THIS IS A WIN FOR AMERICA

I've brought this post here from last week, because more comments were added to it today.

Hmm, we'll need to wait before we delight and celebrate. It may very well effectively have NO impact. If, and it may very well be when - 2022, republicans take control of both legislativce branches of our goverment. If the fumbling demns do not get it done before November 2022 and the rtRump party wins it will be game over, facists win, democracy left limping and badly bleeding...

Dave Miller said...

RN... you are right, we should wait before popping corks.

But as of now, the 1/6 Committee is in fact, already receiving those documents. I think America will be seeing those docs someday soon.

And look, Trump does not seem to care about the Constitutional reasons connected to keeping those docs private. There's got to be stuff there, of which he is aware, that is gonna look bad for him.

So while I am not popping the cork, the bubbly is at least chilling.

Trump lost an 8-1 decision at the SCOTUS. Just let that sink in. He's gotta be asking himself what good the SCOTUS is if he appoints judges and they don't support him.

This indeed is a win for America.

I'm getting impatient. Let's get this thing going already. The charges, trial, convictions, asset seizures and sentencing to many years for all the members of the Dotard family and criminal associates.

WOKE women make me want to puke. They are ignorant and ridiculous and not at all what the "Womens Movement" was about. They are a literal joke. They are not educated. God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve or Jennifer and Jane. Those people need to read the Bible and they all should be kicked in the bum and kicked out!

Derv,

I think all reasonable people feel the same way.

Just remember these words from MLK: "I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways; I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice."

Not everyone believes in the god you mentioned. I understood that the Christian god accepted and loved all of his creations, including those who love differently than you. (By your words, I'm not sure "love" is something you even practice.)

Homosexuality has been with humankind since we first fell out of the trees. It's only religion that has made humans hate each other for it.

You sound like a very angry person. I'm sorry for your unhappiness.

For the sake of the democrat party we need to keep the 1/6 trial going at least until the election. They need to have something to divert attention from the massive failures of their leader. I read that they are censuring Sinema because she is not in lock step with the party and can think for herself. The inclusive party is showing their true colors by only include those who follow orders.

Shaw Kenawe said...

A majority of Americans want to know who was involved in what happened on J6, and who financed it. Since it was an attack on America and the Capitol by Trumpers and far right wingers, skudrunner apparently believes we shouldn't pursue the investigations -- unlike the investigations into what happened in BENGHAZI! that he supported.

Hey skud, did you read that the GQP censured Liz Cheney? Because she is NOT in lockstep with the party? I don't remember you coming here and telling us that the GQP did it because she can think for herself. But you do this all the time: Look for a splinter in the eye of those you dislike and ignore the log in the eyes of the people you support.

"The inclusive party is showing their true colors by only include those who follow orders"

That is such a ridiculous statement, considering that Manchin and Sinema exist within the Democratic Party, and the GQP is slowly getting rid of all moderate Republicans and those who don't kiss Trump's large posterior.

Do better with you complaints next time. The ones you posted are self-owning.

Oh my! Obscurations, attachments, and delusions. Just my view but Betsy and skud seem seriousy beset with all three. But, the same can be said about a lot us humans.

The rancid smell of otherism runs deep as well. If the entire adult USA went blind and their memories, conditioned by years of misperceptions, delusions, and obscurations, were suddenly erased and their eyes reopened they likely would see things differently. Without the prior societal conditioning with its myriad layers of crap reality would look much different than it does now.

Ms Shaw, Yes the republicans censured Liz Cheney because she stood up for her beliefs but I have yet to see one republican or democrat who have been gotten rid of just censured for what good that will do. I think it will increase campaign contributions from the other side. It is good to see some individuals do what they think is best, after all that is the supposed reason people elect them. To many politicians, the majority, think as they are told by their party not by the wishes of their constituents. It does appear that manchin and sinema cannot be bribed into lock step like nelson was with obamacare. Good to see we have a few politicians doing what they were elected to do not just what they are told.

Over the last five years Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema has received contributions from more than 50 billionaire supporters, all but one of whom hail from outside of her home state of Arizona.

Arizona Democrats Have Turned on Kyrsten Sinema

Sinema's constituents are angry with her for ignoring what they supported. She's been supporting her big donors and ignoring the people who sent her to the Senate and what they sent her there to do.

Just 8 percent of her party’s voters view the senator favorably.

It appears Sinema's $$$ backers are getting their money's worth from her. Her constituents? No so much. They supported President Biden's policies not her donors'.

Your comment is wrong.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Where on Earth did you get the false idea that Manchin was doing what his constituents wanted? You're wrong.

Manchin is sucking up to his billionaire corporate donors. Just like the worst of the people in Congress!

Where did you come up with the idea that he and Sinema were not corporate lackeys???

VOTERS IN WEST VIRGINIA SUPPORT THE "BUILD BACK BETTER" AGENDA:

Corporate donations to Sen. Joe Manchin’s PAC surged as he fought President Biden’s agenda

Sen. Joe Manchin’s PAC saw a surge in corporate contributions last fall before his decision to oppose President Biden’s $1.75 trillion social and climate legislation.

The political action committee received 17 contributions in October and 19 in November, according to a CNBC analysis of Federal Election Commission filings.

Corporations, business leaders and groups have pressured Manchin to oppose the agenda since the Democrats gained a slight majority in the Senate.

Just look at all the energy corporations that have been donating to Manchin.

In West Virginia, close to half of self-identifying Republicans support the American Rescue Plan (43percent) and the American Jobs Plan (45 percent).

In addition, over a third of Republicans (43 percent)support the American Families Plan — and some of the individual provisions of the American Families Plan enjoy either majority or plurality support from Republican voters.

