Wednesday is Trump Hump Day

The Goopers are demanding that the majority of Americans who did NOT vote for Trump respect the fact that Trump is now the POTUS-elect.

I hear that. And our message to the Goopers is that we will give trump exactly the same level of respect that they gave Mr. Obama.  IIRC, less than three months into President Obama's administration, the TeaPublicans were screaming, "I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!"

Also, Mr. Obama won with a popular vote count higher than any other president had received since the election of President Eisenhower. A decisive win; a mandate, even. But the Goopers vowed on the night of President Obama's election to obstruct and sabotage anything the new president proposed in his new administration. And so they did.

More Americans voted for Hillary than voted for Trump. That doesn't change the fact that he won the election, but it should give the Goopers pause. Trump does not have a majority of Americans on his side; he is a minority president, whose first action as POTUS-elect was to appoint an anti-Semite and White Supremacist as his Chief Strategist.

And now we've heard that Speaker Paul Ryan is set to dismantle Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, and then he's going after Social Security.

That's how this repulsive, know-nothing POTUS-elect will make America great again!

Behold our classless P.G.-elect*:

The failing @nytimes story is so totally wrong on transition. It is going so smoothly. Also, I have spoken to many foreign leaders.

Has anyone ever heard a more juvenile reaction from a future POTUS? trump will not become "presidential" after January 20th, he'll continue to be the WATB man-child that he is.

*PG-elect = Pussy Grabber-elect.

Shaw... our mistake was in thinking GOP partisans care about actual facts, the truth and governing.

They showed their hand with the strategy towards Pres Obama. Obstruct it all. Do you think for a minute they support that strategy now?

When Obama with almost 10 million and a ton of electoral votes more than the GOP, they never agreed he had a mandate? Why now? Because their guy won?

Rubbish...

Wasn't it Obama who said I won you didn't so accept that knowledge from the leader. Of course he also said I will fight for comprehensive immigration reform and Reagan changed the political landscape.
Follow your leaders advise and accept the results.

Dave, no matter what the GOP puts out there, Trump does NOT have a mandate. Not when Hillary may have won 2 million more votes than he did.

I wonder if the economically stressed people who thought Trump would usher in a change like the fact that the GOP is now set on getting rid of the safety nets they depend on: Medicaid, Medicare, the ACA, and Social Security. All of those are now in the TeaPublicans' crosshairs. They are out to fundamentally change America so that it resembles a third world country.

No one with any brains believes the Goopers will set up anything that will provide a safety net for the poor and disadvantaged once they destroy Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, and Social Security. They don't believe government has any responsibility in helping those who cannot help themselves. They believe religious organizations and charities will provide the money for people who are hit with catastrophic illnesses and accidents. In a country of 340 million people, that is ludicrous in the extreme. But the people who believe that also elected THE MOST LUDICROUS person to lead America.

BTW, another one of trump's pledges while he was running was that he would not touch Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. He's flipped on that pledge as well.

A liar is a liar is a liar.

Shaw... we can't say if he has flipped on entitlements because he hasn't anything yet. If and when that happens, you can bet people will be rightfully howling.

Regarding the ACA, I've had a little back and forth with Silverfiddle over at another blog. He says the GOP will not repeal the ACA until they have a replacement ready. When questioned about why he would think that when to date they've only ever voted for repeal and no replacement, he demurs...

The ACA issue will be interesting to watch. Will the GOP really take health care insurance away from millions just to score political points with their base?

President Donald Trump. I'm still trying to get a handle on that. He wasn't even aware he had to hire staff for the White House and reportedly does not plan to live there full time.

Honestly I cannot wait for the first full blown press conference, if he is able to man up and face them head on. That's going to be appointment viewing, hime being such a big fan of openness, specificity and the scrutiny that he will experience.

"Trump begins in worse shape than any of these leaders. The improbability of his victory is leading to its overestimation. He won the Electoral College, but he lost the popular vote. His party kept the House and the Senate but lost seats in both. He’ll take office with the lowest approval rating of any American president since the advent of polling."

tRump will get my respect as presidentWhen He EARNS it. Every early indication is he will fail to do so, YUUUGELY.

tRUMP is a loose canon and he may possibly explode America as we've known it all to hell. It's good to be older in America, at lesst we've seen its better days.

Dave, here's where I read about Trump's flip-flop on Medicare (It's from Josh Marshall's Talking Point Memo, a reliable source that's been in business since, I believe, 2005):

Trump Comes Out for Medicare Phaseout

Jon Cohn, one of the best, probably the best health care policy journalist out there, flags that Trump has flipped on phasing out Medicare. As Jon notes here, back in the spring Trump said he wouldn't touch Medicare or Social Security. But his new transition website says he'll support the Ryan Phaseout plan.

Only in America can a billionaire who inherited millions, lives atop his own
hotel and didn't pay a penny in income taxes for 10 years get the votes of people desperate for jobs, sick of the growing wealth disparity and struggle to live
(but DO pay their taxes) win an electoral majority. And have them cheer when
he announces cuts in taxes for the wealthy and corporations and cuts in the safety net of his followers. I was explaining to my wife that the Trump followers also
really hate to be called stupid. She replied "but they ARE"

BB-Idaho, there's no other explanation for people who just voted for a man who during the campaign said he wouldn't touch Medicare or Medicaid, and now is ready to get rid of both at the bidding of Randian Ryan. This is going to happen. Think of the number of unfortunate and desperate people before the election. Now think about how Trump and his goons will add to their desperation when he takes away their safety net. The majority of Americans did not vote for this monster, but he's going to do unimaginable damage to their lives.

The idiots who spent the last 8 years screaming about how Obama is destroying the country have put in office a human wrecking ball. And they're the ones who will get wrecked first.

The rich in this country will not suffer. In fact, they'll do better than they did under Obama.

NOTE:

AS of November 7, Real Clear Politics had Trump's unfavorable ratings at 60%. A YUUUUUGE majority dislike the Short-Fingered Vulgarian.

Suck it up, Buttercup.

Ray, Trump IS a prissy little buttercup. He's been tweeting like a junior high school mean girl since he won the presidency. It is hilarious how immature and vindictive the little sugar plum is.

What a national embarrassment he is.

Didn't Trump also say that he would release his tax returns if he was elected?

The Truth said...

NO, he said after the audit

NO, he said after the audit

Trump's been under audits since 2002. It's his excuse not to let the American people know what a tax cheat is or the fact that he's probably in debt up to his orange chin to Russian financiers, bigly.

There is nothing stopping him from releasing his taxes during an audit. Nothing.

Trump probably is hiding something very bad. Why else would he object to doing what every presidential candidate has done for the last 40 years.

Trump's probably a tax cheat and liar. Well, not probably a liar. We know he is the biggest liar of the 2016 presidential campaign.
