Sunday Night Funnies

The President-elect of the United States of America, instead of attending to the crucial and important business of finding people to fill the thousands of vacancies from the outgoing administration, actually took the time to watch the Saturday Night Live cold open satire of Trump's incoming administration. Not liking what he saw, Trump had a hissy fit, complained about the satire, and demanded equal time.

This prissy little cry-baby shows America and the world every day what a ridiculous little man he is because he can't take criticism or satire about himself, unlike every other president in this country's history.

Continuing with his idea that he should be granted special dispensation from enduring actual criticism, the man-child Trump expects, what? Equal time to go on a teevee show to tell America and the world that the SNL actors and producers are meanie meanies to him? Does this little man need a safe place so his fee-fees won't be hurt? Y'know, with "trigger warnings" so that his fragile ego will not suffer the slings and arrows of his outrageous fortune?

Trump signed up for and broke every rule to get to be the POTUS. Now he must man-up to what that means. Trump may need to take some instruction from a manly man, Barack Hussein Obama, who's leaving that office on January 20, 2017, and who for 8 years endured, with grace and dignity, every slur, smear, and slander the rabid right threw at him, and not just from satirical productions on teevee and other media, but from the very man who hopes to fill Mr. Obama's very big shoes. For years and years, Trump smeared our first African-American president by trying to delegitimize his presidency over a trumped-up birth certificate slur. Had Trump faced the same onslaught of malignant lies and defamation, he would have disintegrated into a puddle of blubbering oily foam. His petulant complaint over a mild little comedy skit confirms this.

The only way to fight a thin-skinned bully is to continue to ridicule him.

Jason Easley:

A slight comedic jab at  the President-Elect brought a chilling reply from Trump on Twitter:

Follow Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump I watched parts of @nbcsnl Saturday Night Live last night. It is a totally one-sided, biased show - nothing funny at all. Equal time for us? 8:26 AM - 20 Nov 2016

There are several problems with Trump’s tweet. What is the President-elect doing monitoring Saturday Night Live? He is supposed to be preparing for the most challenging job on Earth. He or his staff should not be wasting a second of their time on a late night comedy show.

The bigger problem is that the incoming Trump administration has open disdain for the First Amendment. There is no Fairness Doctrine, thanks to Republicans. If a Fairness Doctrine did exist, it would not cover comedy and satire. Donald Trump is not entitled to equal time because he thinks that Saturday Night Live was mean to him. That isn’t how the First Amendment works in any way, shape, or form.

Here's the SNL video. Watch it and laugh!

Trump will be spending all his time on twitter if he cannot take criticism. Of course the media loves it. It is great "click bait". I think Trump loves it too because it deflects the real news of the weekend being that he settled the Trump U lawsuits essentially confessing that he is guilty. I say he is eligible for impeachment even before he is sworn in as president. I mean, he is the worst president ever before even being president.

Yes,Jerry. He's President $25million Fraud Suit. Never in our American history has any president elect faced fraud charges, and then had to pay up. What an embarrassment for this country.

Apparently not for millions. Rather than an embarrassment he is looked upon as a "real" man who will get "things" done by flexing his muscle. Thereby Making America Great Again.

His appointments, Bannon, Sessions, Priebus etc are/will be seen as spectacularly brilliant selections. All because fear and uncertainty are the engines driving events and Trump is manipulating them to his advantage.

We may very well be looking at America's longest winter...

Now that most of the votes have been counted, we've found that Hillary won the popular vote by 1.5 million votes. More from NPR:

“Several million voters didn’t come out to vote,” Becker said. “Which is telling me that this idea of the Trump wave, a huge number of voters shifting over to Trump, is certainly not the story.”

Nationally, the number of people who voted for Trump were only slightly ahead of those who supported the last Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, in 2012.

But Becker said that while turnout in purple states like Florida and Pennsylvania had a slight uptick this year, at least 19 other states saw lower turnout rates compared with 2012, a scenario that is antithetical to presidential-year voting that tends to increase each cycle when an incumbent is not a part of the race.

According to Becker, turnout rates dropped by 1.3 percent in Iowa, 3 percent in Wisconsin and nearly 4 percent in Ohio in 2016, a combination that became a death knell for Clinton’s presidential hopes in areas where Obama performed well during his two terms.

Fourteen states installed new restrictive voting laws, which have historically targeted minorities, before the 2016 election, including in Wisconsin and Ohio. And this general election was the first since the Supreme Court struck down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act in 2013 that required federal approval on any state election law.

Neil Albrecht, executive director of the Milwaukee Election Commission, said voter identification laws hurt turnout in the city’s high-poverty districts this month, noting that 41,000 fewer people voted there in 2016 than in 2012.

Charges are not proven facts. It is just like the defeated -H- and all of the charges against her, they have yet to be proven so they are not facts.

If someone criticized BHO for his horrible policies and weak economic recovery and attack on the middle class they were not stating an opinion or fact, they were racist. Now with two weeks in, the transition is a disaster and DJT is appointing people who are racist, homophobic and unqualified. BHO took far longer and appointed valarie to be queen of the hill, holder as the gun runner and had a son who was a thug.

Now we hear how popular BHO is, even more popular than the great Reagan. Of course this is compiled by the same pollsters who predicted an overwhelming -H- victory in total votes and EC.

As of today, Clinton leads Trump by 1.8 million votes. She will have won the popular vote by over 2 million votes by the end of the week and will have won by a staggering 2 percentage points. In 2012, Trump stated that the electoral college was a travesty to democracy. Of course, in 2016, Trump thinks that the electoral college is the best thing since the last time he groped a woman for being tremendously beautiful.

Skud, do you ever desire to enter into a real conversation, or is it all about snark?

This was on Mike Pence's website when he ran successfully for Congress in 2000:

Pence wrote: "Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage." And "Congress should oppose any effort to recognize homosexual’s [sic] as a 'discreet [sic] and insular minority' entitled to the protection of anti-discrimination laws similar to those extended to women and ethnic minorities."

Jeff Sessions, the incoming chief law enforcement officer of the USA. Class, eh?

"Transcripts of the hearing also show that J. Gerald Hebert, who was a Justice Department lawyer, also testified that Sessions told him the NAACP and ACLU were "un-American" and "Communist-inspired."

"Hebert also testified that Sessions said a white attorney who represented black clients might be a disgrace and that the NAACP and ACLU did more harm than good by trying to force civil rights "down the throats of people."

The least qualified man for the presidency (the voters' opinion) became the president by the Electoral College.

Hillary won the popular vote; Trump won the technical vote

Dave Miller: The purpose of trolling a blog is to make the blogger and other commenters expend time and energy responding to the troll comments, time and energy which they will then not have available for constructive purposes. The most effective way to do this is to throw out a bunch of accusations and snark and innuendo that take no thought to produce, but a lot of energy to respond to. It doesn't matter how nonsensical they are, nor does "real conversation" serve the troll's purpose -- look at any case where a troll seems to be responding to a reply to him and you'll see it's actually more of the same, more provocative junk designed to cause more waste of energy refuting it.

Don't think of it as an attempt at dialog. It's not. Think of it as a repeated infection designed to wear down the immune system.
