Trump: Exactly What The TGOP Wanted

From Mark Sumner:

"The thing is, you could put anyone out there, anyone and if they were screaming loudly enough they'd instantly be a GOP frontrunner. The GOP has discarded the idea that experience in government has value, that knowledge has value, that reason has value. Only saying what they want to hear has value, and what they want to hear is someone acting like an asshole.

Having worked diligently to encourage the idea that Americans can't trust the government, shouldn't Republicans now be cheering the fact that their own candidates with government experience are getting bested by those with none?

Having spent decades declaring that money is the only measure of a person, shouldn't the GOP be pleased that their leading candidate can get away with saying anything, so long as he also talks about his billions?

Having dedicated so much time trying to tear down respect to every institution, should[n't] the GOP be pleased that they're now getting no respect?

After all, this is exactly what they wanted."

Sumner's spot on, except the Cringe Fringe is unhappy.  They're blaming everyone but themselves for creating the rough beast that slouched its way into the top spot of the TGOP presidential candidates' popularity poll.

And cue the WATBs as the TGOP blames everything but itself:   It's Megyn Kelly's fault for hitting Donnie with a "gotcha!" question! It's the "enemedia's" fault for picking on poor Donnie! It's Megyn Kelly who's the bully, not the guy who eagerly passed along a tweet about Kelly's performance at FAUX NOOZ's Q&A that exposed Donnie for the trou de cul that he surely is -- she was on the rag!

None of the Blame Kelly First! geniuses talk about Donnie not having a single cogent statement on domestic or foreign policy, because that would demolish their precious theory that everyone's out to get the poor, poor pitiful billionaire and the poor, poor conservatives who adore him.

Oh, wait.  That's not quite true.  Here's what Donnie said about some domestic policies he would enact as preznit:

Domestic:

He'd build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico and make Mexico PAY! (No details on how that would happen.  But hey!  It's a plan.)

Obamacare?  He'll repeal it and replace it with "something terrific."

Foreign:

He'd bring back jobs from China and Mexico. (No details on how that would happen. Just saying it will happen, in Donnie's world, is the same as telling us how it will happen.  Trust him.  He's a four-bankruptcy billionaire businessman!)

On Iran and Iraq?  Since Iran is going to take over Iraq, Donnie said we should just take over Iraq's oil fields. (Again, nothing on how he would presidentially do this. Details, details! Saying it makes it so.)

Those are just a few example of the total absence of anything of substance the front runner in the GOP army of candidates has to say about anything serious.  And, of course, that's because Megyn Kelly is a big blonde meanie who exposed Donnie in front of a YOOOOOOOOGE American audience as the braying jackass that he is.

Right now half the Tea-Pee-ers have their pitchforks and torches out to get Kelly and half are supporting her.  The TGOP is consuming itself all thanks to the jerk they created and nurtured:  Trumpelstiltskin! (The fairy tale gnome who taught a queen how to spin hay into gold, but who stamped his feet into oblivion when the queen told everyone his real name.)

Need to blame someone other than the pretty woman who asked Donnie those tough GOTCHA! questions?

Go look in the mirror.

From the Trump campaign (again, nothing of substance on policy issues, just more back and forth on ad hominem attacks and personal insults -- that's all Trump is about, and the Tea-Pee-ers lap it up).

"Mr. Trump made Megyn Kelly look really bad — she was a mess with her anger and totally caught off guard. Mr. Trump said “blood was coming out of her eyes and whatever” meaning nose, but wanted to move on to more important topics. Only a deviant would think anything else. This related to the debate, which because of Mr. Trump had 24 million viewers — the biggest in cable news history. According to TIME, Newsmax, Drudge Report, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Hill and many others, Mr. Trump won the debate.
By the way, the guy (Erick Erickson) who made the decision about RedState called Supreme Court Justice David Souter a “goat [expletive] child molester” and First Lady Michelle Obama a “Marxist Harpy.” He was forced to make a humbling apology.

Also, not only is Erick a total loser, he has a history of supporting establishment losers in failed campaigns so it is an honor to be uninvited from his event. Mr. Trump is an outsider and does not fit his agenda.

Many of the 900 people that wanted to hear Mr. Trump speak tonight have been calling and emailing—they are very angry at Erickson and the others that are trying to be so politically correct. To them Mr. Trump says, “We will catch you at another time soon.”

