Good Luck Judge Jackson!

Monday was an historic day.

Good luck, Judge Jackson.

"Judge Jackson said when she considers cases, she is looking at the facts and the law. 'I'm methodically and intentionally setting aside personal views, any other inappropriate considerations,' she said. 'I would think that race would be the kind of thing that would be inappropriate to inject in an evaluation of a case.' "

"Tomorrow, for the first time in American history, a black woman will start the advice and consent process to sit on the Supreme Court.
And Republicans will absolutely beclown themselves trying to stop her."

GOP - Reified relics of the otherism mentality that has created the lion's share of the planet's problems. It continues to do so to this day.

Good luck Judge Jackson, you've earned this position.

The left lost its grip long ago when Clinton was in office. You remember how insane Gore acted, "hanging chads." Then on to Obama and after that it has been a downward spin of insanity. The left has lost its moral compass and its responsibility to the American people that elected them. They have become evil.

Mike,

I've seen that. No one's surprised that a Black woman would HAVE to be more qualified than her white colleagues in order to quell their suspicions on how she got to where she is.

Compare KBJ's experience to that of ACB to see what I mean.

I'm glad to see that you admit that the country went downhill during Trump's administration.

But your inane claim that "the left has lost its moral compass...they have become evil" is laughable, and only a ideologically blind far right trumpity=trumper would write such bosh.

It's too easy to refute your nonsense, but I'll just remind you of who the folks were behind the attack on the U.S. Capitol and their attempt to overthrow the government because they believed Trump's Big Lie. We'll never let you or the rest of America forget that.

BTW, Trump is now reduced to giving Putin-like rallies to his misbegotten followers. He's losing his grip and influence.

Since Republicans take their lead from Mitch McConnell, we should look at his opinion of the judge which is negative. This will be a closer vote than it should be given the judges qualifications. Just another partisan decision. How will Manchin vote?

@ lizzy - President Obama proved to be both an honorable an relatively effective president. Considering the obstructionist GOP (for 8 very long trying years) it is actually quite remarkable that as much positive got accomplished as it it. President Obama was a transitional president and the raging backlash from the ultra authoritarian conservative right produced America's biggest political abortion in modern history when D.J. Trump, the flaming lying narcissist was elected presnit in 2016.

Immediately he begin poring gas on the already existing divisions the country was experiencing. All in an attempt to undermine our institutions, our democracy, and strike at the very heart of what makes America America. The United States Constitution and the rule of law. He went as far as attempting sedition and actually did incite the attempt to overturn the results of the free and fair election that he lost in 2020.

Trump is a traitor to America and its Constitution. He should be tried for treason and if found guilty (everyone knows he's as guilty as hell except tRumpers like you lizzy) made to spend the remainder of his miserable misbegotten life behind bars. Preferable in solitary confinement until the end of his days.

It is the GQP, formerly the GOP, that is lacking in proper ethics and morality. Therefore it is the GQP that is the evil party if either are in fact is evil. Further, the GQP does not any longer give a rat's arse about representing the folks who vote for and elect them. The GQP is interested in one thing... ABSOLUTE POWER. Which is why the knuckleheads ultimately supported the Former Guy and still do to a degree. He's an authoritarian and that is the ruling philosophy the GQP now supports.

So lizzy, why don't you educate yourself before you skate in blowing smoke from wherever.

For the life of me, I can't recall any time a white nominee was asked how many times he went to church.

The Republican are not only racist enemies of democracy, they will ignore the Constitution to prove it.

From Article Six:" ...no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

Lizzy has a point with, "on to Obama and after that it has been a downward spin of insanity".

Obama brought the radical Right birther Trumpists out of the woodwork to show how racist they really are.

Speaking of enemies of our Constitution:

Anti-Constitution Ohio Republican Senate candidate Josh Mandel declared, "We should be instilling faith in the classroom, in the workplace, and everywhere in society."

The Trumpists, bigots, and American Taliban are the enemy within, and the greatest threat to our country.

There is also a Rumor going around that show Judge Jackson giving VERT LIGHT Sentences to Pedophiles. Oh, wait a minute, that's Not a rumor, that's a FACT! .

Shaw Kenawe said...

Elizabeth, please try harder. Parroting FAUX NOOZ talking points doesn't make you look intelligent; it makes you look lazy.

THE FACTS from AP: "Not so. In most of the child pornography cases where she imposed lighter sentences than federal guidelines suggested, prosecutors or others representing the Justice Department generally argued for sentences that were lighter than those recommended by federal guidelines.

