Of course, Moscow Mitch won't do anything about it until the 19th, at the earliest, but at least it'll be completed through the House and that's still a stain on his record. After the Senate returns to normal with the seating of the two new Georgia Democrats, even after King Clorox is out of office, he can still be impeached. Sure, it won't remove him from office but it, from what I understand, preclude him from ever holding public office again. That just might help break the lock he has on his deranged 'base'.

The impeachment proceeding are a ruse to show congress is doing something. The senate will not vote on impeachment until trump is out of office and according to the law once the president is impeached he must be removed from office. How can that happen after he is gone.
Why not have congress spend time getting something done about the joey agenda and bringing the country together instead of supporting nency's vendetta against trump for his teasing her about her false teeth. I do think biden wants to unite the country but he is alone in that wish among democrats.

By impeaching Trump, he will no longer be able to hold political office again, whether he’s convicted by the Senate or not. He would lose a lot of other privileges enjoyed bu ex-presidents as well.
Trump needs to be punished with by whatever legal means are available to Congress.
