A brief trip around the rabid right wing Trumper blogs shows them discussing how "crazy" and "dangerous" the Democrats are.

But those same  bloggers apparently either don't read about their own party leaders' anti-democracy legislation, or they approve of anti-free speech when the speech is offensive only to them.

Read these two reports below to understand who the folks who are intolerant and who want to impose "sharia-like" restrictions on women and their reproductive choices.

The current GQP is a party of proto-fascists who continue to support a former president who is under criminal investigation, was impeached twice, and who incited an attack on his own government and his own vice president.

You won't read any of this because those GQPers are hypocrites, liars, and anti-democracy Trump cultists:

TALLAHASSEE — In his continued push against the “indoctrination” of students, Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday signed legislation that will require public universities and colleges to survey students, faculty and staff about their beliefs and viewpoints to support “intellectual diversity.”

No details offered

The governor did not name specific state universities or colleges with this problem. He was broad in his accusations about the higher education system and used vague anecdotes to justify the need for such a survey.

For instance, the governor said he “knows a lot of parents” who are worried that their children will be “indoctrinated” when they go off to college, and that universities are promoting “orthodoxies.” But he did not offer specifics on those claims.

Crazy Republicans in MO are getting ready to have a special session to outlaw birth control. You seriously can’t make this stuff up. 10:42 AM · Jun 23, 2021·Twitter for iPad

Claire McCaskill @clairecmc · 1h This is the kind of extreme that happens when there is no balance in government. These men think they are politically invincible because Trump won our state, and their leader won the Governor’s race, both by a large margin. There will be a wake up call in the future.

The anti democracy, pro authoritarian, egregiously hypocritical, wildly anti reality, and wholly delusional republican party has finally jumped the shark.

The statement by clair is about as truthful as throwing grandma off a cliff in her wheelchair several years ago. Neither side is truthful.

Why are the rioters in DC capital being prosecuted and the rioters in Portland, Minn, Seattle, Chicago being given a free ride even though more people were killed in those cities than the DC riot.

Why does basement joe give a truly boring speech about gun violence and not condemning gangs as the majority of violators. Over 50 shot and 8 dead in Chicago and no mention that it was gang related. If a cop kills a criminal it is the cop's fault, if a gang member kills a gang member or an innocent person, it is the guns fault. Prosecute gun dealers for doing something illegal but let the lag member go. Somehow that seems like a broken system. Lets de-fund the police and take their guns away that way at least they won't kill another criminal. If you don't believe their is indoctrination in colleges you need to do some looking around other than in the sand.

Skud asked... "Why are the rioters in DC capital being prosecuted and the rioters in Portland, Minn, Seattle, Chicago being given a free ride even though more people were killed in those cities than the DC riot."

The rioters in DC are being prosecuted by the Federal Government because they are the law enforcement agency of the DC area and their leaders made a decision to do so.

The rioters in other areas would be prosecuted by state authorities. In PDX, dozens of people have been charged. In each of the locations you mentioned, arrests have been made and charges filed.

Just like the federal police and courts did in DC.

But in not a single one of those cases Skud was there a concerted effort to stop, with weapons, violence and mayhem, Congress from doing their constitutional duty.

In none of those cities did rioters breach a federal facility with the stated intent to kill federally elected officials, itself a federal crime.

You keep trying to show an equivalence between the two very different types of protests. It just doesn't work.

Shaw... I doubt the right wing extremists are also not hearing that the Dems are offering a standardized voter ID to exercise the right to vote.

The GOP turned it down.

They are not also hearing that the Dems offered voter roll purges, under a standardized system.

The GOP turned that down too.

One has to wonder why the GOP is so silent on these issues that they've been demanding for years.

Republicans are not serious folks. They are only interested in their nefarious agenda and we all know what that is. To destroy, for good, the basis and principles on whih our Democratic Republic was founded.

Skud... I've had a little more time to reflect on your question(s).

As it regards indoctrination, are you at all troubled by Florida passing a law that mandates the state to survey opinions of college students under penalty of loss of revenue? Does diversity of opinion, the governors stated goal, extend to make sure people are taught that the Florida election of 2020 was rife with corruption? Something even Governor DeSantis denies.

Does diversity of opinion include making sure southern students grow up learning, against all reason, evidence, fact and the founding documents of the Confederacy, that the Civil War was not about slavery, but a "southern way of life?"

As it regards the people being arrested for the events of 1/6, why does their arrest bother you? I've been hearing all over places like FOX News and reading at places like the HMS Mothership, that the protestors are ANTIFA, BLM, FBI anti America protestors.