So it is not correct to assert that all but two sentences she handed down in such cases, when she served as a district court judge from 2013 until last year, were “below what the government requested.”

ALSO THIS:

"A major police chiefs organization is throwing its support behind President Joe Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

In a letter sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, the International Association of Chiefs of Police urged senators to confirm U.S. Circuit Court Judge Jackson to the high court."

It is not likely that police chiefs would support and approve of someone who is soft on pedophiles.

Also, you yourself, LIZZY, admit this is only a rumor. A rumor is NOT fact-based, it's just a rumor.

PS. It's really rich to read Trumpity-Trumpers come here and talk about someone being easy on pedophiles WHEN THEIR HERO, DONALD TRUMP, WISHED GHISLAINE MAXWELL, JEFFRY EPSTEIN'S CHILD PROCURER "WELL" WHEN SHE WAS ARRESTED.

The internet is rife with photos of trump and his 3rd wife clubbing with notorious pedophiles Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

And this "Elizabeth" comes here with "rumors" about Ketanji Brown Jackson, an eminent judge, with impeccable credentials.

Dave D. Josh Mandel:"We should be instilling faith in the classroom, in the workplace, and everywhere in society."

Josh Mandel is grandstanding buffoon! Which "faith" does he have in mind for the classroom, the workplace, and everywhere in society? Christianity? Islam? Judaism? Hinduism? He's pandering to the uninformed who know nothing about America and its Constitution.

He's a major jerk. And a Trumpublican.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave D. Sen. Graham was out of order with that question. It is unConstitutional, and he should know better.

He (LG) no longer cares Shaw. If he ever in fact did.

The Way It Is said...

Judge Jackson has been endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and more than 80 Dem and GOP State AGs. That gives you a sense of her record when it comes to crime.

NATIONAL FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

25 February 2022

FOP National President Patrick Yoes Statement on Nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to SCOTUS

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, President Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to be the next Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States, and I wanted to provide the FOP’s perspective on this nominee as the confirmation process begins.

Judge Jackson comes from a law enforcement family, with two uncles who were career law enforcement officers: one was a Miami-Dade County sex crimes detective, and the other rose through the ranks of the City of Miami Police Department to become the Chief of Police. Her brother served as an undercover officer in a drug-sting unit in Baltimore after graduating from college, so she should know quite well the difficulties and dangers our officers face in the line of duty every single day.

We all approach domestic policy issues from our own points of view and life experiences. Therefore, when President Obama tapped Judge Jackson to be a Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, where she led efforts to reduce mandatory minimums and to retroactively apply sentencing for certain drug crimes, we were not always in total accord with her views. The FOP testified before the Commission on several occasions voicing our concerns with some of the proposals under consideration; however, we remained very much engaged on the issue of sentencing reform and with all of the stakeholder groups. In large part, because of this engagement and good faith efforts by all of the groups and individuals involved, including Judge Jackson and the FOP, we reached important compromises which ultimately resulted in the passage of the historic First Step Act that was signed into law by President Trump. The FOP has found that collaboration works far better than confrontation.

From our analysis of Judge Jackson’s record and some of her cases, we believe she has considered the facts and applied the law consistently and fairly on a range of issues. There is little doubt that she has the temperament, intellect, legal experience, and family background to have earned this appointment. We are reassured that, should she be confirmed, she would approach her future cases with an open mind and treat issues related to law enforcement fairly and justly. We wish her well as the confirmation process begins.

An idiot troll came to my blog today to refute the fact that the Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Judge Jackson. I guess the truth for Trumpies like Frank is just too much to bear, so the troll had a hissy fit instead of engaging in adult discussion.

Who's surprised? Not I. He's an escapee from WYD, and no one expects thoughtful comments from that nuthouse.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Here's another endorsement of Judge Jackson from another police organization. "Frank" the troll will now have a meltdown, like all toddlers do:

A major police chiefs organization is throwing its support behind President Joe Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

In a letter sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, the International Association of Chiefs of Police urged senators to confirm U.S. Circuit Court Judge Jackson to the high court.

Shaw Kenawe said...

“But despite the gratuitous attacks, Judge Jackson has been very cool under pressure. They don’t have anything real to criticize, so they’ve been trying to portray her as being soft on crime, which is interesting because she’s been endorsed by both the International Association of Police Chiefs and the Fraternal Order of Police — and the band The Police. Even Sting is in her corner.” — JIMMY KIMMEL
