"President Trump’s job approval rating has fallen steadily during his first three months in office, according to a New York Times average of polling.
Mr. Trump’s approval rating has sunk to about 45 percent, down from 52 percent one week after he took office. Around half of the country now disapproves of his performance, the polling shows.
American presidents typically enter office with a groundswell of support that wanes over time. But Mr. Trump’s approval has been dropping slightly faster than that of his predecessors.
Mr. Trump started his term with the second-lowest approval rating for a president in modern history. The only recent president to have started in a worse position was Mr. Trump the first time he took office."
AND THIS:
President Trump receives his best marks on border security, as a 55% majority approves. That’s the only issue where his ratings are in positive territory.
On immigration, a record high of 47% approve of Trump (48% disapprove), while a new low of 38% approve on the economy (56% disapprove).
His worst ratings are on inflation (33% approve, 59% disapprove), followed by tariffs (33-58%), foreign policy (40-54%), taxes (38-53%), and guns (41-44%)."

If he keeps this up he will have lower poll numbers than biden at the end of his reign. It does look like he is now focused on attacking the courts and has moved passed throwing out illegals and correcting the wonderful economy he was left. Will be interesting to see what he has in his sights next.
Skud wrote that Trump "has moved passed [sic] correcting the wonderful economy he was left."
Skud, you frequently moan about how bad the economy was when Trump came into office. Can you cite the data from which you draw your conclusions? Because all I can find, from government, private and even right leaning media sites is support for my view that the economy did pretty well in 2024.
Everything I've read from all those sources said Trump was gifted a humming economy, the envy of the world and one that was primed for the hoped for "soft landing" after the Covid-19 shutdown and recession.
What metrics did Trump need to correct? Please give us some specific, data driven examples.
If you can find them.
It may be is more interested in revenge than competent government?
Skud wrote "correcting the wonderful economy he was left" which was meant to be sarcastic but it wasn't. The correction has been totally negative.
Dave and Mike, I said wonderful economy he was left so I acknowledge that after biden trashed the economy, job market, rising prices, shortages of everything it all started coming back. Take a bow because joey b did a fantastic job. After all our economy was the envy of the world so you have stated.
skud: "After all our economy was the envy of the world so you have stated."
NOT as just Dave or Mike stated, skud, but as economists stated. FACT.
I've finally figured out that anything positive a Democrat does is kryptonite to you. There is no argument over how well Biden resuscitated the dying economy that Trump left him in 2020.
You continue to ignore and/or ridicule that fact, and that shows me that your dislike for and discomfort with ANYTHING successful and good any Democratic or Democratic president does is unreasonable and wrong, and dare I say, somewhat pathological.
From your constant denigration of President Obama (calling him "the swell guy,") to any Democratic pol -- AOC is clueless in your opinion; VP Harris was unqualified for the presidency; etc., to willfully not giving credit to former President Joe Biden for the good economy he left Trump, it's plain to see that you're not being reasonable; you're being stubborn in the face of factual evidence.
Again, you claim that Biden "trashed" the economy and offered not a whit of evidence to prove it, as is usual with you. So, please try using this, "IMO" or "IMHO" when you leave untrue statements here. At least then I'll know I'm dealing with your OPINION and not anything factual. Thank you.
Ms. Shaw, I am more than delighted to give democrats credit for the good things they do. I complimented AOC for speaking out against the madam and her stock swindles. I think BJ did a good job of running the country to include everyone and he was popular, even I voted for him. I do have issues with barry because he was a special interest president and I was not part of his special interest group. Biden was AWOL and that has been proven by many people and a lot of them leftists. He took over at a time the country was in crisis and all he could do was shut down energy, close schools, increase regulations on everything, spend billions promoting battery vehicles, giving billions to schools not to improve education but to teach transgender studies. Look at how test scores have done over the last four years. No, him I have nothing good to say about expect he had nothing to do with any of it because he was only a seat sitter.
