Words Fail Me

A fight between a mom and a girl broke out and when the cops showed up everyone ran, including the people who didn't do anything.

So the cops just started putting everyone on the ground and in handcuffs for no reason. This kind of force is uncalled for especially on children and innocent bystanders. -

EDIT- To some people saying that the cop pulled out his taser on the kid, it was not a taser it was a gun.

The cop threw the 14 year old girl (who probably weighed no more than 100 lbs). to the ground and kneed her in the back while wearing 30 pounds of gear, plus his own weight.

The teens who organized the McKinney, Texas pool party that ended with a police officer pulling a gun on unarmed teens said the officer "was just aggressive for no reason." That officer is now suspended and under investigation.

Longtime McKinney Officer Blasts Police Conduct At Pool Party, Says Department Has A Race Problem

Things like this happen way too often. 20 years ago before YouTube and everyone having a video camera in their pocket, this type of behavior would have gone unnoticed. Police have earned their bad reputations.

If you would research this incident further you would see that what is posted in not totally correct but that would probably be too much trouble. What did ALgore say, the inconvenient truth.

Apparently people like you, skud, have become used to the idea of armed police over-reacting in incidents like these. None of those kids were armed or dangerous. And having an adult male cop carrying 30 lbs. of equipment knee a young girl into the ground for no good reason is unacceptable. That cop deserved to be put on administrative leave. He was out of control and didn't know how to handle the situation.

He pulled a gun on those children!

Why would you accept such behavior from the police against a bunch of kids?

And from what I've learned by reading and watching other reports, this all started because of two belligerent white women mouthing off to and insulting the young black teens.

There is no excuse for what that rogue cop did to those teen. None.

The usual radical right wing bloggers have posted a s0-called first-person account by a Michael Cory Quattrin saying what the video shows is not what happens. Except when you go to facebook to find M.C.Q. and his account, it's not there. The fact that the dumbest man on the internet Jim Hoft repeated the "story" is a good indication that it may not be true. Hoft repeats any rumor or story before he finds out if it's true or not.

One blogger posted M.C.Q.'s entire account without any link to prove its veracity. Until we know more about M.C.Q., I'm going to believe what I see on the YouTube video, and not some hearsay story the frightwingers repeat.

There are reports that this started when a white teenager objected to a white
adult's racial slurs towards black teens that were at the pool.
The adult started the fight and then the police managed things in a particularly
disgusting fashion.
The truth takes a little while to come out in these cases but it's going to have to
move in mysterious ways to justify anything but firing that officer.

My reaction is that we can be thankful that young people have worked a lot of
this racist crap out of the system.

T.Y.F., you may also believe what a long-time McKinney officer has to say about that police force. I just put up a link to his testimony at the bottom of this post. Unlike the radical right wing blogs that deal in rumor and hearsay, there's a link to this information.

"What the video shows, is not what happened."

That quote is almost as good as when a certain blogger said she uses a mixture of both true and false facts.

It may not be all the truth, but it does show part of the truth. The question for Skud is this... assuming the girl deserved to be handcuffed, did the officer use reasonable, or excessive force based on what you see in the video?

No more, no less...

I didn't say I accepted the behavior but the entire incident was not as stated and not as it first appeared. Controlling crowds and preventing them from getting out of hand requires decisive action, sometimes a little to much action. Of course it is much easier to just blame the police than look at what really occurred and see both sides.
Had the police have acted quicker in Missouri and Baltimore the rioting might have been lessened but of course we wouldn't have the rally cry hands up don't shoot and black lives matter.
Next time the police should just stay out of any disturbance, working well for Baltimore.

Dave Miller said...

Skud, no one is saying the police should stay away.

What us libs want, and expect is a professional police force that knows when to dial it up, and when to dial it back.

Maybe if we had higher standards for potential police officers, we'd get better results, but that would require political leadership... and money.

