Antarctica is only a theory.(/teabaggerism)

Sagan always had a gift for deftly expressing such contrasts. Back when religion was dominant in the West, such debates were normally settled by torture and burning at the stake; where it is still dominant today, the preferred debate tactic seems to be suicide bombs.

The extremist conservatives are on the wrong side of most everything, and global climate change is only the most egregious:

From Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish:

"I have to say that one of the most depressing features of the decline of conservative thinking in the US has been the resistance to the overwhelming data behind carbon and climate change. I don’t get it, however much I try. Check out Jon Chait’s takedown of George Will’s and Charles Krauthammer’s “arguments” on the subject. It’s deeply dispiriting. And it helps explain why the GOP is such an extreme outlier among right-of-center parties in the Western world on this issue."

pppfffft....science is over rated.

I think it is a plot perpetrated by Lesbian Girl Scouts to turn God Fearing Conservatives into socialistic, Commie Vegatarians.

A real scientist would invite those to show their hypothesis wrong if possible, that's how they learn and create factual new conclusions.
It's like an old "B" sci-fi flick, no one listens to the scientist until after the disaster, then of course, they expect the scientists to fix the problem.

Instead of wasting hard-earned research money on how an octopus avoids entanglements of logic and locomotion, perhaps the money would be better spent learning how humanoids get all twisted and bent out of shape.

but but but....if it was a million dollar grant, see, how whould you spend the other $999,145? Maybe a little could be spent on researching how Sarah Palin gets her panties all twisted and her facts bent out of shape.

okjimm,
I prefer to avoid the subject of getting into Sarah Palin's twisted panties. Besides, I can see Cuba from here, and I'd rather have a good Flan compared to an Eskimo Pie.
