So this is where we are now: 

 Trump trashed and threatened a Purple Heart recipient, LTC Vindman, who honorably served his country, for answering a subpoena and telling the truth under oath. Now we have the Liar-in-Chief interceding in a criminal trial for a slimey political dirty trickster, Roger Stone, a swinger and political goon who's done Trump's own dirty work for him. 

This is what happens when a minority of Americans elects a liar, cheat, and a fraud. 

 Expect nothing honorable from Trump or his corrupt AG. They are profaning our democratic republic inch by inch. The only people America sends to prison for too long are those who have no money and no connection. Roger Stone has both. 

 Roger Stone and Trump are vengeful people, and Barr is Trump's lapdog. Believe nothing Barr says. They all got caught cooking up a deplorable scheme because four honorable federal prosecutors quit their jobs at the DOJ in protest of the interference by Trump and his lackey AG, Barr. 

Thank goodness for Judge Jackson. Even she was threatened by Roger Stone, while Trump tweet- threatened the jury's foreperson. 

 There is an awful lot of fear in this country right now. Republicans quake in their boots for fear of what this snake of a president will say about them, so they turn a blind eye to all of his illegal behavior. Career civil servants, seeing what happened to LTC Vindman -- and there may be more yet to come for that honorable man -- are terrified of speaking out. Everyone, down to career prosecutors and even National Archives staff, are self censoring to avoid any potential confrontation with Trump. 

The worst part is there is no one to turn to for protection anymore. We have no DoJ, because it is in on the con game, and protecting the mob boss in the Oval Office People wonder how democratic countries can slip into authoritarianism. 

 We are seeing the answer to that in real time.

Trump and Barr Attack the U.S. Constitution.

I can't begin to sort out my feelings about this blatant abuse of power once again by Trump and his rogue AG, Barr. I have to ask the Trumpers who come here on a daily basis and read my blog this question:

Would you support this if a Democratic president asked the Attorney General of the U.S. to interfere in the sentencing of one of his pals who broke the law? 

I think I know the answer.

On Trump's Friday Night Massacre

A sobering fact:

The 48 senators who voted to convict represent 18 million more Americans than the other 52. The real problem is that we are a minority-ruled country now. It is not sustainable.

So now Trump is using his bully pulpit to lie again about his "acquittal," at one point demanding that Congress "expunge" his record of impeachment. Again, this is what a tyrant demands when he believes he's gotten away with his crimes. But Trump is impeached forever, and acquittal does not mean "innocent." (See Simpson, O.J.)

But the drama of the past week --when feckless Republican senators laughingly claimed they believed Trump had "learned a lesson" and would not dare to cheat to win again -- that drama has now warped into a vengeful massacre. Trump fired Lt.Co. Vindman and his brother and EU Ambassador Sondland for telling the truth, under oath, during the impeachment inquiry hearings.

No one's surprised. Trump, America's LIAR-IN-CHIEF, would, of course, purge any truth-tellers or subordinates who do not kiss his ass and tell him what he wants to hear, what he believes a monarch is entitled to.

Let's examine how Trump's treated other military men, besides Lt.Col Lindman and his brother, who've honorably served America:

Trump started his campaign by mocking John McCain's  service to his country; he called Gen. John Allen “A failed general;” he attacked the family of Capt. Khan,; he forgot Sgt. La David Johnson's name in his condolence call; he called 4-star General James "Mad Dog" Mattis, " the world's most overrated general'" he called General  McCrystal a "dog,"  with a "big, dumb mouth;" and just this past week, publicly humiliated Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman for obeying the law and telling the truth, under oath, in his subpoened testimony in front of the Congressional impeachment inquiry.

What these military men all have in common is that they all served their country with distinction and honor, and Trump knows he got some fake doctor to lie about "bone spurs," so he wouldn't wet his pants in terror if he were called to serve in Vietnam.

Trump is basically a weak little coward who has been given the levers of power. Weak little men who are put in that position use it to humiliate their betters because they can't live with the knowledge that they will never be as brave, as honorable, and as loved as those he humiliates. It's Trump's only way to live with what Nature denied him: Basic human decency.

Trump will never be called an "honorable, decent man." He has shown America and the world that he cannot rise above petty jealousies, grievances, and the desire to exact revenge on people who tell the truth about him and his crimes.

Trump's basic personality: He's an insecure, weak, jealous, incompetent, failed human being. And the people who continue to support him bear the responsibility for what he's doing to our democratic republic.

Pathetic: Trump wears make-up hoping the orange crap he smears all over his repulsive face will hide the broken, insecure coward that dwells inside.