I'll note Skud that you provided no data, links or otherwise, any evidence to support your opinion.
Instead, you came back with a juvenile, uninformed, fact free response.
You really should sail on the Mothership. You're their kind of scalawag. You hate facts that don't support your views, can't offer up any data and just believe stuff to be true for no other reason except... because.
Most of us here would be more than willing to change our minds, or viewpoints if you just brought something other that "false facts" or "alternative facts."
But you can't.
Shaw... Skud will have to say IMO or IMHO on every comment if we're expecting evidence. Like others on the MAGA train, facts and nuance are not his strong suits.
Skud, if you’re referring to former speaker Pelosi, what stock SWINDLES was she involved in? The definition of swindle, the noun, is “ a fraudulent scheme or action.” Ms. Pelosi, to my knowledge has never been indicted for fraud. ( unlike Trump who was actually indicted & found guilty of fraud) So what are you referring to?
skud, you refer to President Obama as being a "special interest" president without explaining what that means. What do you mean?
You claim it was Joe Biden who closed down schools, but you're incorrect:
"The coronavirus created mass disruption of schooling in the spring semester of the 2019-20 school year. Acting to try to stop the virus’ spread, principals, superintendents, and then governors closed schools across the nation in a wave that began in late February. Eventually, 48 states, four U.S. territories, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity ordered or recommended school building closures for the rest of their academic year, affecting at least 50.8 million public school students.
The magnitude and speed of the closures was unprecedented."
What on earth do you mean when you claim President Biden "shut down energy?"
You're also wrong when you claim this: "...giving billions to schools not to improve education but to teach transgender studies."
You half hear stuff and then come here and post incorrect information. This is what that program was about, and the $$$ appropriation was $700K NOT BILLIONS.
Again you're using hyperbole when you criticize Biden's presidency. But you have nothing to say about how the Heritage Foundation and its Project 2025 is driving what DOGE did and is doing to the government, and even the newest proposal by Trump's team that a $5,000 bonus be offered so that women will produce more babies -- that's P2025, as is almost everything that Trump is doing. He isn't smart enough to be on top of all that is going on. He's being told what to do. But you have nothing to say when it's a Republican president who's a seat-warmer.
I do apologize for not providing evidence that biden had an unemployment of 13.8%. Inflation 9.1%, Closed down the XL pipeline " On President Biden's first day in office, he shut down the Keystone XL pipeline and eliminated 11,000 good paying American jobs", " President Joe Biden has exercised his executive authority to withdraw more than 625 million acres of federal waters from future oil and gas leasing", "The Biden administration has spent more than $128 million in taxpayer dollars on hundreds of grants aimed at promoting DEI", "AOC Calls For End Of Individual Stock Trading By Members Of Congress", "The Biden administration announced Monday $1 billion in funding for more than 2,700 electric and low-emission school buses across 37 states."
IMO I thought you kept up with the news but I guess it is only part of the news.
skud: "I do apologize for not providing evidence that biden had an unemployment of 13.8%. Inflation 9.1%,"
That 13.8% is wildly incorrect. That's what it was under Trump.
The unemployment rate during Joe Biden’s presidency has changed from 6.4% to 4.1%, a decrease of 35.9% as of September 2024.
During Donald Trump’s presidency, unemployment went up from 4.7% to 6.4%, an increase of 36.2% during his four years in office.
Joe Biden, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Harry S. Truman tie for the lowest average unemployment rate, with averages of 4.2% during all three of their tenures.
The highest unemployment rate on record was 14.8% during Donald Trump’s presidency and at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020.

The Keystone Pipline is a complicated issue that you reduced to more incorrect information:
The industry falsely claimed that the pipeline would be a big source of jobs.
When TC Energy said the pipeline would create nearly 119,000 jobs, a State Department report instead concluded the project would require fewer than 2,000 two-year construction jobs and that the number of full-time, permanent jobs would hover around 35 after construction.
