Who's surprised?

ROLLING STONE Reports:

EXCLUSIVE: Jan. 6 Protest Organizers Say They Participated in ‘Dozens’ of Planning Meetings With Members of Congress and White House Staff

Two sources are communicating with House investigators and detailed a stunning series of allegations to Rolling Stone, including a promise of a “blanket pardon” from the Oval Office.

While there have been prior indications that members of Congress were involved, this is also the first account detailing their purported role and its scope. The two sources also claim they interacted with members of Trump’s team, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who they describe as having had an opportunity to prevent the violence.

The two sources, both of whom have been granted anonymity due to the ongoing investigation, describe participating in “dozens” of planning briefings ahead of that day when Trump supporters broke into the Capitol as his election loss to President Joe Biden was being certified.

“I remember Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically,” the organizer says. “I remember talking to probably close to a dozen other members at one point or another or their staffs.”

 [skip]

Along with Greene, the conspiratorial pro-Trump Republican from Georgia who took office earlier this year, the pair both say the members who participated in these conversations or had top staffers join in included Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas).

“We would talk to Boebert’s team, Cawthorn’s team, Gosar’s team like back to back to back to back,” says the organizer.

It's all beginning to come together as more evidence is uncovered by the Congressional investigation into the January 6 insurrection by pro-Trump mobs.

According to this new report, members of Congress participated in the planning to overthrow a free and fair election and install the loser of that election, Donald J. Trump, as the illegitimate POTUS.

It's shocking to understand that members of Congress, who swore an oath to the Constitution -- not to Donald J. Trump -- betrayed their oath of office and gave their allegiance to a cheat, a liar, and a fraud, and not to their country.

Those members of Congress who participated should be thrown out in disgrace.

Well, it is becoming clearer and clearer that the anti liberty, pro authoritarian, pro conspiracy, and anti science crowds have metastasized.

The cancer of racially driven otherism, greedy capitalism, disregard for the health of mother earth, disrepect for basic truth, and disregard for common decency now defines in full the motives of the rotten stinking republican (trumpubblican) party. It's taken 42 years, but the gop arrived at the natural endpoint of its pathetic quest for dictatorial powers on o1/06/2021. It will not stop.

This nation today is not the nation "The Greatest Generation" passed on to their children and grand children. The ignorancee, greed, and unbridled self interest this nation is consumed with is destroying the very fabric it was created from.

And you'll hear no dissent from the right about any of this. Their view is that whatever they need to do is alright, because it is all in the interest of "saving" the country from ppl like us.

I was a Republican for 40 years. I quit the party 12 years ago, tired of Cheney and the Tea Party. Today, as an Independent, I watch a GOP that is primarily composed of Evangelicals, NRA gun nuts, QAnon fanatics and Fox News conspiracy theory addicts. How low the Party of Lincoln has descended. It is no longer the party of Eisenhower, or Nixon, or Reagan, or George H.W. Bush. Buckley would be appalled how far they have fallen. Today, they are attached to the lowest possible common denominator - a narcissistic, ignorant, chaotic megalomaniac, who is known as Donald J. Trump.

Words matter whether spoken or on social media. I would like to see a compilation, by year and in 2020, by month, for tweets and postings by Trump and all Republican Congressmen and Senators, especially those promulgating lies and conspiracy theories.

I'm sure that would show a pattern of lies and premeditated hateful diatribes meant to cast doubt on our democratic institutions and a disrespect for anyone who doesn't agree with them. If this compilation of comments were published, it would be a bestseller and, I believe, rock the nation.

There are many instances in history where blatantly lying leaders brought on wars and destruction. Nazi Germany comes to mind, of course, but there must be more.

All the REPUBLICAN Congressmen and women who helped plan the Jan. 6 assault on American democracy need to be totally unmasked. Leaders and historians need to explain why their lies and conspiracy theories need to be uncovered and discredited.

Any REPUBLICAN Congressman or woman who was part of the communication chain resulting in the Jan. 6, insurrection needs to be held accountable and pay a price for their treachery against their country. They have made a mockery of their elected positions and don't deserve to serve this country any longer. IOW, "Throw The Bums Out!"

Throw them out!

