Drag Queens and Other Dangerous Things

Twenty eight Children Rescued, and fifty nine Adults Arrested in Massive DFW Child Porn Investigation including two Christian church leaders.

"In some of these stings you see blue-collar workers, executives, all types, but in this specific one, there's a number of first responders, and we expect first responders either help us in an unsafe situation, or we feel safe with them," said Hohman. “Some of these were teachers who have direct access to our children. These are individuals that we've told our children are safe. Teachers, firemen, nurses, and so that's extremely concerning in this particular operation. What do we tell our kids? Nobody's safe? Right? So that's why we have to educate. It just makes you wonder, where the hell the world is going?"

Argument against Drag Queen story hours:

“To expose children to drag shows, to drag attire, to bring that into the minds of a 3-year-old, a 4-year-old, a 5-year-old, an 8-year-old, is wrong. It is objectively wrong. It socializes and conditions. It unlocks doors in their brains that they are not ready for, that their parents have not decided to speak with them about, and it is objectively wrong to do that,” Hoffman said.

But Americans are okay with this:

Sick. Disgusting. Revolting.

They should have the book thrown at them.

As for the red state folks rushing to fight their strawmen, it is all they have. The world is changing and their fears, attachments, and aversions are driving them further into darkness.

I recently took a suggestion you gave me awhile back and visited Silverfiddle's site, now Freedom Conspiracy on the Discus platform. Interesting discussions, more reasonable give and take, but basically more of the same old strawmen arguments of the conservative mindset.

Conservatives are reeling as they fight the inevitable liberation that is taking place everywhere they turn.

The citizens of America have become to extreme. We don't need transgender story time in schools and we sure as hell don't need children posing with weapons of mass death. I won't pick one over the other, I will just say Americans from both sides are nuts.

Since when did Drag Queens become a thing to fear?

There's nothing wrong with children seeing men or women in beautiful costumes -- they see that when they go to the circus and watch clowns perform, when Halloween comes around and men and women dress in opposite sex costumes. It's playing. Why does that frighten certain adults?

I don't think Drag Queens are reading in public schools; they do in public libraries and private venues, AFAIK.

Cross-dressing has been around forever. Even the ex-Mayor of New York, Giuliani, played at it, and no one's complained until some frightened weirdos made it a "thing" to fear.

Cross-dressing is no where near what the weapons of war represent. Cross-dressing isn't associated with mass shootings. Those photos of babies and children holding weapons of war are far more repulsive than any photo of a Drag Queen reading a story to kids.

I lurk and read what's posted there, but I won't comment. Silver is very smart and articulate, but I find him rude to anyone who dares contradict his preciously held opinions. You're brave to go there and enlighten them with your ideas. But I doubt they'll see any merit in them.

We all like to believe we've "found the truth." When in fact we should always be seeking it.

I share your views on Silver. I also fight my age old tendency to be like that. I occasionally fail.

I decided to visit exactly for that reason. To put myself in a situation to test and work on my patience and begin to practice right speech while attempting to project right view, as Buddhist practice it.

What is really important to me is realizing the truth of our innate nature. Buddhanature, compassion, love, peace, and understanding. There are many paths to arrive at that. True spititual leaders like the Archbishop Desmond Tutu and His Holiness the Dalai Lama are great examples of understanding, compassion and love for all. Different paths to the same realization.

As light shines, dark corners are illuminated. And that, is a very great thing.

For some on the right, and even on the left, the future is filled with darkness and looks bleak. If Mother Earth survives the existential threat of man created climate change and homanity doesn't destroy itself i have great belief that we'll be okay.

Les, You and I have known each other through blogging for years, and I have to say that I am blown away at what you are doing vis-a-vis your spiritual journey guided by the teachings in Buddhism. Not many people at our age can do this -- deliberately look within ourselves and let go of what we thought was our true selves -- letting the scales fall from our eyes and see beyond our egos.

What you're doing is nothing less than amazing!

I'm humbled Shaw. Thank you for your thoughtful words.

It has not been easy, but nothing really worth doing ever is.

When i do my benefactor practice you are on my benefactor tree. You've given me much without you yourself realizing it. So, again thank you.

Have a pleasant evening.

Namaste
