WHO WILL THEY BLAME THIS ONE ON?

Well, they can't blame it on taking God and prayer out of school.

The Covenant School is a small academy housed at a Presbyterian church.

They can't say it was a bad guy with a gun because it was a 28-year old female, armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun.

IT'S. THE. GUNS.

We have more firearms than people in this country, and that means we'll continue to have school, church, theater, hospital, -- you name it -- shootings.

America has decided that massacres of children and others are the price we must pay in order for teenagers and adults to own and conceal carry weapons of war.

America used to be a nice country.

ANOTHER SCHOOL SHOOTING

"A heavily armed female assailant opened fire at the school, the police say. A heavily armed woman entered a Christian school in Nashville on Monday morning and fatally shot three children and three staff members before she was shot and killed by the police, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

The spokesman, Don Aaron, said that investigators were working to identify the woman who had opened fire at the Covenant School, which serves about 200 students from preschool through 6th grade, according to its website. The 28-year-old woman was armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun, the police said, and it was not immediately clear if she had any connection to the school."

On the same day 3 children and 3 adults died by gun at a school in Nashville, Arkansas introduced legislation giving students permission to have hand guns at school.

***********************

Below is a Christmas card sent out by Andy Ogles, Congressman for Tennessee's 5th district, which makes up part of Nashville, where a shooter just took the lives of 7 Americans, including 3 children.

Can someone explain to me why an American who lives in a country where the main cause of death for children and teens are firearms -- why would he, his wife, and children pose brandishing assault rifles for a Christmas card?

What is his message? Can someone explain it to me?  Andy's a Christian. Don't Christians call their Savior the "Prince of Peace?"

What do assault rifles symbolize in this photo?

And why do people elect these sort of dumbass idiots to represent them?

Nashville school shooting victims identified

The six victims fatally shot by the active shooter at Covenant School are identified as:

Evelyn Dieckhaus,
Hallie Scruggs, and
William Kinney,
all age 9,

Cynthia Peak, age 61,
Katherine Koonce, age 60,
and Mike Hill, age 61.

Koonce was the headmaster at the school.

Just another "normal day" in the good ole USA. Thanks to the misunderstood second, the criminal NRA, and the republican party.

Nothing will change as long as there is so much ignorance and stupidity hailed as protecting rights and liberty.

It's apparently okay in red country, cause after all its just collateral damage for the right to bear and use firearms.

Our founders certainly did NOT intend what exists today in the nation they founded.

It's hate performed with a gun. Four students were killed in Idaho with a knife. Six people were killed with a vehicle. Three were killed with a pressure cooker. What do all of these incidents have in common, HATE. Democrats will blame republicans and republicans will blame democrats when both are guilty of creating hate. trump is on a hate crusade against the democrat party and joey b blames all failures on republicans. The number one threat to us is politicians.

I was thinking about writing a post, but you beat me to it, Shaw, with a much better post. So here's what I was about to post:

"At least three children and three adults are dead after a shooting Monday at the Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, that teaches preschool through 6th grade, police said.

Monday morning's shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, is the 128th mass shooting in the US so far in 2023, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive.

The Gun Violence Archive defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are shot, excluding the shooter.

Three students and three adults were killed at the Covenant School. The shooter, an unidentified white female, was also killed in a shootout with police.

Last year, the US hit 100 mass shootings on March 19, per the GVA. The previous year, 2021, saw a late March date as well. From 2018 to 2020, the country didn't reach 100 mass shootings until May.

The white female shooter who opened fire at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, was armed with at least two "assault-type" rifles and a handgun."

Was she another right wing extremist tRumper? Probably was, but it can't be 100% proven because she took the typical rightturd's cowardly way out. She probably set herself up to be taken out, but that's just my guess.

All tRumpers are mentally deranged psychopaths who need to be taken out at all costs and put in Federal prison for life.

And now they are saying the shooter was a trans person. That'll get the right-wingers stirred up.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Mike Yes, it's all over Trumplandia. The Trumpistas never bothered to mention any other mass shooters before, but they jumped on this one because it involves a group they hate.

Meanwhile, other countries have transgender people, but this is the only country awash in weapons of war that can be legally sold to children and adults and concealed carried.

Firearms is the leading cause of deaths of children and teens in America.

We're unique in that. But not in having mentally unbalanced citizens.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Les and Derve,

I've heard and read all day that we should have more armed guards at schools, that hormones for treatment of transgender people somehow caused this massacre, etc., etc. All of that is pure b.s.

We have more guns than people. And guns are the leading cause of death for children and teens in this country.

And the Republicans and the NRA support that.

Dave Dubya said...

More "thoughts and prayers" for coping with the "price of freedom" claptrap.

Hate on the Right for trans will be amped up even more. No "both sides" about it.

Republicans have been looking for a catchy slogan, and Rep. Tim Burchett (R - TN) has given them one:

“We’re not gonna fix it.”

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) on school shootings:

The fact that this coward says "We're not gonna fix it," means he understands something is broken.

The GQP and your tax dollars at work: "We're not gonna fix it."

