MT GREENE: TELLING THE WORLD SHE IS DISLOYAL TO HER COUNTRY.

"MT Greene was among the 34 members of Congress that Mark Meadows was texting as they plotted to stage a coup. Is it any wonder she wants to gut the DOJ?"

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s January 6th comments at New York Young Republican Club Gala:

“I got to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would’ve been armed.”

MT Greene proudly tells her audience, and now the world, that if she and Steve Bannon had organized the insurrection against the United States government on January 6, 2021, she would have been armed, and she and Bannon would have prevailed in overturning the electoral count in the House of Representatives (to which she had just been elected).

She stupidly tells the world about her dreams of sedition against the government she had just sworn to uphold and whose Constitution she swore to preserve, protect, and defend.

IOW, she bragged about being a disloyal American and in favor of overturning the government that pays her very generous salary!

Can she be any dumber?

MT Greene:  "Hold my beer."

White House slams Marjorie Taylor Greene: “It goes against our fundamental values as a country for a member of Congress to wish that the carnage of January 6th had been worse, & to boast that she would have succeeded in an armed insurrection against the United States government.”

via Democratic Underground:

"Christian nationalist U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s remarks at the New York Young Republican Club’s Saturday night gala have elicited massive response – and condemnation – from many after she insisted had she been “in charge” of the January 6, 2021 insurrection the rioters “would’ve been armed” and they “would have won.”

Some are questioning how Greene can retain her congressional seat given the oath of office she swore to, which in part reads: “I, __, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Former Democratic U.S. Senator from California Barbara Boxer tweeted: “If you’re in Congress and swore to protect the Constitution & you’re asked if you had anything to do with 1/6 insurrection, you say something like: I would NEVER partake in violence against America. You wouldn’t say something like: if I did it I would’ve been armed!”

MTG is not a true American. She, like so many of the MAGA'ts in congress are idiots and anti American.

She does make a good poster person for stupid though.

Greene might be one of the dumbest to ever sit in Congress.

Dave Miller said...

Anon... dumbest? Not sure. Because she knows exactly what buttons to push to rile up the libs and garner support with the MAGA crowd.

For dumbest, I'm going with Boebert of Colorado, but maybe it's a dead heat...

Off topic, but important none the less...

On the heals of the arrest of the bomb builder in the Lockerbie bombing, the Biden Admin has announced that Sam Bankman-Fried, the ex-CEO of defunct cryptocurrency company FTX, has been arrested in the Bahamas.

A bazillion dollar swindler has been arrested. Another good day for the rule of law.

It makes you wonder how stupid the people are that vote for her.

Marjoreene is basically running the Ann Coulter playbook. She gets attention by saying outrageous things, and the only way to make that keep on working is to escalate continuously. The difference is that Coulter never held political office.

She has indeed repudiated her oath, and if the Republicans in the House really valued the Constitution they claim they're about to read aloud in the chamber, they'd expel her. Too bad most of them are just power-hungry cowards, an especially contemptible combination.

Dave Miller said...

Here are likely incoming House Speaker McCarthy's comments regarding MTG's comparison to a grocery store asking ppl to be vaccinated during the pandemic to the branding of Jews as enemies of the state in Nazi Germany...

"Marjorie is wrong, and her intentional decision to compare the horrors of the Holocaust with wearing masks is appalling. Let me be clear: the House Republican Conference condemns this language."

MTG has never apologized, repented or expressed regret over her actions and words.

Now McCarthy is set to restore her to committee assignments in the House. And remove Ilhan Omar from the same. Omar's removal comes because of, wait for it... anti-semitic comments. Comments for which she has apologized.

Why would anyone want someone like Greene involved in government? She's just not serious.

My take on MT Greene is this: She's not very bright; but she knows how to get attention by saying and doing outrageous things.

Not very bright people may get the attention they crave for a while (q.v., Trump), but in the long run, they'll hoist themselves on their own petard. (q.v.Trump)

Greene is not smart enough to keep her mouth shut. (q.v. Trump)

"John Fetterman studied finance at Albright College and earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Following the death of a close friend, he joined AmeriCorps and earned a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard.