The very best technology, the ubiquitous recording smart phones. Have some police always been this out of control? Have their comrades covered for them?

The tape shows the 15 year old turning around and perhaps saying something. Since when is this behavior by a kid subject to the abuse and man-handling she was subjected to?

How do parents handle their natural fury when their child is abused by the very people who are paid by THEIR tax dollars to protect and defend? A horrible catch-22. My heart goes out to every person raising a non-white child or anyone who loves a non-white person of ANY age. I wrote non-white after thinking long and hard and seeing that in this tape all the white people were just ignored, the only ones that were safe in the eyes of these POLICE. Watch the tape again, am I correct?

skudrunner as usual is simply regurgitating favorite right wing boilerplate. Nothing more and nothing less.

Acceptance of police violence by people like Skud is part of the problem. It is time to stop making excuses for inexcusable behavior.

The kids didn't even appear to be drinking.

You're foolish. To compare an incident like this to race riots related to cop killings? What the hell are you reading? Come into the light. Renounce your sin.

"Attorney Pete Schulte, who previously served as an officer in the McKinney PD, spoke to Fox 4 News about the video’s indications of racial tension. “McKinney police have got to get this under control before tomorrow,” Schulte stated. “They got to get out there in front of this and make sure that citizens, even outside of the city of McKinney, understand that they’re going to do the right thing and take corrective action and that this was not racially motivated.”

Schulte also discussed Casebolt’s treatment of 15-year-old Dajerria Becton, saying it was “crazy” of him to react to the situation as he did. “I don’t care what she was yelling at that officer,” said Schulte. “Anything would not have justified throwing her to the ground and pushing her down and throwing her face into the concrete like he did.” He also stated that the suggested racism was especially present in the video since officers were not shown confronting any of the white party attendees.

“There is an indication based on watching the video that the white people who were around the officers weren’t talked to, they weren’t pushed away, they weren’t told to get on the ground, they weren’t put in handcuffs. The only individuals McKinney police were doing that to were those that were African-American.”

Casebolt has been suspended since the incident, though the department has received calls since then asking for him to be fired. In a separate interview with ABC News 8, Schulte said that it was not yet definite that Casebolt committed a crime with his actions, but that the department was analyzing the precise extent of his policy violations.

Brandon Brooks, the white teen who filmed the incident, also thinks it was a racial response. “A bunch of white parents were angry that a bunch of black kids who don’t live in the neighborhood were in the pool,” he said. McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller said he was “disturbed and concerned by the incident,” and promised that City Council and the Police would examine the incident with restraint and professionalism."

Sorry you feel that way Less but this was the first time I have seen anything about this incident. Did the police over react based in hindsight knowledge, probably but did they really use excessive force, maybe in hindsight. They defused a tense situation and no one was severely injured.

Always easy to judge or lead from behind. It would be nice to have a better educated and trained police department but the better educated the more money which cities can't afford.

Slamming a 14 year old child to the ground and kneeing her in the back is using excessive force. It's brutalizing. She was not charged with anything. I have read enough comments from people who have no problem with these totalitarian tactics by some police as long as those tactics are used on certain populations. Read the usual racist blogs and you'll see how the bottom feeders applaud police brutality and, btw, post blatant lies, rumors, and hearsay, backed up by nothing. We don't expect much more than that from intellectually challenged racists who haven't the sense God gave a lemon.

the half-wits at the smut hut call black people savages, apes, thugs, and talk about the first lady having fleas in her tail then they accuse Obama of being the most racist president America had? A 10 lb rock is a genius compared to that kind of stupid, there's more intelligence in a head of lettuce than the combined IQ of those radical racists.

T.S.D.,

They're not bright enough to understand the irony of calling the president a race-baiter while at the same time hosting low-life commenters who are among the worst racist asshats on the internet.

They obviously didn't get Bobby Jindal's warning to stop being the Stupid Party. I guess it's just part of their DNA.
