*Snort, Snort*

UPDATE BELOW

The great Charlie Pierce:
TRUMP: OK, let me ask you this, just -- and we're doing this in a very friendly manner. It doesn't help for me to take a vote in the House where I will win easily with the Republicans.
PELOSI: You will not win.
Loser.
As I said, this was a notable exchange only in that it happened among American politicians. There are exchanges overseas that make this sound like a Sunday school chorale. But that's what makes it all the more compelling. It happened here, and in the White House, and in the president*'s face. Fundamentally, this was mockery, and eminently well-deserved. And, in case anyone, including the president*, missed the point, Pelosi was more than happy to sharpen it for him. From Politico:
Pelose: “It’s like a manhood thing with him — as if manhood can be associated with him,” she deadpanned. “This wall thing.”
Deadpanned. Emphasis on "dead."

GURRRRRRRRRRRRRL!  You go Nancy!  You are savvier and so much smarter than "Individual 1 !"

UPDATE:

A reporter just revealed Trump threw things in childish tantrum after meeting with Pelosi and Schumer

“He stormed out of the Oval, walked into an anteroom just off the Oval Office and had in his hand a folder of briefing papers. And he just scattered them out of frustration — threw them across the room,” Stokols said on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” according to his own discussions with White House officials.

According to Stokols, Trump was particularly peeved with his fellow New Yorker Senator Schumer whom the president realized out-witted him by shrewdly getting Trump to bear full responsibility for any government shutdown over the president’s insistence on fully funding the border wall that he promised that Mexico would pay for during his campaign.

While out-witting Trump may not be a particularly difficult task, getting the notoriously finger-pointing president to actually accept responsibility for anything at all that doesn’t involve stroking his gargantuan ego is an accomplishment that should qualify both Schumer and Pelosi for some type of award.

Other news sources say that at least some of Trump’s anger has been directed at his own Vice President, whose silence during the meeting led some wags to speculate that Pence was too busy closing his eyes to pray his way out of the room in an early rapture to contribute to the conversation."

And Trump thought he had a hard time with Paul Ryan. He has no idea what he's going to be up against now.

I think Pelosi just quelled any last lingering doubts about making her Speaker.

I don't have a link, but watch the entire conversation of Pelosi, Trump, Schumer, and Silent Pence. The most striking thing is that both Schumer and Trump interrupt Pelosi repeatedly. Near the end, Pelosi talked about how they all care about border security, they should go have a fact-based discussion, that each one of them took the oath of office to protect the country. Trump was nodding, yes, yes, yes. The meeting should have ended right there, get up, shake hands, and agree to meet again on the fact-based details as to how to best protect the border. I thought, "excellent! People are going to talk." (yes, my liberal friends, I know you don't believe Trump would ever talk with anybody, but hang in with me, that is not what this comment is about. It's about sexism and how Schumer is no better than Donald effing Trump).

So anyway, we should have a nice ending of the meeting right there, but NOOOOOO! Chuck effing Schumer has to get the last word and poke the bear. The Male Trump responded in kind and the two of them huffed and puffed and blew the house down. Pelosi is like WTF.

Every woman in this country deals with this shit on a daily basis. Screw Schumer.

Infidel753 and Erin, This is from Mike Littwin of The Colorado Independent:

"Maybe Trump was trying for an ambush or maybe he just wanted to prove he hasn’t lost his reality-TV chops. But by the time it was over, Pelosi had mocked Trump to his face and challenged him to a vote in the House on the Mexican-border wall — which she assured him he would lose — while Schumer mocked Trump for the poor GOP midterm showing and had gotten so far under Trump’s skin that the president blurted out, for all to hear, that if he didn’t get his way, he would shut down the government.

In other words, Trump took ownership of any possible shutdown, which must have made Mitch McConnell’s day. And why would he do this? Because he was being publicly challenged, and, well, he freaked. Or as Pelosi privately told fellow Democrats of the wall, knowing her words would soon leak: “It’s like a manhood thing with him — as if manhood can be associated with him.”