At 23, John joined up with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and threw himself into the program, mentoring his ‘little’ – an 8-year-old boy who had recently lost his father to AIDS and whose mother was also battling the disease. Before she passed away, John promised that he would continue to look out for her son and make sure that he would graduate college. Fifteen years later, John and his ‘little’ had both held up their ends of the bargain, with his little’s graduation from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA.

The disparity between his own life and that of his ‘little’ motivated John to quit his job and join AmeriCorps, where for two years he served in Pittsburgh’s historic Hill District, helping to set up the first computer labs in the neighborhood and teaching GED classes to young mothers and fathers.

He went on to earn a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where he focused on finding solutions in social work, business, and public policy to confront urban challenges and economic inequality.

John then returned to Pennsylvania to start a GED program in the town of Braddock. John saw the beauty, grit, and determination that had been in the community’s roots for generations, and focused on turning Braddock, a town facing many obstacles, into a thriving and growing community."

John Fetterman suffered a stroke, but has been in rehab and is doing quite well in his recovery.

I don't know if you, skud, ever heard of Stephen Hawking. He suffered from a brain disease, ALS, (which my mother died from) from a very early age in his career, and yet managed to be on of science's greatest minds of the 20th century. I don't think there's anyone on this Earth who would would have called Hawking "dumb" because of his illness.

Fetterman is light years smarter than Boebert or Greene will ever be. It's no crime for them to be ignorant, only for Boebert and Greene to willfully stay that way and advertise it for all the world to see.

Boebert won back her Congressional seat, but only by a very narrow margin, which means there are a lot of folks in her district who are not enamored of her brand of gun-toting performative hee-hawing ignorance.

Only someone steeped in partisan hatred would compare the well-educated and worthy man, Fetterman, to Boebert, whose biggest contribution to American life, so far, was yelling at the POTUS while he gave his SOTU address last year, and posing with her children with AR-15s in front of a Christmas tree to celebrate the birth of their Prince of Peace.

Lauren Boebert today:

"Secretary Mayorkas should be impeached. On his watch over 14,000 pounds of fentanyl was seized in the fiscal year 2022 at our southern border. That is an all-time record high."

Apparently Boebert doesn't understand the meaning of the word "seize." Also, she apparently doesn't understand that seizing illegal drugs at the border AND STOPPING THEM FROM COMING INTO THE U.S. means Mayorkas is doing his job.

Boebert made a fool of herself while seizing the mic for more of her performative attention!

SEIZE
verb

to take hold of suddenly or forcibly; grasp: to seize a weapon. to grasp mentally; understand clearly and completely: to seize an idea. to take possession of by force or at will: to seize enemy ships. to take possession or control of

Greene did say she made those statements sarcastically but she failed to realize liberals have no sense of humor so that is her fault.

Shaw Kenawe said...

This is from the CATO organization:

Here are facts:

Fentanyl smuggling is ultimately funded by U.S. consumers who pay for illicit opioids: nearly 99 percent of whom are U.S. citizens.

In 2021, U.S. citizens were 86.3 percent of convicted fentanyl drug traffickers—ten times greater than convictions of illegal immigrants for the same offense.

Over 90 percent of fentanyl seizures occur at legal crossing points or interior vehicle checkpoints, not on illegal migration routes, so U.S. citizens (who are subject to less scrutiny) when crossing legally are the best smugglers.

The location of smuggling makes sense because hard drugs at ports of entry are about 97 percent less likely to be stopped than are people crossing illegally between them.
Just 0.02 percent of the people arrested by Border Patrol for crossing illegally possessed any fentanyl whatsoever.

The government exacerbated the problem by banning most legal cross border traffic in 2020 and 2021, accelerating a switch to fentanyl (the easiest‐to‐conceal drug).
During the travel restrictions, fentanyl seizures at ports quadrupled from fiscal year 2019 to 2021. Fentanyl went from a third of combined heroin and fentanyl seizures to over 90 percent.