"Cowboys for Trump" Founder, facing charges, Turns on Trump for abandoning jan 6th rioters

(Newsweek) Cowboys for Trump founder Couy Griffin, who is facing charges in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot, has turned on the former president in a conference speech for abandoning January 6 rioters and failing to deliver on a campaign promise. "We supported President Trump because of his fight for justice as well. And for four years we cried, 'Lock her up. Lock her up. Lock her up.' We know she's a criminal. What did the president tell us? 'If I was in charge of the law, you'd be in jail,'"

Griffin said Sunday at a QAnon conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. "Mr. President, you've been in charge of the law for four years," he added. "At the end of your four year time, the only ones locked up were men like me, and others like me, that have stood by the president the strongest."

Trump left his deluded supporters "twisting in the wind." Now Trump can reap the whirlwind himself.

Marjorie Taylor Greene was at the White House in late December 2020 saying she had a "great planning session for our January 6th objection. We aren't going to let this election be stolen by Joe Biden and the Democrats.”

Expel and arrest Greene.

That ain't gonna haqppen. I'll bet on it.

I can't wait for the criminal charges. How about a charge of treason.

If the "whirlwind" is just it will jail, try, and convict them ALL of sedition and insurrection. Especially and most certainly the ring leader Donald J. Trump. May they ALL pay the heaviest price for their traitorous activity.

They ALL deserse nothing but disdain and to be ostracized by good and decent people.

But... or course nothing of the sort will happen. This nation is simply too far gone already.

Here's another co-insurrectionist -- and a member of Congress:

"Republican Paul Gosar told Jan. 6 rioters they'd get a blanket pardon from Trump: report

Rolling Stone is reporting that a pair of witnesses have spoken to the House Jan. 6 Select Committee revealing that Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) told them President Donald Trump would issue a blanket pardon for some who attacked the U.S. Capitol that day.

"While there have been prior indications that members of Congress were involved, this is also the first account detailing their purported role and its scope," said the report. Both of the sources said that there were several members of Congress who participated in planning calls, but Gosar, in particular, was named for making blanket promises that couldn't be kept."

And you use that world renowned rolling stone as a source. Why not quote the other non biased source like NYT. The question should not be is trump guilty of conspiracy the question should really be how did we vote in such an incompetent as president following trump. The answer is the left is only focused on getting trump. Biden and the leftist media is only interested in blaming everyone else but biden for his massive screw ups. Now the supply chain crisis is shoppers fault because we buy to much stuff.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud

Apparently you don't know the difference between opinion and reporting.

skud: "The question should not be is trump guilty of conspiracy..."

To anyone who cares about democracy, THAT is EXACTLY what we need to ask. Your wildly partisan attacks on Joe Biden are useless because we can see they're nothing but retributional payback for having to listen to 6 years of attacks on the liar, cheat, and fraud, Donald J. Trump.

Trump PROMISED to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it -- that was his first and biggest promise to his cult. FAIL!

Trump PROMISED to repeal and replace the ACA with a cheaper and better national healthcare package for all Americans -- another big promise to ALL Americans. FAIL!

Trump PROMISED that COVID-19 would "disappear" in the spring of 2020, and that perhaps injecting disinfectant would get rid of it. EPIC FAIL.

The Mueller Report stated: "If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Which means for those who do not understand English that Donald J. Trump COMMITTED A CRIME.

On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump's thugs attacked the U.S. Capitol screaming "HANG PENCE!" People died in that insurrection.

And you're hear talking about Joe Biden's incompetence? There's NOTHING wrong with Joe Biden, he's doing the best he can in dealing with a corrupt Trumpublican Party and two disloyal Democrats that aim to disrupt and deny him the legislation he ran on.

Take a good hard look at what's happened to America since 30% of its citizens fell under the spell of a LIAR, a CHEAT, and a FRAUD -- Donald Trump.

You and your fellow travelers want Americans to "move on" from the attack Trump's thugs perpetrated on our country and pretend that our troubles began with Joe Biden?

No. That's not going to happen. What Trump incited on Jan. 6 will not be forgotten nor go unpunished.

When your own guy is an ineffective POS the very FIRST thing folks like skuddy buddy look to do is deflect or make flimsy excuses for their guy and then proceed to attack the other side. Usually on groundless and unbsubstantiated BS.

President Biden, the legitimately elected president (who is by FAR more competent than trump ever was), had absolutely NOTHING to do with the sedition and insurrection nor was he responsible for trump's many blunders. Trying to switch blame to Biden for his alleged "incompetence" is laughable at best and pathetic at its core.

skuddy buddy and others certainly are entitled to thier opinions. The make believe stories they constantly tell themselves (and others) are almost comical. Other than the stories that support their delusions are also very dangerous due to the fact that nearly 35% of the country believe the delusions.