HINT: It doesn't. The world sees him for what he is. Just look at him in this photo. It's a PERFECT photo of what he is: FAKE, FAILED MAN.

The mob boss in the White House fired Lt.Col. Vindman and his brother today in retribution for doing his duty and telling the truth.

In the old days, when the GOP wasn’t being headed by a weak little worm like trump, the Republican Party honored the military and the men and women who did their duty. Now, that same political party supports a vengeful little man who pardons military  murderers and fires military heroes.

Lt.Col. Lineman said in his testimony that here in America, “right matters.”   Well it did once.  But not anymore. The only thing that matters  to the GOP and the tyrant disgracing the Oval Office is breaking the law and turning America into a “s#ithole”

Trump is NOT my president.

I have no allegiance to the tyrant Trump. I will never attach "president" to his name. An American president functions within the law, not above it. And an American president seeks to represent all Americans, not just his supporters.

Has trump ever visited a blue state other than for inspecting a disaster, as he did in California or visiting one of his own properties?  

Trump's unending rallies in safe, red states prove he is not a "POTUS." of all Americans, but rather a cult leader of only his red supporters. (And as he's done all his life, he stiffs the red states and cities where he holds those rallies.) Trump's a coward. He's afraid of hearing what a majority of Americans thinks of him.

No other president in my lifetime has ever behaved this odiously toward his fellow Americans -- those fellow Democratic/liberal/independent Americans whose taxes pay for him and his parasitic family to travel, eat, and enjoy the perks of being part of a presidential administration.

What's left of the GOP is ready to cover-up Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors in order to allow their cult leader to go forward and lie, cheat, and commit more fraud, for surely a man like Trump, with no allegiance to anyone or anything but himself, and his grifting children, will continue his crime sprees, including inviting foreign countries to disrupt and interfere with our American elections to keep him in power. He did that in 2016; and in extorting Ukraine's president, did it again in 2019. 

Trump's perfidy knows no bounds, now thanks to the spineless, anti-American GOP lackeys in the Senate, he's emboldened to bring more dishonor and treachery upon what was once our democratic republic.

The tyrant Trump and his sycophantic courtiers in the GOP do not deserve any American's loyalty or respect.

I have no allegiance to Trump or to any other politician who puts party above America.

Trump just called the result of his impeachment "total acquittal." But if he had faced an actual criminal jury, as regular defendants would face, a vote of 52-48 would not be called an "acquittal." It would be called a hung jury, and the government could try the case again.

Think about this:  Rush Limbaugh, a hate-radio jockey who never did a thing for America except spread lies and misinformation, mocked and insulted people who suffered from illnesses; called a president's 13 year old daughter a dog, called a woman a slut, and insulted African-Americans, in addition to other indecent and hateful things. The House Democrats Give Closing Arguments in the Impeachment Trial of D.J.Trump

Trump will be acquitted by the political party that's become as corrupt and disgraceful as he is.

Trump will be acquitted but not exonerated. He and the GOP suppressed vital evidence and would not allow witnesses.

No impeachment trial in the history of the U.S. ever suppressed witnesses and evidence.

It couldn't be any clearer why Trump and the GOP have done this. The witnesses and evidence would corroborate  and prove Trump's guilt. Period.

No innocent person in the history of jurisprudence would prevent a witness or a piece of evidence to be introduced in that person's trial that could exonerate him or her.

Trump is guilty no matter what the corrupt Republican Senators do. All Americans know this.

With the Mitch McConnell led Senate, which has completely abdicated it's moral, legal, and democratic responsibilities, I fear we have only begun to see how Trump will get in bed with other like minded autocrats around the world. 

 How can checks and balances mean so little to the Republicans in the Senate? They have lost all pretense of caring about our country. How can we have confidence that the 2020 election will be fair? How much more damage will Trump do, and for what? 

 This exercise of power by the Republicans in the Senate - for what? What lofty purpose, what mission, what vision are they serving?


Since the 50s, as the older generation of conservatives die off, and each generation is replaced by one more progressive than the last, Republicans have been watching their base slowly crumble away. 

At some point during the Bush era, this became strikingly clear, and in response, the Republican Party has engaged in everything from gerrymandering, to voter suppression, to denying appointments to the Supreme Court, to colluding with foreign governments -- anything to stay in power. 

If they play fair, the GOP can’t win enough elections to continue to hold power at any level of government, and they know it. If Trump were convicted in the Senate and removed from office, it would take the party a bare minimum of 8-12 years to recover. By then the political landscape will be so different that it might be impossible for them to ever mobilize again as effectively as they are now.   

The Republicans cannot win anymore, so they lie, cheat, and steal.
