Putin wants his puppet back in power. He knows enough Americans are too stupid and duped to fathom the reality that Putin does NOT want what's best for America.

Now the US faces a threat from both foreign and domestic enemies of our democracy and Constitution in the Republican, Trump, and Putin Axis of Evil.

Even with Trump out of the picture, enough Republicans are under the influence of Putin over America and will continue to be a grave danger.

My biggest concern should Trump regain the presidency (and trust me, I'm doing all I can to stop the Nazi's from assuming control of anything bigger than a lemonade stand) is if he gets all this money to address all his appeals, who will he work for when it's all said and done?

I thought politicians had standards they had to meet, I thought the point of releasing the tax returns was to show the candidate was free from outside influence

But you are fine allowing someone who has never run anything run the country. The very powerful anti-trump-mob decided that he should not be allowed to run a business in NYC because he lied about his commercial property's wort and allowed no one to lose anything.

I wish he would just go back to private life but his ego will not allow that to happen. We can do a lot better

"But you are fine allowing someone who has never run anything run the country."

Biden knows how government works. And, dammit skud, you know that Biden has accomplished more in his 4 years as president than Trump, who claimed he'd run the country like he ran his businesses -- most of Trump businesses FAILED. And you know that. Also, Trump cheated and lied while ran his businesses. You also know that he stiffed many small business owners because he knew they couldn't afford the lawyers to go after him for the money he owed them.

You even admit "he lied about his commercial property's worth." That's against the law. Apparently you're not at all concerned that Trump, for years and years, cheated and got away with cheating people out of what they were owed.

So you're FOR breaking the law so long as no one "loses anything?" You think that's okay?

Explain that to the people who broke the law when anti-marijuana laws were in effect and went to jail. No one "LOST" ANYTHING when people smoked weed in the privacy of their own homes, or carried an ounce of it in their pockets. BUT THEY BROKE THE LAW and were thrown in jail.

Where were you defending them, because "no one lost anything?"

Your defense of what Trump did is anti-law. I'm surprised to learn this about you, because, as a conservative, I thought you'd be for law and order.

And the law doesn't care whether or not someone loses anything when you break it.

Trump doesn't care about our democratic laws or traditions. He believes he's above the law and tells his cultists lies, which they eat up because they NEED to believe him.

There's an obvious reason for Trump to not want his tax returns exposed.

I never thought in my lifetime I'd see this happen in America. Never.

What the hell, nothing lasts forever, including governments.

Our three biggest problems, all of which Trump and his cultist supporters and the gop experience in spades, are ignorance, greed, and fear. Not necessarily in that order.

Fearful ignorant people respond to their ignorance and fear in ways determined by their ego. In other words their main concern is how they "feel" they can best protect their own desires and interests. Even when reason and logic clearly prove that what they "believe" is simply untrue or unworkable.

Like a religionist, you can never convince a cultist that their "beliefs" are not the true reality. Nor can you get them to even consider another possible alternative.

Reified beliefs or belief systems are an obstacle to science, progress, and a more inclusive, undertanding, compassionate, and loving society. Especially when the belief or belief system others and demonizes certain groups of people.

And that folks is the direct path Trump and the gop are poised to once again take the nation down. Only this time, if they get the chance, life for the majority of us will take a sharp turn for the worse. Trump has promised retribution and his willing gop sheeple with hop to their Fuhrer's demands if ever they have a chance.

Just rewatched an interview of GOP Representative Gloria Tenney on the Fox show Mornings with Maria. Rep Tenney is emphatic that President Biden must be impeached, that the threshold for high crimes and misdemeanors has been met. When Maria pressed her on the merits, oh, the deflection is a master class of 'what's that?'

Back on topic Rep Tenney said they wouldn't be where they are today without the testimony of the whistleblowers, humans whose 'testimony' and credibility has been debunked by arrests, lies uncovered, and testimony for personal gain.

Rep Tenney also said "Imagine the evidence we could have if the DOJ didn't prevent us from getting the evidence we need." And then in another clip she claims the Bidens are guilty of influence peddling and says "If we had the evidence we could prove it".

Um, what?

If the committees in charge of the Biden "crime family as skud likes to call it" doesn't have the evidence they need after 15 months and countless subpoenas resulting in the defense submitting thousands upon thousands of pages of emails, bank records, and other data, well, they have nothing.

As I was told years ago by a precursor to the MAGA troll when talking about the crimes of Hillary Clinton, if she would just confess we would know how to charge her. Almost comforting that the basic logic hasn't changed much. Almost.

We've watched this movie before. Unless We The People use our most powerful tool in our civic arsenal (the right to vote) We will repeat it and will never have to worry about voting again, so there is that.

This election I'm voting blue no matter who. And for skud who demands better choices, well, what are you doing to ensure better choices are available for the future? Based on some of the comments you've left lately any sense of being moderate by you has vanished to reveal your real self. Honestly, it's not a great look skud. And I'm going to bet you aren't as uncomfortable with the concept of dictatorship as you'd like to admit as long as the dictator is someone you agree with, am I right? (yep, not only ascribed words but philosophies and thoughts to an imaginary you skud. You've done it to me and others on this site so many times that I figured turn around is fair play. You're welcome)

Honestly I am afraid because this is something quite unlike anything I've read about in the history of our country. It is not an unfamiliar topic when reviewing world history. We just have to face the paradoxical idea that We The People do not have to tolerate the intolerant. Don't like Gay Marriage, don't get married to a gay person (unless you are gay and want to). Don't like abortion? Don't get one, but also don't tell others that they have to do what you would do.