As ppl respond, let's not lose sight that this post was about the recent SCOTUS ruling that Fmr Pres Trump not only did not have a right to claim Exec Privilege for his Jan 6 communications, but that he would have lost the case had he still been president.

This is a major defeat for Trump and clearly the documents already coming out, for example, a plan to use the military to seize voting machines, show he was temperamentally unfot for the office of POTUS.

As bad as he was in office, America dodged a bullet and now we can sit back and await the public hearings later this year.

skudrunner said...

Rev, Guess that proves that SCOTUS acts in a non partisan way when it counts.

As to Ms. Shaw,s comments about AZ and WVA voters and their support of joey. He is about as popular as -H- saying she would destroy the coal industry and the jobs to go with it. Most people will respond to a question about getting something for free (AFP) until they find out what it is all about. Are you asked to participate in a poll on a regular basis, yea me neither. Answers are in direct relation to who and what is asked.

How many times in Congressional history has an elected member of Congress supported and voted for something his constituents did not?
By the way, every elected official in Congress is a corporate lackey.

Anonymous@8something said...

Of course most elected official are corporate lackeys. They likely would not been elected unless they played ball with the mavens of wealth abd greed.

Shaw Kenawe said...

N.N.N.,

My comment on Manchin and Sinema ignoring their constituents was to point out to skudrunner that he was wrong in his claim that they "cannot be bribed into lock step" and they "can think for themselves." The evidence shows just the opposite.

Also, I doubt that "every elected official in Congress is a corporate lackey." But the fact that corporations have to contribute to Congressional candidates and legislators in order to achieve and/or stay in office is baked into the system is scandalous and has delivered a system where many senators and representatives are beholden to them and not their constituents.

Americans keep sending their senators and representatives back to Congress where those lawmakers are responsible for CHANGING THE LAWS. So far, I've seen no one (with the exception of one of my US Senators -- Sen. Warren) who wants to limit corporations' and PACs' influence in elections.

"Corporations are people, my friend." -- Sen. Mitt Romney

And there you have it.

skudrunner said...

There was a past president who was going to limit the influence of corporate lobbying groups. He now lives in a 15 million dollar house courtesy of corporate lobbying groups so apparently his plan went sideways and like all the rest he sold out.

We have the best representatives money can buy. You can see how much support lizzy is getting from he fellow hacks.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Who is the president you refer to in your comment?

possumlady said...

If Skud is referring to Obama, I'd like him to name those corporate lobbying groups. I, on the other hand have found this documenting just how the Obama's created their wealth:
2004: He earned a salary of $80,287 from the Illinois Senate and $32,144 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he lectured. Obama also had investments in three different assets — including the Vanguard Wellington Fund — evaluated between $100,000 and $200,000.

2005: Obama received a multi-book deal with Random House and was given a $1.9 million advance after January 2005 for “The Audacity of Hope,” plus royalties, following his appearance at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He also earned just over $847,000 that year from another book advance for “Dreams From My Father,” plus $378,237 from additional book royalties.

2006: Obama reported book royalties for “Dreams From My Father” of a little less than $150,000, plus $425,000 from royalties for “The Audacity of Hope.”
2007: Obama earned almost $3.3 million from Random House book royalties and almost $816,000 from Dystel & Goderich for “Dreams From My Father.” He acquired U.S. Treasury notes valued between $500,000 and $1 million, and he invested in two 529 college savings plans — valued at between $50,000 and $100,000 each to start — for his daughters.
2008: When Obama was elected president, he owned somewhere between $1.1 million and $5.1 million in U.S. Treasury bills.

2009: Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, which came with a $1.4 million award. He donated it to a number of different charities.

2009-2015: Obama earned $400,000 a year as president and continued to earn book royalties, as well as interest on his investments.

2016-2017: Newsweek reported that Obama’s annual pension after leaving the White House is more than $200,000. He has also received fees as large as $400,000 for public speaking events. The Obamas also signed a book deal together with Penguin Random House reportedly worth more than $65 million for two books — one written by each member of the power couple.

2018: The Obamas founded Higher Ground Productions and signed a production deal with Netflix, according to CNBC.

2020: Barack Obama released his latest book, “A Promised Land.” The book is part of an unprecedented $65 million deal that also included Michelle Obama’s memoir.

So you can see the vast wealth was by far created by his and Michelle's books. Now compare that to Trump---but wait, you can't compare that to Trump since Trump won't release any financial information!!

Shaw Kenawe said...

Possumlady, I was ready to post that info after skud answered me (because I was pretty sure he was trashing President Obama's wealth). But thank you for doing it for me!

Yes, President Obama got wealthy the old-fashioned way -- He earned it!

But we'll never hear our friend skud talk about how Trumpy got his start in life -- his father gave him millions to start a business. And Trump turned those millions into bankruptcies and scams to hurt the little people. LOL!

I don't understand skud's obsession with President Obama, a decent, honest man who had zero financial breaks in his early life that got him to where he is now. I hope he and Michelle (who grew up in a one bedroom apartment shared by her parents and her brother! -- she and her brother slept in the living room with a curtain set up between them for privacy!) I hope she's enjoying the wealth she and Barack earned. They truly are living the American dream -- a dream skudrunner seems to think they don't deserve.

Why a quite effective, on balance, Presdent Obama failed to gut the corrupt greed driven lobbying system of the consumerism driven USA is, ready for it? BECAUSE if he did not "play ball to some level he would have likely accomplished nothing.

Some folks simply prefer to stay frozen in the reality of their own making. I know this because it was once me. For far too long.

Everything arises, manifests, and dissolves. Impermanence is inevitable. Accepting change or truth is impossible when one is frozen in their story telling.