Annual deaths from fentanyl nearly doubled from 2019 to 2021 after the government banned most travel (and asylum).

skudrunner "...are you going to comment on a speaker tearing up a copy of the address because she was not in favor of him."

That old chestnut again? Speaker Pelosi tore up a COPY of the address, which was not a crime. She was registering her opinion of the SOTU Trump gave that day, which was full of B.S.

How sad it is that you cannot get over that innocuous bit of theater by Pelosi, but rarely, if ever, do you mention Trump's instigating an insurrection against the United States government on January 6. What Pelosi tore up in no way endangered the lives of law enforcement, members of Congress, nor the government of the United States.

It's quite telling what bothers you and others more than that.

Greene's sense of humor included telling the New York Young Republicans that if she and Bannon had been in charge of the insurrection against the United States, they would have succeeded in overturning the election of 2020 and interfering in the certification of the electoral votes, and they would have succeeded because they would have been armed.

Those are here words.

And then she said claimed she was just joking.

That's what cowards say when they've been caught saying treasonous things.

Boebert is a proud Nationalist Christian along with Greene. As my experience has taught me, when they claim to be ‘making a joke’ they aren’t attempting humor. They are saying the horrible parts out loud hoping the ‘Libtards’ will buy it. Like Blackburns self owns when she complains about the number of undesirables stopped at the border, Boebert thinks she’s making a point, just not the one she intended.

Nice job skud to endorse Greene’s call for another armed insurrection. You don’t deserve to call yourself a patriot. Violence is never an ok option in a Democracy. If skud had one cell of empathy they would know that.

Grey One Talks Sass on their phone.

PS - I may be a touch harsh on skud due to their stating that I wouldn’t honor the death of a Law Enforcement Officer because I dared to defend Pelosi for taking a knee in honor of George Floyd. Those without a shred of empathy have no ground to complain about the lack of it in others - just saying.

If I read Taylor Green correctly, she and Bannon would have succeeded by killing the police who stood in their way and Pence and Schumer and Pelosi and maybe more.

This isn't the first time Greene has talked about killing members of the government:

lMarjorie Taylor Greene indicated support for executing prominent Democrats in 2018 and 2019 before running for Congress

Greene, who represents Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, frequently posted far-right extremist and debunked conspiracy theories on her page, including the baseless QAnon conspiracy which casts former President Donald Trump in an imagined battle against a sinister cabal of Democrats and celebrities who abuse children.

In one post, from January 2019, Greene liked a comment that said “a bullet to the head would be quicker” to remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In other posts, Greene liked comments about executing FBI agents who, in her eyes, were part of the “deep state” working against Trump.

Trending in ideology within the republican party has not been good since 1980. The phenomenon we have witnessed in the republican party as it has grown more conservative and strengthened is the product of increased acceptance of authoritarianism and the desire to insulate and protect the special interests of the very wealthy and businesses, at the expense of the general citizenry.

At the root of present day American republicanism is ignorance and greed. And, the country as well as ALL its people will ultimately pay a very large price if the trending is not shut down nbt the party and people responsible for the ignorance and greed.

skudrunner said...

Anon, Unfortunately you are correct about our political system. Our elected elite have focused all of their attention and efforts on their self preservation at the expense of ours. They reward failure and undermine the American Dream. In case you missed that in elementary school it is work hard and you will succeed.

We have a future speaker of the house who's objective is to investigate a druggie's selling influence to a VP instead of solving the government created inflation and dependence on our enemies. We have a leader who stated he doesn't have time to visit the border and look at all the carnage there because there are more important tings to do like all the money he needs to give away to further destroy the need to work. Trending ideology of the democrat party is if we make them dependent on us we own them. We can make sure they don't understand by limiting free speech with the help of the media we own. Yes you are correct that the republican is failing where the democrats are succeeding but hopefully that can be turned around.

Yes she is a strong leader of minions but I never said she didn't honor the death of a LEO. Age is a disappointing experience when the mind starts to waddle, ask joey b and me for that matter.

