After the Atlantic published the texts this morning, Tulsi Gabbard is confronted today on why she lied in her testimony to the Senate yesterday. She says she misremembered. pic.twitter.com/rDlMopRgx7

Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, cannot remember details from a crucial meeting she attended about killing targets in Yemen from two weeks ago. In short, she doesn't recall seeing top-secret information shared with her on Signal, such as the time of the operation, the targets, the aircraft, and even the type of bombs the United States used to strike Yemen.
This is NOT acceptable. It's more likely she perjured herself.

Interesting strategy - choose worst possible cabinet with no understanding of their job. Then send in DEI (Dumb Elon Immediately) DOGE to fire the most important of their staff. Yep, interesting.
Trump values ass-kissing over competence and experience. We must never forget that he actually nominated Matt Gaetz, a pedophile known for his sex and drug parties while in Congress, as his first choice for Attorney General of the United States. And the saintly Mike "God chose me as the new Moses" Johnson said this about Trump's choice: "House Speaker Mike Johnson praised President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., as “an accomplished attorney.”
Mike Johnson is an ass-kisser extraordinaire!
Ass kissers and cat boxes, the "strengths" of the Felon's administration.
Resume for a Trump important appointment - 'I'm considered stupid and lazy,
but am ridiculously loyal and can bow and genuflect with spectacular grace'
"Hire that guy, and behead Ann Bolyen -whoever she is!"
Would be encouraging if government officials would be held accountable. If they knowingly lie to the American people they should be removed from their position no matter what that position is. The more important the position the bigger the punishment should be and in this case jail time would be appropriate.
Or perhaps deportation?
Bravo Skud, you believe someone should be held accountable. So how do we get there?
Normally that "holding accountable" stuff, in this case would be handled by the Inspector General of the DOD. Too bad that person was terminated two weeks in the Trump term by the president himself, a notorious avoider of ppl being held accountable.
But maybe the GOP controlled House can impeach Trump or... oops, I forgot, they see nothing wrong.
Well maybe the GOP controlled Senate can hold hearings on... oh yeah, they see nothing wrong either.
So you tell us Skud, how does the majority party, hold the majority party president and his incompetent cabinet accountable?
When they are afraid of him, his armed and previously shown to be violent supporters.
Oh my stars! The kids are really not happy. All their life they've listened to the rhetoric of how horrible The Left is, how they don't value Americans or our National Security only for those doing the lecturing to be the worst offenders of the lot. Kids are so unhappy that in the past months' elections seats flipped blue in what are solid red districts.
I am grateful today for the ever present filming of the kids for the kids and by the kids. Not all kids of course but enough to ensure WhiskeyLeaks won't be swept under the rug.
As for most of the olds? I don't know what happened to them. Their fire went out a long time ago leaving nothing but ashes.
There are some still roaring to go - you'll find them on Instagram, or at least that's where I find their voices. We may be old but that's only made us bold.
It would be encouraging if people like Skud STOPPED regurgitating the LIES from the Greedy Oligarch Party.
Dave, The issue you bring up is difficult to deal with. The good thing is no one died and hopefully a lesson was learned that will not happen again. Shouldn't the social rag and the reporter be held accountable as well?
I am sure the democrats will make all the noise they can with this but it will have a short half life. The good thing for them is the administration will always provide them with plenty of ammunition. Some day they will decide what their plans are and who their leader is but they still have over 18 months to get a policy.
I'm sure no one in the Trump Admin is lying about this texting "attack plans" kerfuffle, so maybe someone can help me understand things a little better.
After it was exposed that our Sec Def had texted attack plans, launch sites, locations and times on Signal, an unsecure texting service, much like WhatsApp, the President said he knew nothing about it.
Then he said it was the fault of a staffer from the office of Mike Waltz. Then he said he knew it was Waltz all along.
But the Sec Def and other GOP government officials keep saying it was the staffer, still unnamed who did it.
We've also been told by Trump, who said it was a staffer, before saying he knew Waltz did it, that this whole affair is a witch hunt. Sec Def Hegseth called it a hoax. For context, here's how "hoax" is defined.
"The meaning of HOAX is to trick into believing or accepting as genuine something false and often preposterous."
We might wish this affair was false, and preposterous. But it's not. This is simply another example of the Not Ready For Prime Time Admin Players trying to do something noble, right and maybe even needed, but screwing it up and stepping on their own feet.
Waltz even tried a new variation on the "I've been hacked by Twitter" dodge, claiming Goldberg's number had been miraculously "sucked" into the group text. If that's not "false and preposterous", nothing is.
All the while, Trump, Waltz and Hegseth, circling the wagons have decided the best defense is an attack offense, calling widely respected reporter J Goldberg "scum", a "sleaze bag" and "deceitful". I could be wrong, but this name calling seems like projection from the president and his happy go lucky staff.
Meanwhile, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard went all Sgt Schultz on us, not even remembering where she was when we attacked Yemen and claiming not to recall any details of the plan. Maybe she was not sucked into the group with Goldberg and never got the plans.
Finally, the only semi adult in the room, Marco Rubio was made to admit what the rest of the Gang Who Can't Shoot Straight is unable to do, plainly state the entire incident was a "Big Mistake".
In case you're wondering why what Rubio did was so difficult for the rest of that group, your answer will come after he's fired for being sentient, reasonably sane and forthcoming. All traits the Trump Admin loathes.
So skud believes that The Atlantic editor, Jeffrey Goldberg, should be "held accountable" for the gross incompetence of the Secy. of Defense? For what reason? For showing America how stupidly incompetent and worthy of court martialing Hegseth is?
