WEEK IN REVIEW

Here ya go, Shaw.

Another piece of performance stupidity by another "preacher" who doesn't know the difference between two consenting adults entering into a mutually agreed, LEGAL marriage and a slab of bacon. This nitwit believe the SCOTUS ruling means anyone can marry anything. They take their idiocy to new heights under the pretense of humor.

In this case, the bacon has the higher IQ.

It's been one hell of a week. RedState can barely keep track of everything they need to be frothing with rage at.

And they ain't seen nothin' yet.

The right wing didn't get the rulings they wanted from the SCOTUS, so they decide the only way to deal with it is to fundamentally transform America by changing the Constitution?

"Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) has proposed a constitutional amendment that would subject Supreme Court justices to periodic judicial elections in the wake of rulings that upheld a key portion of the Affordable Care Act and affirmed gay couples' right to marriage.

“I am proposing an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would subject each and every justice of the United States Supreme Court to periodic judicial retention elections," Cruz said Saturday, during a speech in Des Moines, Iowa. He also called for such elections in the National Review on Friday."
--Washington Post

Wow! Ted didn't think a fundamental transformation of our Constitution was necessary when Citizens United passed, did he. Or when the Voting Rights Act was gutted?

His ilk want to run this country by fiat. If they don't get their way they'll fundamentally transform this country until they do.

Shameless hypocrites.

In their fury over the same-sex marriage decision, the Religious Right claims that the Supreme Court gutted democracy and violated the Constitution? Talk about sore losers. They need to understand that democracy does NOT equal whatever they want.

Ted Cruz isn't the only wingnut calling for the end of the Supreme Court (only when wingnuts disagree with their rulings, of course):

"After last week’s three moderate (the Supreme Court doesn’t do “liberal”) decisions on housing, marriage, and Obamacare, Jindal was beside himself. He told The Advocate in Louisiana, “The Supreme Court is completely out of control, making laws on their own, and has become a public opinion poll instead of a judicial body. If we want to save some money lets just get rid of the Court.” Longman responded, “Over here on the left side of the aisle, we’ve been increasingly frustrated with the decision making of the Supreme Court, from Bush v Gore to the evisceration of the Voting Rights Act, but you don’t see any of our governors or presidential candidates calling for the abolishment of the entire Court.”

But this is what has become to the conservative movement in this country. It really is best to see it like an authoritarian movement. There is no thought to consistency. Their ideology is one of results: how do we keep power so that we can continue to enrich ourselves. So it is nonsense to imagine that Bobby Jindal actually believes in anything coherent. Whatever furthers the cause of the conservative movement is good. This week, the Supreme Court was bad for the conservative movement so abolish it."

Authoritarian jiggery-pokery: If we don't get what we want, abolish it or defund it! Calling Sam Brownback! Didn't he threaten the courts in his state if they didn't do what he wanted?

The old Commies in the Soviet Union would be proud of Cruz, Jindal, and Brownback.

Who knows what jiggery-pokery, gallimaufry, effrontery and sheer bazz-frazzery they may come up with next. To be on the safe side, stock up on applesauce.
