President Obama is not an American is claimed by one of his fans. The Trumpster was, is, and will always be a birther because he knows that's why the base admires him -- he keep the lie alive.

I read that one of his people will reveal, at some point, the "amazing" things his investigators found out about President Obama's birth certificate when they were in Hawaii.

Trump can sure play the easily duped for suckers, but good.

The baggers are gonna ride that trump horse all the way off the cliff.

Yup, it's only a matter of time and he will crash and burn.

The problem is that "crash and burn" in concrete terms would mean losing his front-runner status in the polls, which is another way of saying it would mean rank-and-file Republicans ceasing to support him. It's far from obvious that that's going to happen, soon or in the longer term. Trump's vulgarity, his bigotry (or at least willingness to exploit bigotry), and his lack of substance on policy have been on full display for some time now without costing him Republican support. It's hard to see how those things could become any more obvious than they already are.

Trump isn't the problem. Without mass Republican support he would be nothing. It's the Republican voting base that is the problem.

This is the logical end of the road the party set off along decades ago when it embraced people like Jerry Falwell and Southern segregationists fleeing the Democratic party in the wake of the Civil Rights Act. The drooling ignoramuses consumed with resentment and hate have now become such a big part of the base that they're setting the tone of the party. Trump isn't some media creation foisted on the party, he's the natural expression of what it has become.

Infidel753, Joe Seldner of the HuffPost speaks to your comment above:

"I had been inclined to hold Donald responsible for the incessant stream of elementary schoolyard personal insults, jutting chin arrogant responses to anyone who challenges him, and the other bile and gibberish he has gotten away with for the past three months, but now, well, it is time to blame his supporters.

If Barack Obama went around the country saying the American dream was dead, that the nation was in deep trouble, and that we are not great anymore, as Donald often does, Trump's fans would demand the President's (what they all seem to believe is his Muslim) hide. But when Donald rambles incoherently about how bad things have become in America, they cheer. Loudly.

Donald is given a free pass by his backers no matter what he does or says or doesn't say -- such as pretending not to hear a supporter's question about getting rid of Muslims. This is a candidate who could hear a compliment about him in a category 5 hurricane, but doesn't hear an offensive, hateful question shouted from a man a few yards away from him? Really?

Trump's ignorance and/or disinterest in matters of substance from immigration to foreign policy to childhood immunizations is by now so well documented that anyone willing to let him slide is likely as ignorant or disinterested as he.

I know some Trump backers personally, and have spoken with them enough to know that trying to pin them down about what they like about the guy is futile. They like his political incorrectness. They like his honesty. Huh? They don't admit it, but they like his anger and his repeated denigration of those already marginalized in society.

And what many of Trump's supporters say -- I have to be sitting down when I write this -- is they like that Trump is "one of us."

So a multi-billionaire who flies around the world in his own jet plane with his T&A centerfold wife is "one of us," says the base of the TGOP? Who knew there were so many thrice-married billionaires marching in protests with ungrammatical signs?

Materially, Trump is most certainly NOT "one of them." In his xenophobic, misogynistic, birther rhetoric, he's EXACTLY one of them.

58 percent of Republican debate-watchers support one of the three candidates in the race with no experience in elected office whatsoever.

These are the same people who hammered President Obama for his "thin resume" in elective office, and who believed Sarah Palin was more qualified than Obama because of her experience in the governor's office. Now they've changed their minds and decided people with NO experience in government are the best people to run a country of 300+ million people. What can we take away from that? Besides the obvious fact that they are attracted to personalities who tell them what they want to hear, and who have nothing to do with reality.

Les Carpenter said...

Shouldn't Trump's wife be off limits? She is not running and as far as I know has no interest in American politics. Besides a dude (or dudette) has a right to marry who they please and the question is should it be a part of the discussion? As far as I know she has .ade no public comment.

I should not have posted on her myself awhile back myself.

I think candidates' children should be off limits, but not wives, since the wife of the POTUS becomes the FLOTUS and is expected to take on some sort of initiative for the country. My criticism is mainly about the hypocrisy of the evangelical righties who slammed Mrs. Obama for every thing she said or did but seem not to mind the fact that Trump's 3rd wife posed semi-nude for all the world to see. I don't care that she did, but I find the double-standard on the right ridiculous. Presidents' wives are very much involved in presidential issues and politics. They normally campaign for their husbands, so for that reason I think they are fair game for criticism.

Jerry Critter said...

The republican treatment of Mrs. Michelle Obama makes republican wives fair game...specially the wives of husbands who have dissed her. It is time to stop cutting republican any slack.