Skud, you show us time and again that you are NOT politically independent, as you claim, because you carry water for the Trumpublican Party ALMOST ALL THE TIME. But this time is incomprehensible. Have you ever served in the military? I'm asking because members of my family have; and every single one of them have told me that what happened REQUIRES that honorable people should resign for the egregious FUBAR that happened because those in charge are incompetent. But THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION HAS NO HONOR, NOR HONORABLE PEOPLE, AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE AT THIS POINT.
You know who is truly, truly a political independent? Dave Miller. He calls out Dems and GOPers when they do stupid, illegal things. Not just once in a while, but ALL THE TIME, because he's honest. Be like Dave.
The Trump administration is not going to do anything about this breach in protocol and security because the Trump administration and the people who serve him are not honorable or competent.
In any other time, when America was an honorable country (that didn't bully our neighbors and allies and threaten them unless they bend to a president's will) those involved in this mess would have resigned.
Thank to Trump and his MAGA cult, the world does NOT see us as an honorable country. Our allies hate us and our enemies are delighted to see Trump destroying us.
Here's what's interesting. No one in the blogging world we inhabit is making a positive case in defense of the Trump Admin. No one is saying is answering the reality of their lies, saying this is no big deal or even blogging on it.
Are they unaware? Or is this so damaging to them, given their prior "Lock her up" statements, that they are in hiding?
No Mothership posts defending Trump, no comments saying Trump, Hegseth, Waltz, et al are not lying... nothing.
Interesting.
For the next 3 and 3/4 years, anytime the Trump regime gets caught lying, making dangerous blunders, or engaging in venal pursuits, they'll scream "HOAX" and "WITCH HUNT," because they're weak, indecent people. IMO
Rick Wilson @therickwilson.bsky.social
The fact that the Department of Justice has not, and will never, launch an investigation into this massive national security breach tells you all you need to know about this lawless and profoundly corrupt Administration.
Ms. Shaw, David has some independent leanings on occasion but I wouldn't go so far as to categorize him as an independent, no offense Dave. He is not a rabid leftist but bends sharply left.
Si it is your belief that the rag didn't jeopardize American lives by publishing a discussion they shouldn't be on.
Someone should get fired for this and it should be waltz but it won't be. It will be someone in the copy room who will be thrown to the wolves and everything will go on as before.
The good thing is no one died like the Afghanistan disaster because of poor decisions or incompetent people, who got punished for that massive blunder, not the party in charge.
We have over 3 1/2 years to go on the hate trump tour and it will be a long road. I still say shoulda voted Nikki or the dems shoulda voted someone else.
SKUD: "Si it is your belief that the rag didn't jeopardize American lives by publishing a discussion they shouldn't be on."
How would the editor of The Atlantic be jeopardizing American lives by publishing Hegseth's incompetence weeks after the fact?
In fact, Goldberg was more responsible than the whole gang on that call, since he did not publish the name of the CIA asset mentioned in their discussions. He took care to protect that person's life, unlike the Secy. of Defense, the DNI, and others who were on a public app. By exposing their careless use of a public and easily hackable communication app, Jeffrey Goldberg probably SAVED lives.
Senator Blumenthal: "The break down in security is so jaw-dropping, but equally so the reaction that, 'well, nothing to be worried about here.' It's a little bit like saying the drunk driver was never at risk because he made it home okay, so nothing to see here."
Belle of the Ranch has an interesting take on why the reporter from the Atlantic was included in the text group but not a representative from the Navy, the branch of the military doing the heavy lifting on this little operation. I do love people who openly declare their admiration of the Sherlock Holmes book o' logic.
With all the deferring and covering and can't remembering I'm getting a huge sinking feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Their body language is screaming at me, so much so that I can't watch them without wanting to do to them what they've told me they want to do to me.
So I turned it off. Watch the podcasts I trust, work on art, and taking extra mental health classes as it seems Medicaid will be going through some things soon.
PS - I know this DOJ won't pursue any legal action against the gang that can't text correct. I get it. It's the protection of the law for thee and enforcement of the law for me.
Shaw, I concur. Goldberg acted in accordance with the Constitution, aka a patriot. Still, he's in for a long road. The MAGA faithful are target fixated and his face is reflected in their eyes.
Goldberg was invited by mistake. Maybe next time scud will get an invite?
"Rag."
Skud can't help himself from emulating Trump's fascistic demeaning of a historic and reputable source of journalism. This is his authoritarian personality on display.
What's really appalling is the fact Skud doesn't even care to READ it!! Just demean it, like a fascist would.
Dube, No I can't say I have ever read it. I am sure you find it a great magazine but it is too elitist for me.
Ms. Shaw, If it was reported way after the fact I guess there is no harm no foul.
Grey, I do agree that the DOJ will not pursue this because the president is their boss and he will not take action. There was a lot of this non-action over the past four years because of the same reason.
I guess some simply prefer to remain ignorant rather than to analyze and ultimately accept truth. It's easier for them to just blow kisses to their Felo Fuhrer and support the lies and propaganda his administration spews daiy.
OMG skud! Facts are too elitist for them. And they said this - had to think about what to type and everything "There was a lot of this non-action over the past four years because of the same reason."
Right skud. The ONLY inaction taken by the Biden admin DOJ was to to prosecute the author and leader of the coup attempt on Jan 6, 2021. You really sucked down the revisionist history didn't you. Stopped clock is occasionally correct but everything else you write skud is absolute propagandist crap.
Wow
And before you say Hunter Biden's pardon, that didn't happen until the very last second. For months and months there were trials, grand juries, press conferences, special council, and so much more so yeah, no action there according to you skud. (heaviest inflection of sarcasm imagined. it could even be.... plaid sarcasm H/T Spaceballs)
