More mean-spirited, spiteful cussedness from the Trump Regime

Because President Porn Star Shagger can. Because he can override state standards that keep the air Californians breathe clean and allow car manufactureres to re-pollute the environment (Even though said car manufacturers agree with the California standards!)

Trump revels in overturning anything President Obama enacted because he's jealous of President Obama and knows he'll never, never, never be as smart, successful, and well-loved as President Obama is.

I understand penalties for failing to meet federal guidelines and rules. But to revoke a state's legal authority because that state wishes to impose even sticker rules and regulations for cleaner air than the federal government? And the only person complaining is the president?

Trump is an elected official, not a pre-ordained king. This kind of irrational, emotional, and reckless behavior will linger in the minds of voters come November 2020. He is going off the rails and is getting closer to crazy with each passing day. Governing by retaliation.

IMO, this will do for the GOP in 2020 what their Proposition 187 did for them in 1994. The backlash will be terminal to the career of the Republican who endorses Trump's blatantly vindictive plan.

I have a personal interest in this because my daughter and her family live in SoCal. However, a normal president would take care to make sure ALL Americans have clean air to breathe. Trump is not normal. He's nuts.

Trump Will End California’s Authority to Set Stricter Auto Emissions Rules

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is expected on Wednesday to formally revoke California’s legal authority to set tailpipe pollution rules that are stricter than federal rules, in a move designed by the White House to strike twin blows against both the liberal-leaning state that President Trump has long antagonized and the environmental legacy of President Barack Obama.

The announcement that the White House will revoke one of California’s signature environmental policies will come while Mr. Trump is traveling in the state, where he is scheduled to attend fund-raisers in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.

The formal revocation of California’s authority to set its own rules on tailpipe pollution — the United States’ largest source of greenhouse emissions — will be announced Wednesday afternoon at a private event at the Washington headquarters of the Environmental Protection Agency, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Consider the priorities here.

Weakening of emissions standards is delayed. Staff is struggling to "prepare legal or scientific justifications for it."

But WH will proceed with punishing CA for now.

Trump "wanted to press forward with a policy that would punish California." https://twitter.com/ThePlumLineGS/status/1174272395710029824

If I were the Governor of California I'd be sending a letter to tRump telling him to SIUHA in no uncertain terms.

Then Cali could impeach (recall) me if the voters of the state chose to.

Simply put Trump is an tyrasnical AND ignorant jackass.

OT... Trump's buddy Net-an-Yahoo looks like he's losing his iron grip on the Jewish state.

Hopefully an omen for the 2020 election in the USA.

RN I heard it's too close to call. I haven't check the NYTimes. Hope you're correct.

I say this again and again, but if there is one silver lining to the dark cloud that is the Trump presidency, it is that the veil has been removed from Republican ideology. First, the party that has touted "family values" for decades, cast its lot with a thrice-married lout who cheats on each of his three wives. The evangelical Christians, particularly, have thrown their support to Trump who is literally the human embodiment of each of the Seven Deadly Sins. Can you imagine a better example of lust, greed, gluttony, sloth, envy or pride -- much less all of them in a single person? Those seven traits literally encapsulate the entirety of Donald Trump's persona. And now, the coup de grace -- the party whose battle cry for the past half-century has been "states' rights" is trampling on the rights of the state of California. At the same time, this "party of business" has disregarded even the preferences of businesses. No one wants this rollback -- not the people, not the business community. It serves absolutely no purpose other than to take away an Obama accomplishment -- and if it contributes to the demise of humanity, too bad. What does the GOP even stand for any more, other than the wrath of its president over his injured pride, driven by his envy toward his predecessor, who was his superior in every way? When will the Republicans stand up to this narcissistic bully? He is despicable.

Well stated, RN and R.D.

PS. Several inmates from WYD have escaped and are looking for a blog to publish their rantings.

Several have come to P.E. trying to get published. What happened to WYD? Did it mercifully shut down? LOL!

I'm sure we're going to be hearing all the advocates of states rights defending California on this one. Right as the pigs start to fly.

The people of California do not object to the higher standards. Not a single auto executive is standing with the Admin on this. We've heard no politicians outside the admin advocating for this. It truly is a solution in search of a problem.

For almost 50 years the Feds have set a baseline of standards and allowed states to develop more stringent policies, if they so choose. And for 50 years, the system has worked and as a result, especially in California, the air is substantially better. I lived through the years in So Cal where we could not see the mountains on a clear summer day because of the pollution.

And serving and working in Mexico, all I have to do is visit the capital there to be reminded of what it looks and feels like. burning eyes, grey skies and pain trying to breathe.

Why on earth would anyone want to return to those days?

Why would a political party that supports states rights and for years has called states the "laboratories of democracy" not stand up and cry foul right now? Remember, it was GOP President Nixon who founded the EPA.

Is that trump's goal? Be worse than Nixon?

Re WYD...

Lisa is not taking more comments right now. She still posts updated banners, but the "false fact" crew currently has nowhere to spew their negative trash since FrancoThinke is now deleting all negative comments.

Dave, from your comment, I'm assuming the usual right wing bloggers who've support Trump in all his horrendous behaviors and trash talk have said nothing about this latest outrage. They don't like California because it's a "libtard" state, so anything Trump does to "get" the "libtards" is okay with them, it appears. Silence is complicity.

The only thing we can do is boot his miserable self out of office, but good! I hope what happened to Bibi is an omen.

Boris isn't doing too well either, is he.

Why tRump thinks this has ant popular backing is beyond me.

I hope Cal. cn get an injunction in the interim before the inevitable challenge.

OT... Lisa has reopened her Swamp Pit. With her usual whatever you call it.

Regarding the CA waiver...

The law was written to allow CA to have this waiver "as long as it met three conditions." It of course, has met those conditions since Day 1 of the law. As such, CA is in total compliance with the law and has every right, by federal law, to this waiver.

At least until we get to the lackey SCOTUS.

But who knows... maybe some conservative somewhere can explain why Trump is pushing this.

And Shaw... no, not one comment from the peanut galleries on this and how it relates to states rights.

Crickets...