Dave Miller said...

Shaw... I'm not sure how ppl like Skud reason stuff out. An example is this statement from him...

"...because there are more important tings to do like all the money he [Pres Biden] needs to give away to further destroy the need to work. Trending ideology of the democrat party is if we make them dependent on us we own them.

How do we even discuss this?

First of all, it's devoid of facts. Unemployment is lower than it has ever been. More ppl are working, tax receipts are up and the economy is up. So ppl are in fact, working, as confirmed by numerous data points from all different partisan views.

Now, are there lots of Help Wanted signs in malls and around America? Yes there are. But not because Americans are staying home, because, again, from the data, we don't have a work force big enough to staff our economy.

I know this is hard stuff for conservatives to grasp, but we need to open up our immigration policies to get the workers we need to continue to expand our economy.

But ppl like Skud who choose to ignore data and facts in pursuit of a partisan and hackneyed agenda, won't accept it.

The reality is that by fixing the immigration problem, we'd fill our "Help Wanted" issue, pump more money into Social Security, grow our economy and give border states the relief from the immigration crisis they want and need.

But the GOP and the MAGA crowd are against any real fix, preferring as Skud does, to critique. As opposed to offering up any real ideas.

Anonymous said...

skid, you said she (and by inference I) would not, not that we did not. I’m in the middle of a thing but once done I have the receipts. I’ll bring them by.

Again with the vote for the bill to see what’s in it without one word about the GOP’s written notes in the margin, some notes happening moments before the vote was taken. Apparently skud believes that’s all ok because it’s the GOP doing the skullduggery.

Dave - another couple of items for consideration as to why there are so many help wanted signs is the death of millions is felt in the workforce, and folks grappling with Long COVID. As a person living with Fibro for more than a decade I can say with confidence that the Long COVID folks want to be working but their brains and bodies have other ideas. It’s not being lazy, it’s a betrayal by the body and it’s harder than hard to process.

Being all gloom and doom about this but the USA safety net is not prepared to deal with the ripples caused by COVID. I’ve said it before, we don’t have a safety net. We have old silly string.

Sadly Dave you don't discuss this. "They" do not allow HONEST discussion.

Dave Miller said...

Grey... As for the bills... right now, with leadership writing the bills, that's the way laws are getting done. Bills no longer travel along regular order, getting marked up in committees, approved by those committees and then coming to the floor.

That all ended with the Gingrich Congress and his move to control the then GOP Congress from the top. Thus, we have both bills arriving with a stamp of approval from the Speaker and some weighing in at over 2000 pages.

I hate it, and I get that Skud does also.

But as usual, he takes a reasonable issue and uses one sided snark.

skudrunner said...

Rev, You seem to be mistaken because joey b said “Because there are more important things going on. They are going to invest billions of dollars in a new enterprise in the state.”
As to unemployment and you contention that the economy is doing just great have you looked at labor participation rate or the percent of people who could work but prefer not to. It is a dismal 62.2% which is close to what 2021 was or when the faulsi stay home rules were in effect. Yes there are a lot of help wanted signs while over 9 million are not working because they choose not to.

You support the open border policy which no country has except the US. We have needed immigration reform for decades but even presidents with total control of house, senate and president did nothing so that shows how important other issues are other than immigration. I did see the border last night on a MSM so at least it is getting some exposure and now the dems cannot say the border is secure.

From the Cato Organization:

Biden’s Border Policy Is Not “Open Borders”

Practically since his first week in office, President Joe Biden has faced repeated criticisms from Republicans and some Democrats that his border policy amounts to “open borders.” This criticism is not simply inaccurate: it is unhinged from reality in a way that distinguishes itself from normal political hyperbole. Indeed, U.S. immigration policy is effectively closed borders, and Biden’s immigration policies and goals are largely the same as those of President Donald Trump.

Under U.S. immigration law, it is illegal for anyone in the world to travel or immigrate to the United States unless they fall into very narrow exceptions. Like Alcohol Prohibition—which had exemptions for religious, medicinal, or industrial purposes—America’s immigration prohibition’s small exceptions are irrelevant for the vast majority of potential immigrants. Effectively, if they don’t qualify as a select few high skilled workers or family members of U.S. citizens, they can’t come legally.

