Hey Gov. Abbott! What do you have to say about this?

None of Texas' quality of life metrics were in the top 50 percent of U.S. states, according to a new report. The study found weaknesses in the state's childcare, health resources, inclusiveness and voting rights.

The 2022 version of CNBC's "Top States for Business" study found that Texas scored just 72 out of a possible 325 points in the "Life, Health and Inclusion" category, earning an "F" grade.

CNBC said quality of life was given "particular attention" in this year's study and considered factors like crime rates, environmental quality and health care.

For the first time in 2022, the availability of childcare was also a factor. The inclusiveness of state laws, including protections against discrimination and voting rights, was also among the factors.

"Skilled workers are still flocking to Texas despite longstanding quality of life issues," CNBC wrote. "When they arrive, they are finding limited childcare options, a stressed health care system with the highest rate of uninsured, new curbs on voting rights and few protections against discrimination."

A fine example of the Ignorance - Greed connection at work. Capitalism, in and of itself results in the realities of America in 2022. Actually across the globe.

You can always count on AOW who is the apologist- in- chief to Donald Trump, and his voters. And Chief Silverware who is still adamantly a Trump Lover. High Priest to the Trump Sheep but he apologizes for Trumps smearing and insulting those El Donaldo had previously Insulted, or called those ignorant names

That must be the reason so many people and companies are leaving Texas for California.

I knew some people that had to move to Texas for work. Texas brags that it doesn't have any state income tax. But when the people got down there they found out the property taxes were twice as high as in St. Louis. All in all, they wound up paying the same amount of taxes. Just in different buckets.

I haven't checked that blog for a while. It usually blames all the troubles this country experiences on the "DemocRATS!" LOL!

AFAIK, they haven't followed the J6 hearings because they'd be forced to see how wrong they've been in NOT condemning what the insurrectionists did to the Capitol building, and how their hero, Trump, tried to overthrow a free and fair election, kill his own vice president, and illegally install himself in the presidency.

But...but... the DemocRATS are what's wrong with this country!!!! LOL!

Cultists don't know they're in a cult! And, man, that blog is crawling with Trump cultists!

Mike, that's about the same experience folks from Mass. had when they moved to "no state taxes" New Hampshire. My sister and her husband moved there after they retired. They paid more in property taxes for their small "A" frame cottage than my husband and I paid for our 4 bedroom house in Mass.

Same taxes, different buckets indeed!

Yes. The state of Texas isn't all that it tells the rest of the country it is. At this point, it has the worst record for massacres, high property taxes and low quality of life. A nightmare, IMO.

Those people are still in denial about the J6 insurrection.

Don't Tell a TEXAN that because we are a proud state. You can go anywhere in the world and say I'm from Texas and nobody says where is that. At least having a high property tax doesn't punish the poor and low wage earner the way a state income tax does. The government will get you money they just get it in different ways. Politicians are the problem not the solution.

I get the jealousy of those not born in Texas but you can't change that. There are only two types of people in the world, those that were born in TEXAS and those that wish they were.

Re: The Trumpers of AOW and Geeez blogs

Their Republican brand is prefaced on grievance and outrage primarily because the platform would be deeply unpopular otherwise: tax cuts for the wealthy and cuts in social services are pretty unpopular, so you need smoke and mirrors to sell it. This outrage is directed towards blacks, minorities, gays, trans, immigrants, and any "other".

It's not, and never was, about patriotism, family values, fiscal conservatism, or whatever else they've told us over the last 40 years.

Just look at the person they supported for president and what he actually stands for. Wealth, greed, adultery, cheating, and lying. Those are their actual "values" because they support Trump.

skud my step-daughter and her family lived in Texas for 20 years. I visited there many times, and there's a lot to like, but a lot to dislike as well. One of the things that is unpleasant is their bragging when at this point, they should be ashamed of some of the quality of life issues they are failing at.

Have you ever been to anyplace other than an American state? Have you ever asked someone in a foreign country what they think of when you say "Texas?" I have.

It's not flattering.

"Skilled workers are still flocking to Texas despite longstanding quality of life issues," CNBC wrote. "When they arrive, they are finding limited childcare options, a stressed health care system with the highest rate of uninsured, new curbs on voting rights and few protections against discrimination."

Plus Texas leads the rest of the US in massacres of the innocent. So, there's that too.

I am a Texan, born and raised. Luckily, I escaped when I saw in what direction my state was headed. Electing a total moron like Shrub was the final straw. I left the GOP and I left Texas for good with my family. I haven't even considered going back and have found a true paradise away from that inbred, toothless stagnated swill pond of a state. Every year I'm more and more glad I made the decision that I made.

Blueballs, That is the great thing about states rights. If you don't like the state you live in you can move. I doubt few people move because they don't like the political orientation of their state but that is their right. As to every year you are glad you made the decision to leave, so are thousands of proud Texans.

Skidmark is correct about one thing (I know, shocking, isn't it?) Every year, thousands of Texans are glad they made the decision to leave. I'm not used to Skiddy telling the truth so this is going to take me some time to learn this 'new normal'. Now I wish I hadn't given up whiskey.