"President Trump and the Keystone XL pipeline
When the Obama administration refused to grant the cross-border permit necessary to build TC Energy’s Keystone XL oil pipeline in November 2015, it struck a blow against polluting powers and acknowledged the consensus on this misguided project from a wide swath of communities, experts, and organizations. The decision echoed a seven-year State Department review process with EPA input that concluded the pipeline would fail to serve national interests.
Upon entering office for his first term, President Trump—with his pro-polluter cabinet of fossil fuel advocates, billionaires, and bankers—quickly demonstrated that his priorities differed. On his fourth day in office, Trump signed an executive order to allow Keystone XL to move forward. On March 28, 2017, his State Department illegally approved a cross-border permit for the pipeline, reversing the Obama administration’s prior determination that KXL would not serve the national interest. When that failed—thanks to a lawsuit brought by NRDC and other groups—Trump reissued the cross-border permit himself. “We would score a victory, and it would have huge ramifications for holding off construction at critical times,” says NRDC attorney Cecilia Segal, who has worked on KXL litigation since 2017. “But then the Trump administration would do something to undercut us outside of court.” The administration also attempted to issue other permits for the project, all based on flawed environmental analyses, eventually prompting more lawsuits, including two from NRDC and its allies.
Opposition outside the courts was swift and strong as well. Farmers, ranchers, tribes, and conservation groups helped keep the project stalled for Trump’s full four years in office, despite his best efforts to expedite its approval.
In 2025, President Trump appeared to be giving the zombie project yet another shot at being built. However, given the fact that “virtually all of the permits along the way have expired,” as Swift told Bloomberg News, “it would be starting from ground one to resuscitate the project.”
skud, when you say "I do have issues with barry because he was a special interest president and I was not part of his special interest group." what do you mean, special interest group?
I know Shaw has stated that you aren't racist and I respect her and her blog rules but seriously you skate up to the line and blow ice covering it with every comment you make about "special interest groups". My dead dog heard your dog whistle is what I'm saying.
Ms. Shaw, The XL pipeline was closed for political not environmental reasons. Biden said he was not for the green new deal until he was which took him less than a week to switch. As with any building project it takes a lot of labor to build and much less to run.
I do stand corrected on the unemployment rate but I believe, or better yet IMO, the highest rate was at the beginning of the china imported virus.
Grey, Of course you would think I was a racist for not liking the policies and opinions from barry. If I didn't like the fact he confiscated the health care system I am a racist, if he said small business was built by the government not an individual of course that makes me a racist. Does being against what President Jill did make me a racist against blonds as well. IMO That is a truly ridiculous argument that the left has pulled for a decade and for many years people would not share an opinion because they were then tagged.
Your smart and you can do better
There is an undercurrent to skud's replies on this thread, as if a tiny thought is digging into their brain telling them that the sources they trust might be lying. Of course now that I've pointed it out they will double down on their trusted source but I know that tiny thought. It's what allowed me to escape the cult back in the day.
skud, honestly, you are going to go through some things. No one really can help because once you figure out those you trusted a very long time have lied to you since before time was time.... Yeah. I recommend mental health assistance. I had my true love who helped me make the final escape and it is my hope you have as solid a person in your corner when the time comes.
Facts are facts. Some days I wish that wasn't so but reality is what it is. Good luck skud. I look forward to knowing you once you figure out while not the best people on the planet the Democratic Party aren't the bad guys here/now.
Also an option is skud diving back into their hole of misinformation and propaganda. Obviously (I hope to all of us here who care for skud) that would be a tragedy.
Facts are facts. Opinions we all have and can banter about like puppies with the best of them. anyway - long day in front of me and here I am getting all maudlin on a post. Hope your weekend is all you need it to be.
The Keystone Pipeline will bring us Canadian oil with a huge Trump tarriff.
Neato!
OT but certainly germane methinks.
Explaining Trump and his administration.