When it’s your rights being legislated away perhaps you will understand this shooter. Violence is never… it doesn’t achieve what you think it will achieve. It’s just doing unto others as they have done to you. The cycle has to stop somewhere. For me, the buck stops here.

And the key is guns, firearms, weapons of murder and mayhem; created to inflict horrific wounds to clog up resources and siphon personnel.

We are
Doing it to
Ourselves
Stop it!!!!

Got to be trumps fault because everything in the universe that is wrong is trumps fault. Has nothing to do with mental illness, has nothing to do with worthless politicians, has nothing to do with the administration being totally inept and not looking for answers because their choice of cabinet positions is not to find those qualified but to look good for the progressives. It is all about trump and it must be his fault.

Did you forget that one of the first thing Trump did when he became POTUS is roll back an Obama era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase weapons?

Trump signed that in February of 2017.

So yes, Trump deserves to be mentioned, especially since you brought up mental illness.

Trump made it easier for mentally ill people to purchase and use AR-15s - the weapons used to slaughter so many American school children.

What kind of sick, depraved country allows this to go on? And it IS THE REPUBLICANS who have allowed this to go on because they are beholden to the criminal organization NRA.

We have banned AR-15s in the past and we can do it again. It's the GOP and the NRA who have no problem with having American children and teens slaughtered by AR-15 weapons to the point where DNA needs to be used to identify who the children are.

The leading cause of death in America's children and teens is firearms. I will repeat that for those in the back. THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN AMERICA'S CHILDREN AND TEENS IS FIREARMS!

I am a mother and a grandmother and I am sickened by this carnage and by the spineless whimpering cowards of the GOP who allow this to go on and on and on and on.

America is broken.

Les Carpenter said...

Aside from the very likely truth that tRump himself. Is mentally ill.

Shaw Kenawe said...

"President Barack Obama recommended the now-nullified regulation in a 2013 memo following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which left 20 first graders and six others dead. The measure sought to block some people with severe mental health problems from buying guns.

Related: Assault Weapons Not Protected by Second Amendment, Federal Appeals Court Rules

The original rule was hotly contested by gun rights advocates who said it infringed on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. Gun control advocates, however, praised the rule for curbing the availability of firearms to those who may not use them with the right intentions."

Like the disturbed person who just slaughtered more children and adults in Nashville. Trump made it easier for that disturbed person to kill.

Grey One talks sass said...

skud sure sounds like they have TDS - the only person saying it's all Trumps fault is them!

Also, since it was the Republican Congress who blocked renewing the Assault Weapons ban in 2004 exactly how are both sides the same skud? Not waiting for an answer as they don't offer policy explanations but still...

As I see it, it's the Republicans who are banning books and drag queens, it's Republicans rolling back legislative protections for the LBGTQA population, who are telling little girls they can't discuss their bodies (periods are verboten - what's next? Sitting in the 'bleeders' tent?).

And skud nothing but innuendo of Biden making Cabinet hires based on minority status... Yeah, not a bigoted look at all skud! /s

Yes, our system is broken. The idea is sound enough but it's built on the idea that those who would choose to serve the nation would do so out of a sense of obligation, not as an opportunity to enrich themselves. Our highest punishment for crimes truly should be reserved for those who pervert our Constitution for their own purposes.

Of course I might be in a smite them mood too.

When your very existence (no rights except to be taxed, ain't that convenient!) is called into question, when the rights extended to everyone else (read white cishet male) are denied to yourself... well, then some humans are going to react. Honestly - when a person adds popcorn and oil to a pan no one is surprised when the kernels pop. Why is it any different now?

I stopped by one of uptheEndo's hate blogs and saw him posting fake news from right wing sites posting staged videos of Joe Biden. Those videos show faked right wing clips of Biden talking about chocolate chip ice cream, rather than quickly addressing the school massacre. But then again, right wing extremists will resort to hiring actors to stage anti Joe Biden propaganda to publish fake news for right wingers to swallow. The right wingers went several steps farther than expected: they sent those clips to Australia for right wing extremist news sites in Australia to make it a kangaroo news cast. UptheEndo posted it on his hate filled right wing extremist site Cleveland Foxers.

I wonder what other new lows will right wingers sink down to, in order to try stealing political offices in 2024 and beyond. We all know every seat the GOP occupies is stolen. What new low will they try to pull off to assassinate Joe Biden's family with, and other Democrats' families' reputations? I must admit grudgingly that their staged propaganda of using a fake Biden giving a news conference and rambling about chocolate chip ice cream can be convincing to braindead right wing extremists and maybe some on the fence, which makes it dangerous.

Thankfully the number of right wing hate filled extremists of the caliber you refer to Derv is comparably small compared to the more balanced minds in the DSA (Divided States of America.

The danger is really the number of folks, both republican and democratic leaning, that simply are too busy to pay attention to what's really going on. That and some simply vote the party that they've voted for years. Many straight party up and down the ticket. I believe, w/out proof, that republicans may be more inclined to that practice.

There is little question but what self serving republicans have done a much better job at using the system to further their own greedy self interests and the interests of greedy corporations and the criminal NRA.

How this will ever change i wish i knew. I do know if i wasn't 71 and much younger i'd be looking in the rear view mirror at the DSA.
