TRUMP NEEDS TO BE CONVICTED FOR HIS CRIMES

BREAKING:  A prominent speaker at a “Stop the Steal” rally held by Trump supporters in Washington the day before the storming of the Capitol was taken into custody Monday on charges of impeding police during the riot.

Trump incited his armed mobs against his own vice president, and the mob screamed "Hang Mike Pence!"

Trump told his armed mobs that Mike Pence had the power to overturn the election results (he did not).

Trump's armed mobs went looking for Mike Pence to do him harm.

"The president of the United States, with the broad approval of GOP leaders, systematically attempted to invalidate millions of votes from disproportionately minority voters. When that effort failed, Trump invited a mob to Washington, whipped up its resentments, directed it toward Capitol Hill, urged it to intimidate legislators and disrupt a constitutional process, challenged it to “fight,” and then refused to intervene while domestic terrorists hunted for Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in the hallways of the Capitol." --Michael Gerson

No other President in history has ever tried to subvert the will of the people through insurrection, and the GOP is acting like he returned a library book late.

He needs to be, but WILL he be? Will he even be charged?

Anonymous @7:49 and Derv

One reason for convicting Trump is that Congress has to show that Trump's effort to overturn a fair election, fomenting violence and threats to members of Congress to do so, MUST have consequences for the instigator. Otherwise, the precedent will be established that an incumbent rejected at the polls can do just about anything to try and remain in office and not pay a price.

If a losing incumbent succeeds in illegally overturning the election result, he keeps control of the levers of power and avoids facing justice. If he fails, as Trump did, then Senate failure to convict just lets him walk away, as did every one of the prior losing presidents, all of whom did NOT try to hijack the election process.

Trump was a lawless POTUS and he needs to be accountable for his treachery.

I fixed that for you.

All of what is said above, including the post information is true. Absolutely. But, and it pains me greatly to say it, these republicans in power now, with rare exception are, equivalent to human excrement. Every damn programed republican senatoid that votes not to convict, thus allowing the corrupt, slimy, disgraced previos presnit to possibly do even greater damage to America in the future, can only be considered a clear and present danger to our republic and the democratic principles on which it stands.

Perusing some of the rightwing tRump sheeple cult sites has made me want to do nothing but vomit. Those, whatever you can call them, are not Americans in any real sense of the word. Anyone who refuses to hold a seditious and insurrectionist presnit to account for his treasonous actions DOES NOT DERSEVE TO LIVE IN AMERICA. Periois.

Michael Gerson... A former advisor to the Heritage Foundation, a longtime conservative think tank. A speechwriter to President George W Bush and Bob Dole. He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois, almost the birthplace of evangelical Christianity and the home of the Billy Graham Center.

In no sane world is Gerson a lib, libtard, socialist, commie, leftist or a man who hates America.

But... and this is where we are at today, many on the right see him as such. Simply because he believes politics has to be something better than Donald Trump, that it should never be a zero sum game. To many on the right, Gerson is a RINO.

And that is what is wrong with politics today. Our parties exist to win and demand loyalty. I worry how soon that tendency will come to the Democratic party.

I as well Dave. In all reality they already are showing signs of it IMO. However, the programmed tRump republicans and his party are at least 20 years into political and governing insanity. Its been on steriods 2017-2021.

"RINO's" were suspect in my mind 12 years ago. But today I applaud RINO's because in fact they are folks who know how to govern and are the TRUE republican patriots.

Back to the democrats. If the democrats ever evolve into anything even clase to Trumpism and the current republican party I will express as much disgust and disdain as I presently do towards the tRump republican party.

And BTW, I'll be blogging just as I do now if I'm still alive. Only it'll be hammering democrats. Truth, principles, honesty, integrity, and decency are important and must be stood up for.

Hmm, why couldn't the Biden Justice department charge the corrupt previous prenit with manslaughter, the direct result of his actively inciting the insurection on the Capitol on 1/6/21?

Because THAT (amongst other things) is EXACTLY what happened. If the bastard would have taken immediate action to tell his thugs, goons, and traitors to stand down and WHY they would have complied.

Dotard is responsible for these deaths indirectly. It seems manslaughter charges in the very least would be appropriate.

Just a thought (or maybe a dream) that ain't gonna happen.

There is a rummer circulating that President Biden is Accelerating a Move To Put Michele Obama's Picture On the $2 Bill

Suzanne, "rummer?"

What's a "rummer?" Is that someone who jogs while drunk on rum?

Your attempt at clever snark was an epic fail.

Smarter trolls, please.

The media is acting as if the vaccine production and distribution started with Joe… Where were they the past 6 to 10 MONTHS? Where were these questions the last two months after the vaccine came out? They were busy chasing Trump’s tweets and golf balls.

Is a "rummer" short for somebody who runs rum? If so ole Suzy Q needs remedial middle school. Maybe grade school as well.

You're right Shaw, you're aquired some really VERY dense trolls.

Shaw... Smarter trolls? This is the group that demonizes fact based education over what "they know to be true." Empirical knowledge and an ability to spell and understand language are not important to that crowd.

Typos are one thing... but read just a few posts from the trolls and sock puppets and you have to wonder how they ever got promoted to high school...

The new MENSA qualification is that any Republiclown with an IQ over 40 is considered a genius. Over 60 -- well, they'll cross that bridge if they ever have to. Not looking good, so far.