It's time for the prosecutors to put the hammer down and get to the bottom of this. If these allegations are true, these rogue Representatives participated in a conspiracy to overthrow the government. That's not free speech, that's a crime.

If enough credible testimony and evidence can be learned from those facing serious jail time, then these people must also be prosecuted. Kicking them out of the House is not going to happen because there aren't enough votes.

Trump is being drawn into this more each day. If he promised a blanket pardon to the participants in advance, then he is in big trouble.

The truth of these allegations can be judged by how aggressively Republicans start using their famous, "It's time to move on" excuse. If we start hearing that all the time, then look out.

RN You are spot on! That's why skudrunner runs here and craps all over Biden, who is by any measure a better and more decent human being than Trump ever was or ever will be. And the apple (Don, Jr.) didn't fall far from the tree! Junior is as soulless and indecent as his father.

Anonymous, We have to be patient. All in good time, the people who swore allegiance to the Liar, the Cheat, and the Fraud, will be exposed for what they are.

Trump has done more to hamper the conservative movement than anyone in recent history. He did a lot of good things for the country but his approach was despicable. The problem is he is still a threat to the conservative side and the only thing that will stop him is if he is convicted which would be good for the country.

I'm sure joey is a nice guy but he has always been gaff prone and never been a leader. The problem now is his gaffs have real consequences in that they turn into multiple crisis's which are undeniable. We do need an investigation in to Don, jr and hunter to see how many skeletons are in their closet. It won't happen because the elected elite won't allow it but would be good for the country.

I don't buy into the 30-35% have a favorable opinion of trump and support him. Yes there are some goofs that support him but there are some that support AOC and her crowd. If joey's numbers keep falling he will equal donnie's.

Shaw Kenawe said...

skud, I just check Gallup and other polls to see where Trump's numbers were at this same time in his presidency: Trump was polling in the low 30s. So by that measure, Biden is doing much, much better than Trump did at this time in his presidency.

Also, Biden was polling in the 60s at the beginning of his presidency; Trump never made it above 50%. Ever.

We're a divided nation. I doubt ANY president will ever stay in the 50 and 60 percent range ever again.

PS. Unlike Greene and Boebert (or whatever her name is), AOC never encouraged people to attack the Capitol building and threaten the life of the U.S. president.

It appears both of those despicable women were in on this seditious plan from the beginning.

Also. The combined I.Q. of both those women hovers around room temperature.

Shaw Kenawe said...

That should read "...threaten the life of the VICE president."

For some it is better (I guess) to believe the stories they tell themselves in support of their cherished beliefs rather than to actually be aware of reality and what is really going on.

Ignorance is the single biggest problem facing humanity. Thee other is of course greed. They are closely linked.

Shaw Kenawe said...

I guess skud hasn't read this:

Ex-head of Trump’s COVID response team says 40 percent fewer Americans would have died if he’d supported basic protocols.

What's 40% of 600,000 dead Americans? 240,000 dead Americans.

And skud says Biden in incompetent? Trump makes Biden look like Einstein!

Almost a quarter of a million Americans dead because of Trump's incompetence!

Apparently, Skidmark thinks the supply chain break-down only happened after Biden was elected in a landslide. Nobody bother tell him about the empty shelves of paper goods, cleaning supplies, major appliances, computer parts, and many others that started right after the pandemic hit. Poor little Trumper Skid can only regurgitate the standard right wing lies and lines.

skudrunner said...

Got it blueballs, biden is responsible for nothing and it is all trumps fault. At least the left and the media is unified in their message. Anything bad that happens during this administration in the last 10 month, blame trump. It is a good strategy because so far nothing in this administration has gone right so you have to blame someone else which joey is great at doing. The problem with that is some people stay informed and realize it is a headless administration but lets blame trump.

Les Carpenter said...

Ignorance on steriods just entered the room in the form of skidmarks. Folks (many) on the right just cannot break free from the stories they constantly tell themselves. Unfortunately they are legion.

Bluebullamerica said...

So Skid, I see putting words in my mouth is your new bad habit. There are things about Biden I'm not happy about. Still and all though, on his worst day he's millions of miles better than the last clown. Now, back to my facts; Are you somehow blaming President Biden for the massive shortages we faced while your boy was in office? Really? How Repuibliclown of you. . . .