Shaw Kenawe said...

(Cont.)

"The illegal immigration problem would disappear if President Biden would simply let immigrants enter the country legally at ports of entry to request asylum, grant them work visas at consulates, or admit them from abroad under the refugee program or through “humanitarian parole”—a discretionary legal immigration authority that he has chosen only to deploy sparingly, mainly for Afghans. Yet Biden is keeping consulates closed and wasting more than 42,000 H‑2B seasonal work visas that Congress authorized him to issue.

Ultimately, Biden has made a policy choice to let in as few immigrants as possible. He’s not simply “enforcing the law.” He’s finding every way possible to keep out immigrants. Yet despite this fact, he’s still facing the same tired claims that he’s for “open borders.” If he’s going to get that claim regardless, he should just own it. Open America’s doors, and let immigrants come legally."

skudrunner said...

He is an illegal who supports ANTIFA, and gay pride which are hardly right wing groups. The media will report what advances their agenda and open borders do not advance hate toward republicans. Grey,

2.4 million migrants
WASHINGTON – Border officials encountered a record of almost 2.4 million migrants at the southern border in fiscal 2022, shattering the old record of 1.7 million set just a year earlier, according to numbers released late Friday by Customs and Border Protection

That is more people than the population of 15 of our states and you don't call that open borders. Now that title 42 is going away this figure will double. You say I just repeat what is broadcasted which is somewhat true because I do watch the news but I also have been to the border and seen for myself. Get off MSDNC and open your eyes.

Anonymous said...

I say to you skud that those numbers do mean something but not what you think they mean.

If officials were able to keep a tally of humans at the border that doesn’t mean those humans were able to walk into our country without some sort of paperwork. That makes them legal immigrants, since they have paperwork.

It’s like you, Ms Boebert, and Ms Blackburn all attended the same logic class.

By the way, these immigrants are doing jobs Americans won’t do, or no longer can do the job. It’s back breaking work you see, necessary for the success of our civilization. Pay is crap, long hours….

Skud, you like to brag about how you worked hard and became successful. Perhaps you can show the rest of us how working these immigrants jobs will lead to owning one’s business. According to you, it’s how it’s done.

(All I can think about when hearing the numbers of humanity crashing on our borders is how horrible it must be in their home countries. Much of the current instability is due to black ops taking place back when the USA’s acceptable foreign policy was to destabilize governments who didn’t play well with American corporations who wanted to use foreign lands for their own profit.)

I admire the work you do to support central Mexico and working for a non profit is not a path to wealth for most people. I read both you inserts and agree with them but they were views 16 years ago and nothing has improved only gotten worse. Every election the candidates promise to pursue immigration reform and then turn there attention to something more popular. Bush tried to get something passed and the republicans defeated it, obama gave lip service and nothing more and trump wast just into hate and it was pointed out in the media. Now we have biden who says there are more important things than going to the border and it would interrupt a fundraiser of a trip to Delaware. The immigrants who cross at a crossing say they will show up for their hearing in five years which is a big stretch.

The country cannot survive without immigrants especially from the south but to allow millions to cross is not good for the country.

Then you stated...

"Rev, I have nothing against anyone and although you characterize my views as lies about you, your statements prove me to be correct."

What statements of mine, that you've read, show that I support open borders? Where have I ever said I support open borders? Where have I ever wrote in support of "open borders"?

I used a couple of old articles, which I mostly affirmed in my comment to you, to show my long held "anti open borders" views.

So show me... I'll wait. Since you're so sure, it should be easy to find.

Dave Miller said...

Skud, now to your bothsiderism on fixing the border, we had a Bi-partisan compromise, during the Obama Admin. But the Tea Party folks in the GOP killed it. Their opposition was so strong that GOP Senator Rubio eventually voted against his own bill!