Timothy Egan:

You can’t out-crazy Donald Trump. You can’t best him in half-truths that sound plausible just because you say them with forceful bluster. You can’t be scarier to Latinos than the man who threatens to round them up like stray cattle. And you can’t offend half the population more than the puffer-fish-faced plutocrat who dismisses less-attractive females as “fat pigs,” while bragging that he used to sleep with “the top women in the world.” ...
It’s a game of loser’s poker, to use Trump’s favorite put-down. And for a party that desperately needs to expand its appeal in a general election, exactly the wrong tack.

Shaw Kenawe said...

I agree, Jerry. The righties have been brutal in their attacks on Mrs. Obama, but the knuckle-dragging bottom-feeders, who refer to her as an ape, are the worst. Actually, what else would one expect from the Stupids in that party? Their ignorance and racism is epic. And the GOP welcomes them where they have found a comfortable home.

Les Carpenter said...

Posing semi nude is no issue for me. But the statement for the first time in my adult life I'm proud of America does.

When a woman becomes FLOTUS (or man becomes FMOTUS) I agree.

How the right wing racists have continually depicted Michelle Obama since becoming FLOTUS is disgraceful and hateful. It demonstrates the worst of America.

Les Carpenter said...

When have you cut republicans slack Jerry? :-)

PM Carpenter chimes in:

"For a strongman who tells it like it is, he [Trump] sure is a cowardly liar. That I can tell you. Believe me. Trump sidestepped Greenville because he had been broadsided. Word has it that he'll try to right himself and his ship of Mortimer Snerd fools at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition Forum today, but I fear the damage done to his blockbulkheads is too great."

Shaw Kenawe said...

But the statement for the first time in my adult life I'm proud of America does.

While the phrasing of that sentiment was inartful --especially for a certain segment of our population to hear -- I fully understand what she meant by it. You and I, RN, have absolutely zero idea of what it means to be a person of color in this country. The racists in this country have been disgustingly vicious ever since the Obamas moved into the WH. There was a lot of truth in what she said. Who are we to judge that statement, when neither you nor I are judged on our abilities or achievements because of the color of our skin. The Obamas' educational achievements have been suspect by the extremists, citing affirmative action as the only explanation for why they were accepted into America's most prestigious institutions of higher learning. Of course, they've never brought that slander up when speaking of the schools that, say, Dr. Carson or Condoleeza Rice attended, do they.

The Obamas are a model of what the evangelical right believes is central to a thriving country: Faithful loving, husband and wife raising respectful, intelligent children. They don't get credit from the extremists for what the extremists believe is the core value that makes this country great -- family. The Obamas are paragons of what the Christian right and most other Americans admire.

Like most Trump supporters, you, Anon, are living in a delusion:

Sixty percent of Americans don’t think Donald Trump is qualified to be president

"People were nine points more likely to say Clinton understands the problems of people like them (including a 15-point spread among independent voters) and were 17 points more likely to say Clinton has the temperament to be president. Only just over a third of registered voters think that applies to Trump.

PS. I don't "demonize" Trump. I report on my blog EXACTLY what the jackass says. He's the one who "demonizes" women and minorities and POWs. And he's the one who hasn't the cajones to say that President Obama is an American and a Christian, because he would lose support from birthers and other numbskulls who support him.

Les Carpenter said...

I am not an extremist and the extremists (on the right) hate me for it. Particularly when I call them on it. You know, being a fiscal conservative and basically a live and let live socially liberal libertarian (within the rule of law) makes me a man with no core beliefs in the eyes of the reactionary extreme right.

But as I see it blind partisanship from either party is a net negative and certainly clouds ones perception and therefore judgement.

Shaw Kenawe said...

You should welcome their hatred. That means you're intelligent, thoughtful, rational, and an independent thinker! They HATE that in anyone who doesn't march lock-step to their ideology.

If they approved of you that would mean you are just like them.

*shudder*

Jerry Critter said...

You know, RN, assuming that Ms Clinton will follow similar economic policies as Mr Clinton did, she is about as close to a fiscal conservative as you will get. After all, Mr Clinaton is the only president in decades to balance the budget.

Les Carpenter said...

Yes, with involvement and give and take with a significantly more reasonable republican group than we have today.

I'm am not convinced HRC is as moderate as her husband was. Nor do we know if she'll enjoy the 'art of the game' (if you know what I mean) as much as WJC did.

All that aside I do acknowledge that all the republican talk about balancing the budget and reducing the debt has been empty rhetoric.
