Karma, karma, karma, karma ...

Candace Owens, a darling of the Trumpublicans and anti-vaxxer anarchists, experienced some well-deserved karma this week:

Source: The Daily Beast

The owner of a private COVID testing clinic turned right-wing provocateur Candace Owens away for spreading COVID misinformation and discouraging mask use, according to a screenshot of an email posted online by Owens.

“We cannot support anyone who has pro-actively worked to make this pandemic worse by spreading misinformation, politicizing and DISCOURAGING the wearing of masks and actively dissuading people from receiving life-saving vaccinations,” the owner wrote.

“My team and myself have worked overtime, to exhaustion, unpaid and underpaid this past year, spending our own capital to ensure that our community remains protected. It would be unfair to them and to the sacrifices we have all made this year to serve you.”

According to previous media reports, the owner, Suzanna Lee, runs a private lab in the ski resort town of Aspen, Colorado. She directed Owens to the only other testing site in the city, but said it had inconsistent wait times for results.

She is always up for the attack because she is not a racist and attacks those who are. It is discouraging for Texas to say women do not have the right to make up their mind if they want to kill their unborn. Mass murder is legal with roe vs wade and it should be left alone. What difference does it make if the unborn heart can be heard to make the determination whether to kill it or not, silly restrict personal choice in this but not in requiring masks in school..

We're not going to have a back and forth over abortion. To ban abortion completely and to put a bounty on women who seek abortion for whatever reason is EXACTLY what the Taliban would do.

Forced state pregnancies is as unethical than forced state abortions.

The state has no business making health decisions that should be between a woman and her doctor.

The same people who want to eliminate all access to abortion want to eliminate all access to birth control.

I find people who call abortion "mass murder" hypocrites, because they generally are the same people who don't want paid maternal leave after a baby is born; who don't want universal health care for mothers who need it for their babies; who don't want subsidized child care for working mothers, who are against free lunches for children in school.

As everyone knows, the people who call abortion "mass murder" are the same folks who don't give a damn about what happens to infants, babies, and children after they're born.

IMO, this is not about caring about the unborn, it's about controlling and/or punishing women.

A woman doesn't get pregnant by herself, yet there's NOTHING in any of the anti=abortion laws that put any responsibility on the impregnator of those women.

I call bullshit on anyone who calls a woman's right to control her own body "mass murder."

PS. Do the self-righteous who call abortion "mass murder" know that abortion is legal and in many cases FREE in Israel? We send billions and billions of $$$ each year to Israel, and the Evangelical Christians are devoted supporters of that state.

Keep that in mind when you hear Evangelical Christians support Israel-- abortion is legal and in most cases FREE in Israel, and Evangelicals love Israel and support it in every way!

Shhh! Don’t Tell Evangelical Supporters of Israel, but Abortion There Is Legal — and Often It’s Free

Neither religious conservatives nor liberal feminists are completely satisfied with the status quo in the Jewish state, but the current system allows some 40,000 women to have abortions annually

Israel’s abortion law now among world’s most liberal
Despite its conservative leanings, government approves free pregnancy termination for nearly all women, and it barely causes a ripple

So.

My question is HOW THE HELL CAN EVANGELICALS SUPPORT ISRAEL???

Can someone tell me how they live with that cognitive dissonance.

Shaw... the reason abortion is legal in Israel is because under Jewish law and custom, a baby is not considered whole, and therefore a person until the head crowns during birth.

That's exactly the stance the Southern Baptists, and other evangelicals took when Roe V. Wade was decided by the SCOTUS in 1973. It wasn't until later in the 70's when evangelicals started to form the "Moral Majority" and took up what until then was a "Catholic Problem" and made it their signature issue to divide public opinion, bludgeon social liberals and drive the concept of wedge issue politics that we saw abortion emerge as a political issue.

I noticed in Skud's typically snarky response that he sees nothing wrong with making girls and women who are victims of rape, incest and sexual abuse carry the babies of essentially monsters to full term.

So here we go again. Fighting a fight we fought 50 years ago. We should remind people what life was like for women when abortion was illegal. It was so dismal that it convinced a majority of America to make abortion legal and keep it legal for almost 50 years.
Some people don't seem to understand the right to choose idea and how that fits into a free society. The government has no business telling women what they can do with their bodies no matter how disgusting they find a certain procedure. This is a concept conservatives seem to understand except when it comes to abortion.
"Packing the courts" is something I do not like, but the fight for freedom takes many paths and securing rights for citizens makes those options acceptable.

Rev, I am not anti abortion as you seem to indicate and it is the women's decision. It is the women who must live with the decision and should only be her decision. I am not in favor of the Texas law and it make no sense to me and paying someone to snitch is flat out wrong.

I am not a religious person and don't know when life begins but it seems like once there is a heart beat there is life. It is a political issue not a persons issue. Roe vs Wade is the law and should remain the law. Guess it is up to the voters going forward.

This fight? It will be eternal. As long as fanatics exist who wish to control the lives of women..

Advanced stages of the same? The Taliban. Hm, and the trump administration sat and negotiated with them. Giving them legitimacy they do not deserve.

America is beyond floundering. It is falling.

Skud... I think that's the most reasoned, non snarky answer I've ever seen from you. I'm not totally in agreement, but I see your point.

Enjoy the weekend...
