Donald Trump’s team fear a conspiracy theorist informally advising the former president doomed him in the debate with Kamala Harris and threatens to derail his campaign.
Trump has sought counsel from Laura Loomer, a former congressional candidate and far-right agitator known to peddle baseless theories. Trump’s allies are convinced he is making “unforced errors” by listening to divisive figures such as Loomer from the online right.
The Republican nominee repeated a false viral rumour during Tuesday’s debate in Philadelphia that Haitian migrants in the Ohio town of Springfield were killing and eating pet dogs and cats. David Muir, the ABC debate moderator, pointed out that Springfield’s city manager told the outlet there was no credible report of any pets being harmed.

But "someone with limited education who is a complete grifter" describes Trump just as well. People instinctively recognize their own kind.
Since the debate the right-wing internet has been awash with memes and commentary insisting that, yes, illegal aliens really are chowing down on cats and dogs left and right like some sort of zombie apocalypse. It's becoming part of the wingnut world of delusion, like the "stolen" election and vaccines being poison.
I hope Loomer sued that plastic surgeon.

Trump has no discernment in choosing people to join his team. Taking on this toxic racist and hate monger as an adviser is a feature of his personality, which means the only qualification for anyone to serve him is that they flatter his stupidity. Add this sorry woman to the legion of toadying sycophants Trump's attracted to his campaign.
I think it's actually a good choice. Why? As James Carville once said, "When your opponent is drowning in the pool, throw him an effing anvil!"
Loomer is just another anvil added to Trump's re-election team.
As I said below in answer to BB-Idaho's comment, this is a gift to the Harris campaign. "Let Trump Be Trump!" And let him choose "only the best" weirdos.
