Indeed.

I imagine the energy of his mind is not smiling over what the present day redumblicans have done to his party.

Do we celebrate Lincoln's birthday, or is it (all) Presidents Day?

We celebrate Presidents' Day in February -- but this was so clever that I chose to post it on Lincoln's birthday.

What ever happened to the “Unity” that Joey Biden promised us that he would “Take Care” of if he was President? And where is the “unity” from the the NFL ? Democratic Party.

Let see now, we have MLK holiday, Black History month, and the even dumber JUNETEENTH that is now a national holiday (a day that has ZERO meaning outside of Black Slaves in Texas being informed by a Union General that Lincoln freed them), to reparation demands, now this insanity?.
And now it seems as if the Black athletes want their own National Anthem, The NFL’s pre-Super Bowl festivities will include a rendition of the Black National Anthem for the third consecutive year.
We SHOULD have ONE National Anthem, SCREW the NFL, and SCREW the rest of the DIVIDERS in the country. If this is being done then Why Not A Chinese Nation Anthem, And a Muslim National Anthem, And why not the Jewish Anthem? And why not a Anthem for the Highspanics
The NFL started to play the Black national anthem in the 2020 season following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officers.
Well Enough is Enough, are we going to ad a New National Athem every time a special group is Upset?
Why wasn’t the NFL being pressured to be a Patriotic American when Pat Tillman.was killed?
I’, waiting for the next thing to happen in this country will be a DRAG QUEEN’S Anthem! Because it want be long until Men dressed as Woman take over.

Thanks IMHO for clarifying just how utterly out of touch you actually are with anything decent and honest.

Tell me you're a frightened, insecure Boomer white male without telling me you're a frightened, insecure Boomer white male.

I will side with leslie and favor reparations. Give the original 13 colonies back to the Native Americans and Kalifornia back to mexico and we should be square.

We need to divide the country as much as possible so we can steal more money from those who pay FIT. We need to pour more money into public schools so students cannot pass basic academic achievements. They are not the exception but the rule in public education proving that the majority of the leaders in the large cities are indeed racist. Poor kids are forced to attend public instead of private schools because their parents can't afford private where rich white families can. Fortunately there is a movement for education money follows the child instead of the address and this may create change for the better.

With the train disaster in ohio, where is mayor pete? Is he in the same place he was when SWA melted down or the FAA botched the NOTAM system. Must be because he was absent then as well.

skud

What about TEXAS? It belonged to Mexico as well, until we started a war with them that we knew they couldn't win.

skud "With the train disaster in ohio, where is mayor pete? Is he in the same place he was when SWA melted down or the FAA botched the NOTAM system. Must be because he was absent then as well."

Of course you knew that the Trump administration repealed an Obama era law that mandated certain safety rules for trains carrying hazardous material, didn't you?

But sure, go ahead and blame a Democrat for Trump's irresponsible repeal of safety laws for transporting hazardous material over the rails.

And try to forget how Republican President Trump handled the COVID pandemic, in which he failed to protect Americans with his unrelenting stupidity and narcissism.

Shaw, those who can't accept responsibility for the consequences of their own actions must find a scapegoat, or at least that's what history has taught me.

skud can't find what Secretary Pete is doing because they continue to look for Mayor Pete, not Secretary Pete. Way to reduce the man to a child skud.

If skud had done the least possible amount of due diligence aka research they would have discovered Secretary Pete has been coordinating with fellow governmental agencies to verify each affected resident's home in Ohio is safe to occupy. They would have also discovered Secretary Pete continued scheduled meetings with citizens around the country to address their infrastructure issues - something Biden delivered on while the former administration only promised (I swear infrastructure week lasted a decade under the former guy - they had a plan, honest! but somehow the big reveal was always a week away h/t Annie).

By the way skud, did some more research on your "Fair" tax plan. If the 30% sales tax is adopted it will destroy the USA as it exists today. See, I've not found any contingencies to address the sudden spike in unemployment as thousands of citizens currently employed by the IRS, Social Security, and Medicare administrations are fired when the agencies are defunded. Additionally having a 30% tax on all goods sold will crush those at the bottom of the economic scale meaning the USA returns to its' senior citizens eating cat food and sleeping on park benches because they can't afford rent or human food. We sort of have this issue now with the homeless but if the "Fair" tax is enacted our Great Depression will be a dress rehearsal for what comes next.

