Thank You Madam Speaker

Steve Schmidt: Nancy Pelosi is a true leader. There are few American politicians who have kept the faith during the troubled first decades of the 21st century. The Speaker of the House is one of them, and my admiration and respect for her does not flow from agreement over political issues or happiness over her voting record. Nancy Louise Pelosi is a leader of character and integrity whose public service has been honorable and loyal.

John Boehner: Congratulations @SpeakerPelosi on a remarkable, historic run of service in the People's House. We were able to disagree without being disagreeable. You've been unfailingly gracious to me and my family.

Al Gore:  Nancy Pelosi has been the greatest, most effective Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in American history. Thank you @SpeakerPelosi for your dedicated service and leadership.

Rob Reiner:  Speaker Nancy Pelosi: The most effective, accomplished, and consequential Speaker in our lifetime. With love and admiration, Thank You.  .

Heather Thomas:  When Nancy Pelosi first won Speaker of the House, I took my mother and oldest daughter to Washington to witness the and celebrate. Remembering that wonderous day now and marveling at how she changed all of us and our beliefs for what was and is power and possible.

"Ms. Pelosi is an original, and we are unlikely to see another leader of her ilk any time soon. She elbowed her way to the tippy top of the congressional boys’ club, then set about distinguishing herself as the most formidable, most effective House leader since the middle of the last century. Love her or hate her, you have to acknowledge the fundamental badassery." --Michelle Cottle, NYTimes

Rick Wilson: "They're not going to try to govern, they're going to try to own the libs and they're going to try to set up a big culture war for 2024. And they're going to try to pave the way for Donald Trump, who is the person they're most loyal to in the House, above Kevin McCarthy by an order of magnitude. So I think the insanity is going to begin very quickly, and they're going to go through two years of show trials and hearings and persecutions and it's going to become something I think most voters will roll their eyes at first, and then get irritated with and look at it as a political repellant in the '24 cycle."

I fear Rick Wilson is totally and completely spot on.

Our egocentric American capitalist culture drives the self centeredness that is driving the deep divisions and greed that will eventually be the undoing of our democratic republic.

The roots of our national malady have been present since our beginning as a nation. While our culture has made strides in taming its worst angels, unfortunately we have been unsuccessful at severing the evil roots. So the poisonous veins remain intact.

the more the nasty, disgusting, lie factory known as the GQP hated, trashed and made up nonsense about the good Speaker, the more America learned about, admired and yes, grew to love Nancy Pelosi. Her years of service to our great nation, along with her unflinching resolution to maintain the highest levels of morality and wisdom made her an invaluable asset to America. Thank you Madam Speaker. You will always have my respect and gratitude.

On a side note: thank you all for the many cheering emails and good wishes during this health crisis. I love you guys and appreciate you all.

I remember how encouraging it felt after 2018 when she arose to lead the opposition to Trump. It seemed like she was the real leader of the country.

She did have power and used it to her own advantage. What other speaker would tell supposedly smart people that you have to vote for a bill in order to see it. The most outrages thing about it is they did just that which proves her power and their ignorance. What other speaker has torn up a SOTU address from a president in total disrespect of the office no matter who that president was. What other speaker would say everyone stay inside while I go out and get a haircut. What other speaker would say that a virus is not anything and tell people to go to China town and then blame everyone else for the spread. What other speaker would kneel in sink with a a movement using the wrong cloth. I do feel compassion for her husband because he has lost advance stock advice and now she may move home.

Yes she had ultimate power over the house and abused it every day.

It is interesting to read how offended you are by this symbolic reaction to Trump's pack of lies SOTU address. Speaker Pelosi broke no law. And Trump got what he deserved.

I know your opinion of Madam Speaker is low, but those who have studied the careers of Speakers of the House -- Congressional historians -- understand that she will be remembered as THE MOST consequential Speaker in modern history. You disagree. That's ok.

But you don't write history. The historians do. And they all agree she will be among the best remembered.

Infidel753 Speaker Pelosi showed more leadership on J6 than Trump did during his whole 4 years as POTUS.

So great to hear from you.

Speaker Pelosi's detractor's are jealous of her accomplishments and trail-blazing Speakership. But as I told skud, they don't write history, and history will be very kind to Speaker Pelosi.

Peace to you. You're always in my thoughts.

Les,

You're correct.

It seems that Republicans want a dictatorship ruled by Trump who arrests anyone who doesn't agree with him, who executes people (drug dealers) without due process, and who thinks he's chosen by God.

It also seems that Republicans hate freedom, especially freedom of choice for women, freedom of parents to allow their children to read LGBTQ books, or books featuring characters with the same color of skin and experience as themselves.

When Trumpublicans squawk about losing FREEDUMBS! it ISN'T about losing freedom at all, it's about THEIR losing the power to impose their prejudices and religion on the rest of us.

Speaker Pelosi, who is a bit to progressive imv, has more integrity, is less hypocrirical, and is more effective than the entire republican caucus combined. Every day of the week. skud's comment not withstanding.

skud said this, sounding more in need of a nap than usual "What other speaker would kneel in sink with a a movement using the wrong cloth."

You are talking about the kente scarves provided by the Congressional Black Caucus after the murder of George Floyd. How can they be 'wrong'? How is kneeling with colleagues to honor a man denied due process because of murder by cop be considered "in sync"? Where is your humanity?

Not sure where you got your talking points there skud but you sound an awful lot like OAN, FOX, or Sinclair to name a few. Seriously, do y'all get print outs and mailers to ensure everyone says the same thing? It's creepy to be honest, like Camazotz creepy.

Grey, It was a political stunt that was called out even by the leftist media. These scarves were worn by rich slave traders so how is that in honor of a man denied due process. I am trying to remember members of congress kneeling for a slain LEO's but I am sure you can correct me.