If the Democrats wanted to make the TGOP look like a disorganized in-fighting version of the Jerry Springer show, they couldn't have come up with a better person to lead them. It's The Donald, all the way down.

Yep. When they look at Trump, they are looking in the mirror -- they just don't realize it.

And even the more rational conservatives refuse to grasp the problem. Watch for them to come back with vague criticisms of Hillary and try to re-frame this as something affecting both parties. They will not allow themselves to understand what's happening. And so they won't be able to deal with it.

Kelly is like the guy in a monster movie who makes the first feeble, doomed effort to stop the monster and gets eaten, thus showing the audience how dangerous the situation is. But this movie is so badly written that half the audience thinks the monster is the hero.

I've heard right-wingers complain that the Fox News moderators treated Trump unfairly during the debate. It's ironic that Trump's fans love his bully tactics, but act defensive whenever someone plays hardball with HIM.

Trump's attitudes toward women are vile, and his comments about Megyn Kelly after the debate were out of line. Still, there's a certain irony in all this. Fox News created this Frankenstein monster by giving him plenty of free publicity, only for the monster to turn on one of its journalists. I hope Fox will see him for what he is soon.

I guess the Tea Party finally has someone "who will and can do what they have been wanted done for many years now."

The TP thinks Trump is not a typical lying politician. Heh. But fact checkers have found his statements Mostly False, False, and Pants On Fire Liar. But the dunderheads who support him aren't concerned with pesky facts like that. And besides in their minds, all fact checking sites are run by Communist Libtards, especially sites that back up their findings with facts.

And in their simple minds, we Democrats "are on the defensive" calling Trump names!

These are the folks that support Trump.

The GOP is about bitching and moaning about government policies and non-GOP politicans. They are very good at it and the tea partiers love it. They are not good at setting policy and governing. To see that, all you have to do is look at their record. Their presidencies have been failures, and currently all Congress can do is obstruct. They are doing nothing constructive.

Infidel753,

I thought Trump was toast after his insult to John McCain, but I miscalculated the TPers' appetite for buffoonery. The uproar over Trump's insulting remarks about Kelly was a bit puzzling coming from a party that makes it their policy to demean women on a regular basis (see Sandra Fluke, Hillary Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama, and any woman who doesn't pass their 1950s idea of what womanhood should be.)

It appears this verbal assault has angered even SOME of the base.

Ahab,

Trump threw a hissy fit because a cable news talking head gave him some "tough" questions. Shows what an utter weakling he'd be on the world stage dealing with really tough world leaders.

C.J.3rd,

Those quotes sound like the babble one reads on TP blogs. Incoherent and moronic.

Jerry,

It is a fact that this country does better financially under Democratic presidencies than it does under Republican. So far the only plan the TGOP has is to cut more taxes on the rich and end Social Security and Medicare.

Trump's an utter jackass. But that seems to be what a large portion of the fringe right base wants.

Is Faux Snooze (which clearly wants him gone) losing control of the wackos?

What about money? Can Trump finance a campaign independently or is he too heavily leveraged?

Are we watching a battle for control of the party?

Do Trump supporters actually get off the couch and vote?

So many questions. So little popcorn.

That's the weird thing about this. Being a tough guy is a big part of his schtick, but freaking out over Kelly's questions like this makes him seem thin-skinned. A real "tough guy" would just brush it off and move on. Imagine how ineffective Obama would be if he had a meltdown like this every time somebody on Fox said something bad about him.

Just think how dangerous someone is who has a thin skin and a nuclear weapon.

So Dad recorded the debate for entertainment value. We got through about thirty-nine minutes before calling it quits.

"Blood coming out..."

What I immediately noticed that unlike every other interaction between co-moderator and questioned debater, the camera conspicuously did not return to show Megyn's response to the playground bully, instead panning the crowd.

She was most likely smoldering and the producers had already conspired to squelch her response, effectively scripting the entire exchange as an intentional insult to all women.

FUK FOX. Never watch that channel ever. It's just a mind-numbing drug for stupid, old conservatives. Wake up and turn on FOX news. Might as well be brain-dead.

Survey Monkey sez Trump and Cruz, 1 and 2. Yikes!

Ben Carson gained 3 by saying nothing in the debate and Jeb! lost 3 by saying nothing in the debate. Carly is en fuego.