Why would anyone who calls for those protestors in Seattle, Portland and other places object to them being arrested for their actions in Washington DC? Why would people who "know" the "tourist" visit to the capitol was a bunch of anti American ANTIFA types not want a Congressional Commission to investigate the riot and put an end to those leftists who were bussed into Washington DC to do this?

Those people aren't lying are they?

Green-Wyatt federal building, US courthouse, customs building and that is just PDX. Plus hundreds of independent retail businesses. In addition over 25 people have died as a result of the "peaceful protests". Now we have joey the wonder prez giving a speech blaming guns for all the killings. Make it illegal for gun dealers to sell guns illegally, already the law, make it illegal to sell guns to criminals, already illegal.

Don't hold gangs accountable for violence because they are just victims, don't support the police but do support the criminals. It was all I could do to stay awake for his speech because he was so monotone in his reading of it even he didn't support the speech he was instructed to read.

Now we have cruella going to El Paso to visit the border and act as though she cares. That is like going to Boston to look at crime in NYC. Why not go where the problem is which is McAllen TX, 800 miles from El Paso. I just hope she doesn't laugh when asked a serious question.

In Minneapolis, 142 were arrested between Friday when the riots started and Sunday. 13 of those have been federally charged with arson. (One person has already been sentenced to 6 1/2 years). Hardly sounds like a free ride to me. Just FYI, out of the 142 arrests, 21 were people from out of state and half of the rest arrested were not from the immediate Twin City area.

Way to address Dave's points skud. Not at all surprised.

Rev, It has nothing to do with arrests in DC but more about application of the law which is deemed to be one sided. If you destroy property or threaten people you should go to jail if it happens in DC or in PDX or anywhere else. It does appear that the federalists are enthusiastic about the prosecution in DC but lackluster in PDX/SEA/MSP and the rest. Maybe this has to do with the legal fund the VP formed to assist the rioters.

You make two assumptions about my thinking. The Civil was was about money and the fact that if they made slavery illegal it would cost the plantation owners. This is one of those cause and effect instances. If you visited a state university class room you would understand that liberal ideas are taught and conservative ideas are almost banned. Should students be polled on what to learn of course not. Everyone should be taught a difference of ideas but unfortunately that is not the case because now we have to teach to the lowest common denominator and make certain all matter taught is PC.

I think people need varied opinions in order to form theirs, that is the reason I am an independent.

Yesterday, Michigan Republicans added to the steadily growing list of states confirming there was NO widespread voter fraud.

Isn't it time for Republicans to suck it up and move on already?

THEY LOST.

1,000 arrests have been made in Portland. ONE THOUSAND.

What the hell is skudrunner whining about now???

The rioters in DC tried to overthrow the US government. What doesn't skudrinner understand about that? They were egged on by the country's treasonous president, DJT, to steal the election. What doesn't skudrunner undrrstand about that? A coup d'etat vs. hooligans in Portland. He thinks those things are equal?

JHC!

Anon and R.D.

This is how Trump has poisoned American democraccy. With the help of his weak-minded cultists:

"On Wednesday, a state Senate committee chaired by McBroom released the results of a seven-month-long investigation of Michigan’s election results, which included testimony from 90 witnesses. The report concluded there was “no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud” and warned of “those who have pushed demonstrably false theories for their own personal gain.”

Lindell, who touts his improbable journey from crack addict to wealthy pillow entrepreneur, emerged immediately after the election as a leading disseminator of false allegations about the vote. He funded a bus tour in November and December to spread his theories, appearing frequently on pro-Trump cable networks. In January, days before Biden’s inauguration, he was photographed entering the White House with a document that referred to “martial law if necessary.” Twitter has permanently suspended him for amplifying misinformation."

1000 arrests but how many were prosecuted. I'll give you the answer, A Handfull". How many days and nights have the PDX riots gone on. Didn't you know the DC protests were peaceful protests. That statement is about as true as the riots in dozens of American cities were peaceful protests.

Ms. Shaw, It is a well established fact that Trump lost. Granted there are those who believe he won but there are also those who believe a community organizer can be a good leader, both of those assumptions are incorrect.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw... but as you know, many conservatives are on record as saying no matter what evidence ppl produce, they will "never" believe the election was not stolen.

Never!

How do we counter that?

Skud... again, as you can see, your claims that rioters in other cities have gotten a free ride and not faced incarceration, has been shown by many here to be baseless. Nothing more than a false talking point.

Today a Reagan appointed judge gave one 1/6 protestor probation, which the US Justice Dept is offering to most non violent ppl who basically just entered the capitol buildings, even though they are admitting to doing so with the intent to disrupt the legal, constitutional functions of the US Government.

I have to admit, it is interesting that a patriot such as yourself chooses to, at best, mischaracterize what is happening in those other cities as a way to somehow excuse an attempt to violently overthrow the US Gov.