Trump, meanwhile, hit back at Pelosi for her problems holding on to the speaker’s gavel. He took a dig at Schumer for losing a couple of Senate seats. (Schumer, in an aside to the cameras, said: “When the president brags that he won North Dakota and Indiana, he’s in real trouble.”)

Welcome to the future. With the House under Democratic control beginning in January and the Senate holding on to the filibuster, this little meeting is what the next two years could look like for Trump. I mean, it’s bad enough he’s got Mueller playing Javert. Now he’s got Pelosi and Schumer (yes, even Chuck Schumer) up in his face.

I’m guessing that those House Democrats who don’t think Pelosi is up to the job any more — see: Perlmutter, Ed; Crow, Jason — may have lost a little momentum in their effort to unseat her."

Also "Wonkette," which is always outrageous:

Can Somebody Hold Nancy Pelosi's Beer While She Dick-Punches Trump Some More?

Some Democrats are so stupid. During the midterm campaigns they were all “we need to get rid of Pelosi! She’s too old and a drag on the Democrats...just look at all the Republican ads mentioning her name!!” Well, fellow Democrats, yesterday was proof that the Republicans were and are scared of her. No Republican would ever vote for her so why should we care what they say in their ads. She’s smart, effective and doesn’t take sh&t from anyone.

You said it perfectly, possumlady. The more the Goopers denigrate Nancy, the more we understand how frightened they aare of her. She showed her true grit yesterday. And President Raindrop folded like a wet carbord box in front of her and the country.

The Mother Ship of Fools are all whining about how the media attacks tRump ever chance they get. Did those WATBs foget that tRump calls the media "the enemy of the people," and that encourages mentally unstable people to try to kill the "enemy?" What a bunch of unevolved suck-ups. tRump sez nothing about a butchered American resident and reporter for the Washington Post and continues to support the butcher who ordered the murder. And the WATBs at the Mother Ship of Fools complain that the press isn't fair to tRump? tRumps favorite base really is the poorly educated.

The idiocy of Lord Dampnut's base (seen on a rabid far right blog):

Presiden"t Trump: “Most of the Democrats, It’s Hard to Believe, Want Open Borders”

ANOTHER TRUMPIAN FKING LIE!

"Democrats Can’t Find $5 Billion for Border Wall But Gifted Iranian Regime with $5.7 Billion and Pallet of Cash"

THIS IS AN OLD, OLD FAR RIGHT IDIOCY. THOSE BILLIONS BELONGED TO IRAN AND HAD BEEN FROZEN.BUT THE RIGHTIES ARE TOO STUPID TO RESEARCH THE TRUTH SO THEY CONTINUE TO BELIEVE A FKING LIE!

"Trump Says Military Will Build Border Wall if Democrats Refuse Funding"

THAT WILL NEVER, NEVER HAPPEN! Anyway tRump PROMISED that Messico would pay for the wall!!!! The idiots on the far right never mention that little detail.

"And the Dems' after party: Pelosi brings up Trump 'manhood,' says meeting with him was like 'tinkle contest' with skunk."

WHY WOULD NANCY BRING UP TRUMP'S "MANHOOD?" HE DOESN'T HAVE ONE, UNLESS YOU COUNT A MUSHROOM AS "MANHOODD"!

There's so much here...

But let me respond to Possum.

I am one that believes that the Dems have to get younger leadership. Somehow. I think the Dems are almost guilty of malpractice for not getting some younger ppl in the leadership team the last 4-6 years. Nancy can still get the job done, but look at the Sr leadership in the party. Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, Cummings, Biden? Not a single leader under 60 in the group.

Unless and until the Dems realize that one of the jobs of leaders is to identify and train the next generation of leaders, and then give them responsibility, we're gonna be in trouble.

Couldn't Pelosi and the rest of the aging House team have taken a couple of folks under their wings to teach them the ropes of real fundraising, arm twisting, vote counting and how to move legislation?

That said, yesterdays episode of the apprentice was classic as Trump was owned by the Dem team. Wait for the tweetstorm response...