Recently we had another Bi-Partisan compromise between Sen Tillis and Sinema. But once again, the GOP scuttled it.

Why? Because the GOP is unable to face the reality I wrote about in my post "16 years ago." Any bill, that is going to pass, is going to need to piss off the purists of the Dems who reflexively oppose stronger border enforcement and the GOP who reflexively oppose anyone here without papers getting some sort of amnesty.

But is is not the Dems holding this up. In both those bi-partisan bills, the Dems have supported stronger border enforcement done at the same time as an amnesty. But the GOP has refused.

The reality is this... to get broad support from voters, we need a solution from both parties. And that final outcome, as I've said for years, will have to include some level of amnesty and tighter border enforcement.

Anyone thinking in the we win/you lose mentality is living in La La Land on this. We need a strong bi-partisan solution that opens up legal US immigration, provides some level of amnesty to those already here and effectively secures our border and speeds up our asylum claims.

Now, what creative solutions do you suggest beyond the tired "we need to close our borders"? Because just complaining is not really a solution.

skudrunner said...

Rev, I will revert to someone who always says if you don't specifically denounce every action of trump's then you are pro trump, the same holds true for borders. If you don't denounce the influx of invited border guests than you are for open borders. (since illegal immigrants seems to offend some I will now refer to them as invited border guests and sooth some hurt feelings).

As to immigration reform I thought obama's plan of 2013/14 was a good plan that should have been acted on but it is not about immigrants it is all about politics. If you expect the GOP to come up with a plan for anything you will be disappointed because they are a clueless party and if you expect the dems to come up with anything you will also be disappointed because unless they can grandstand and get their way they will just point fingers and blame.

You believe democrats have answers and republicans are evil. I believe both are nothing but corrupt, self serving organizations who serve no purpose other than to make themselves rich.

Les Carpenter said...

As is common skud you AGAIN do not answer the the question posed. So, i'll ask it again, perhaps you will give a direct answer this time.

Dave asked, Now, what creative solutions do you suggest beyond the tired "we need to close our borders? Give it a shot skud. You can do it!

Dave Miller said...

Nice try Skud... but expected. You lied when you said I was for open borders. All of my statements have been consistent in regard to fixing the problems at the border. I write and have spoken publicly at conferences around the country in support of stronger measures to control illegal immigration.

So you can revert to something all you want. But you can't even get that right. In light of the pro or anti Trump support people, the standard you cite, which I have used in the past is this...

The GOP, the conservative right, republicans, ppl like yourself, demanded that standard after 9/11. So it seems perfectly reasonable to me to hold the right and the MAGA crown to a standard they demand of others.

But I never supported that concept outside of an argumentation looking for consistency among the right.

I've given you two, maybe three chances to walk back your statement, apologize, present any evidence at all of you allege I have said in support of open borders. You have not done any of that. All I can conclude is that you are unable to to do so out of embarrassment, shame, willful ignorance or because you knew when you wrote it, it was a lie.

I think many of us actually enjoy having you at PE. An outside view, something different is always valuable and I admire Shaw for allowing you to post here. Unlike other places where they decry censorship on the left and refuse to let any dissenting views post or be published.

And I appreciate having your voice here too. Just not when you lie about me in such obviously verifiable ways.

It's the ego that causes all the delusions and obscurations, and, as a result suffering occurs. Yeah skud, you are right about one thing. Both democrats and republicans act in their ego driven self interests. It's just that democrats, socialists, and independents tend to be more open, honest, and less affected by ego driven selfishness. Cons should, IMHO, consider being more open and less obtuse.

Rev, I will no longer accuse you of favoring open borders you are just not for closed borders. I do think those cancel out each other. Invited border guests are running rampant in certain towns along the Southern border and it is only a crisis when they appear in northern cities. When we have a president say he has more important things to do than protect our borders it should concern everyone. When he has time to fly to Calif for a fund raiser and to deleware every weekend for a break but no time for he or the highly talented VP to see the border for them selves we should all be concerned.

Leslie, I agree the dems do a better PR job on their self interests and some fall for it.