We are Free to Be You and Me (or that was the song back in the day) It's time We The People remember that.

We now understand that skud is okay with people who break the law, as long as no one loses anything.

Reminder: when someone goes into a bank and passes a note to the teller that says "hand over all the money," but the cops show up and grab the would-be thief before he/she gets the money, that person still gets arrested for ATTEMPTED robbery. The bank didn't lose anything, any money, but the INTENT was to commit a crime.

Apparently, skud would be okay with that person getting off the hook because "nothing was lost."

What the MAGAt's preferred social order actually is... Anarchy.

Anything goes and the one with the most muscle is the law.

Ms. Shaw, Very impassioned post and I agree that biden understands how government works because that is all he has done is sit in government. As to his massive accomplishments like doubling the price of gas and "creating" millions of part time jobs if you consider those accomplishments then that is your option.
The other part about illegal activities that harm no one we seem to agree. Make all drugs legal and that will reduce crime. Legalize prostitution so those that choose can make a living. After all is it is legal to cross into the country in mass why not just make everything legal.

Dave Dubya said...

I'm sure we'd be met with silence if we asked Skud to explain Biden's "doubling the price of gas".

Did he request a price hike from Big Oil? NO!

Does Skud know Trump DID just that? Probably not.

He can abandon facts and reason as quickly as Trump supporters. No thinking, no evidence, and no facts are required for this zombie cult mentality.

What's next? "Biden is responsible for the Key bridge tragedy"?

Another characteristic Skud shares with MAGA is the inability or unwillingness to explain their assertions or answer questions.

And this is exactly the mentality that abets fascism.

Grey One talks sass said...

skud, you say "... biden understands how government works because that is all he has done is sit in government." as if that is a bad thing. Government in and of itself has it's own ways of doing things. Thank you for recognizing President Biden's skill set at doing his job.

Gas prices, really? Because the president has absolute power over the Saudi's.

Oops, wait, that would have been the losing former guy of whom you say you don't support and yet to this date I've not witnessed you call out any of the horrible things he's done.

As for your last statement which I believe you are trying for "humor" and "sarcasm", neither which you posses as either a skill or a talent skud-arooni.

skud said "Make all drugs legal and that will reduce crime. Legalize prostitution so those that choose can make a living. After all is it is legal to cross into the country in mass why not just make everything legal."

Several nations have decriminalized all drugs with more success than the USA in controlling drug addiction. I'm all for it as long as safeguards are in place, such as no kids, no public intoxication, and other guidelines adopted by other nations with the same goal - reducing the fallout from addiction.

As for sex work - I know several well adjusted sex workers who would love for their chosen profession to be legal. After all, sex is a skill just as typing or factory work and should be rewarded financially. That said, sex trafficking is real so I'd want safeguards for this liberating legalization to ensure those who are in the business because they want to be in the business, not because they were forced into it.

Not sure that was your point skud, but you opened the door and I ran with it. Thanks.

As for your last statement "After all is it is legal to cross into the country in mass why not just make everything legal." Where do you get your ideas? I ask because you come off as an OAN/NewMax watching, liddle Marco Rubio following sycophant.

I'm all for incorporating work visas upon arrival for immigrants along with a clearly marked path to citizenship. I'd say the path needs to be difficult but based on videos I watched over the weekend of (many, oh so many) citizens failing basic civics questions, whatever test an immigrant has to take makes them miles ahead of many who were born here.

I know what you intended skud. I'm ignoring your intentions and taking you literally. You're welcome.

Shaw, I used to think the law was the law, applicable to everyone. That changed. Now I know there isn't one or two levels of law but many depending on ones' bank balance and political clout.

We The People need to get back to one law for everyone if our great democratic experiment is to succeed. Otherwise we are a monarchy pretending to be a democracy.

Les - I'm not sure about MAGAT's and Anarchy.

Theocracy where those who are in control get to do whatever they want - I see that as more accurate because trust me, low level MAGAT's might be able to do what they want to nonMAGAT's but when it comes to fellow MAGAT's, especially those with power, well, the pecking order prevails and those at the top peck hard!

Les Carpenter said...

Perhaps you're right. The anarchy, if it happens will come later. Once they realize it is they who is responsible for wanting to give the "deep state" total dictatorial control.

Dube, Price of gas Jan 2021 2.42 Mar 2022 4.32, Mar 24 3.43. Did he ask for the hike in price, no but shutting down drilling and a pipeline sure doesn't help.

I feel confident the bridge issue is in good hands because mayor pete is going to visit and he is an expert.

Grey, Actually you are wrong again about what I believe. I think the number one issue with crime today is a significant amount of crime is committed to pay for drugs. Make all of them legal, bring down the cost and reduce crime to pay for them.

Prostitution should be legal and take the stigma and penalty away from workers reporting abuse. A significant amount of sex trafficking is occurring because of our open border policy and it is making the cartels a fortune. A legal path to citizenship would be a step in the right direction but unless we replace congress with reasonable and competent people that just won't happen.

Ms Shaw, You pose an interesting situation because prices are based cost of goods and on supply and demand. Since the US produces an abundance of oil as compared to demand what has changed. Could it be his first actions was to shut down a pipeline and push approval of a russian pipeline. Could it be the administrations statement that they are going to shut down the oil industry. Could it be that they will spend billions developing and promoting EV's that are not accepted and not fund advances in gasoline powered vehicles. I am a big advocate of hybrid vehicles because they make sense but that is not something the administration supports. Could it be that there is increased regulations aimed at the O&G industry. My guess is it is all of the above.
