Absolutely LOVE Gene Kelly! I was living in a group house when I first moved to the DC area and I was watching the AFI Salute to Gene Kelly in 1985. My roommate brought a friend over and later my roommate said his friend got a kick out of watching me watch the program as I was so animated in talking about his dancing skills. Then I became good friends with someone who went to high school with Gene Kelly's son, Timothy Kelly, in Los Angeles. My friend went to a party at his house when Gene was out and snuck around looking in different rooms and found a bathroom with about three different toupees pinned on Styrofoam heads. I was a bit disillusioned.
I used to carpool with a guy who as a boy, used to play with Gene Kelly's son. He has a story about the time he left his wallet at the Kelly's, and his father took him back to get it. When he rang the door bell and Gene Kelly answered the door, his father was shocked. He had no idea who his son had been friends and was playing with. Sorry, I can't remember all the details except that he had lived at the time in either the Jamaica or Forest Hill part of Queens and they had been schoolmates.

Thanks, but possumlady got there first... I found it surprising that we both knew someone who knew Gene's son. Weird!
He still had it, even at 68.