I've learned from my studies of First Nations that they have a practice - any new idea must be thought out through seven generations. If We The People would look down the road to next week I'd consider it a success. Seven years? That is a goal worth working towards.

Ms. Shaw, Your right it is all trumps fault. BTW Happy Valentines Day, hope you have a good one.

Grey, Mayor pete has been MIA in all of the recent crisis but he was given the job not because he had a clue but as a political favor. In South Bend he is known as pothole pete because of all he did for the city. Joey b has a sound habit of putting people into positions where they can take the peter principal to it's full extent.

Did you ever read the "fair Tax" book which explains how it would compensate for the undeserved. What we have done for the last 50 years certainly hasn't worked so why not look at something new. We have a system where welfare is considered a generational career and success is vilified and punished. We have so many permanent unemployed that raising interest rate have little effect except of course to create more inflation and punish the dreaded middle class.

I would love to read some qualified research to the blanket statement "We have a system where welfare is considered a generational career and success is vilified and punished." Also, just how many "permanent unemployed" do you think we have?

How about a chart from the Bureau of Labor Statistics
https://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/cpseea38.htm

skud, I agree that what We The People are doing now regarding equal taxation isn't working. That said, the numbers don't add up in the "Fair" tax plan. They just don't. If they did I would be their biggest advocate. But they don't. Please keep your Fair tax proselytizing to yourself in the future unless you have evidence it will work for all.

By the way, Welfare is NOT a generational career and the fact you said that proves to me your bias and bigotry. Have you been on Welfare aka Supplemental Income? Rhetorical question as your words prove you haven't because the process of needing that money to survive means surrendering ones ego and any expectation of privacy. Oliver Twist begged less for his cup of gruel than Americans have to beg for monies to survive. And that isn't even the worst of it all - can anyone who is in the system say recertification without wincing? I think not.

Success - how do you define success skud? Making loads of cash? Fitting into the corporate box? Being able to brown nose the higher ups all while stealing ideas and work from colleagues, falsifying ones resume, lying about everything? How about spending all ones time on the job while ignoring family? As I see it that's how you spell success. I don't.

As for the permanently unemployed, yeah, I'm one of them. I don't want to be unemployed but as I said to the Judge deciding my disability case, "I'd love to have a job and support myself. With the various health issues I face I've yet to find an employer who is ok that I have to stay in bed because the wind is blowing or my PTSD is flaring. Therefore, I'm medically disabled. And I'm not alone.

It's estimated that the health concerns facing humans in general and Americans in specific include increasing diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, Immunocompromised diseases to include Lupus and Fibromyalgia, and Long COVID. None of the people affected want to be on SSA but here we are.

Thus far skud all you bring to the table is shame and blame. Time to address the issues as they are, and for the record, historically white people have consistently told the black people to do their 'thing' some place else (I have receipts if needed, a horrible collection of horrible actions by humans against humans). And consistently when the black people thrived some place else the white peoples feelings got all bent out of shape and they destroyed some place else. But yeah, tell me it's a culture thing because while We The People believe all humans are created equal, some are not as equal as others, amirite?

When we know better we do better. I used to believe that, and I still do for myself. The rest of humanity? In my opinion the jury is still out.

Grey, "proves to me your bias and bigotry" don't forget racist and misogynistic since you have labeled me might as well include all platitudes. There are numerous studies that show welfare crosses generational lines in families but I am sure they are based on false data so should be discarded.

Success is what you make it. I can't say I have ever been in financial distress. The poorest I have ever been was raising my family while paying for my college and working nights so I could attend school. I was once in the corporate box but that was 40 years ago and I didn't like it so I left. Now if you believe in yourself and make a good living you are not paying your fair share so you will be punished. As BHO said, we are going to share your wealth because you worked for it and someone else didn't.

Granted there are millions of people who cannot work but there are also millions who choose not to because the government will provide. The way we collect and distribute money has been so successful in the past I can't understand why we should even consider any other ideas.
