THURSDAY TOONS

MT Greene thinks she "owned" President Biden. And Sarah Huckabee Sanders self-owned the Trumpublicans.

Thanks for this compilation--they are all great! I decided to look at MTG's Facebook page and she has posted the video of her howler monkey performance front and center. What is depressing are all the people thanking her and saying "God Bless You". Egads!

Yay Biden said...

“So, folks, as we all apparently agree: Social Security and Medicare is off the books now, right?” Biden said.

Republicans in the chamber didn’t seem to know what to do, but an increasingly large number of them gradually rose and applauded.

“All right,” Biden said. “We’ve got unanimity!”

The way Biden turned the exchange back on them was rather masterful. Well played sir!

Possumlady, People with no self-awareness often think their insulting and rude behavior is commendable, when in fact it's a reflection of their weaknesses, cowardice, and ignorance.

Apparently her fans admire those qualities in a US representative.

It's a new breed of republicans, that's for sure. We can only hope the republican moderates can make a comeback.

You sound like the big -H- and her attack on any women who accused the serial rapist of misconduct. They were sluts and this is a big right wing conspiracy. Now sanders is being vilified for saying anything bad about the democrats. Guess the women's movement is all just hot air and the metoo movement doesn't apply to all women just a select few

possumlady said...

The women's movement was and is about women being treated as equals of men in business and law along with equal opportunities and greater personal freedom for women. It does not mean supporting any batshit crazy woman out there just because she is a woman. I can't believe I have to explain this but then I did have a republican friend who was shocked I didn't support Sarah Palin since she was a woman (SMH).

Oh puleeze, Skud! How many times have you come here and used silly name-calling against President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, VP Kamala Harris, and Pres. Joe Biden?

Sanders was rightfully mocked over her inane comment on “the crazy and the normal” since rational people know that she’s a representative of “the crazy.”

Did you not witness the crazy behavior of the Trumpublicans led by MT Greene at the SOTU on Tuesday night? Have you not seen the video of Sen. Mike Lee talking about wanting to “ pull Social Security up by the roots and get rid of it” then looking confused as Pres. Biden said SOME Trumpublicans want to end it?

How can anyone NOT think some sort of craziness has taken over the once proud Republican Party. And it wasn’t just Sen. Lee who advocated sun setting/ending S.S. Senators Rick Scott and Ron Johnson have said so as well.

That’s CRAZY talk!

As is being proven no one on either side has said do away with SS an Medicare. If you recall it was LBJ who moved those pre paid funds from a lock box to the general funds so he could have more to give away. The problem with that plan is it has made both programs unsustainable without some changes. Now the elected elite are saying SS and MC are "entitlements" when they are actually pre paid programs. Medicaid, Welfare and housing illegals at taxpayer expense are entitlements.

Politics is all about crazies not about people and we can just throw away the term normal so I agree with you on that.

skud you obviously did NOT go to the link in the post below where there is visual and audio PROOF of a Republican senator, Mike Lee, stating very clearly that he want TO END SOCIAL SECURITY. PERIOD.

Here are his exact words:

"When Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) initially ran for Senate in 2010, he called for the complete elimination of Social Security.

“It will be my objective to phase out Social Security, to pull it up by the roots and get rid of it,” Lee said at a campaign event in 2010, adding, “There’s going to be growing pains associated with doing this. We can’t do it all at once.”

McConnell slams Scott over plan to sunset Medicare, Social Security

...President Biden has been hammering Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) for his plan that would require Congress to reauthorize even popular programs such as Social Security and Medicare every five years to keep them operating.

On Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) joined in the criticism, suggesting that provisions in Scott’s plan could hurt him in his bid for reelection next year in Florida, a state with the greatest share of seniors in the nation.

“That’s not a Republican plan. That was the Rick Scott plan,” McConnell told longtime Kentucky radio host Terry Meiners when asked about the provision calling for the sunsetting of Social Security and Medicare every five years."

There are other Republicans, Ron Johnson, for example, that want to sunset these safety nets, including Governor DeSantis of Florida.

Republicans have ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS wanted to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Apparently they do not believe government should help its citizens.

Maybe it is just me, but skud sure sounds like one very frightened individual who is concerned his white male privilege may soon be an artifact of the past.

skud obviously reads and listento only that which aligns with what he wants to believe. True or not.

Are you talking about Donald Trump?

This is false. You are repeating a lie. It's understandable since due diligence isn't your thing.

Starting in 1969 (due to action by the Johnson Administration in 1968) the transactions to the Trust Fund were included in what is known as the "unified budget." This means that every function of the federal government is included in a single budget. This is sometimes described by saying that the Social Security Trust Funds are "on-budget." This budget treatment of the Social Security Trust Fund continued until 1990 when the Trust Funds were again taken "off-budget." This means only that they are shown as a separate account in the federal budget. But whether the Trust Funds are "on-budget" or "off-budget" is primarily a question of accounting practices--it has no effect on the actual operations of the Trust Fund itself. Source

Not $1 from SS, MC trust fund has been used for any other purpose. Now you Know. Next time you say this, and I know you will, you won't be repeating a falsehood, you will be lying.

Craig, I've called skud out on other lies and unverified rumors he's posted here, like the gossip about Rep. Omar's marriage to her brother. That is an UNVERIFIED rumor that cannot be verified, yet he repeated it here and elsewhere.

Thank you for setting the record straight on Social Security funds.

For reasons unknown to me and many others, Trumpublican conservatives spread these rumors and gossip. A lot of these sorts of lies, rumors, and gossip come from far-right "news" sources like Newsmax and FAUX NOOZ.

I have no idea why skud doesn't check the veracity of what he posts.

Les Carpenter said...

Most people like skud, and they are many in numbers, do not check the verscity of that which they post (or hear/read/view) likely because they believe that which they wish to believe. So, anything, or everything that supports their conditioned and reified beliefs they believe without qoestion. Whether true or not makes no difference to them. Simply believing makes it so for them.

Self interest can be blinding.

possumlady said...

Skud has brought up the LBJ SS trope before. I remember because I did a modicum of research to easily disprove his statement. He must keep a list of debunked topics he knows will get a rise out of people and puts them on replay every six months or so...

I do try and not follow in the footsteps of some presidents by not telling the truth but some issue are a little vague.

As published by the totally unreliable source called Social Security.gov In the 1939 Amendments, a formal trust fund was established and a requirement was put in place for annual reports on the actuarial status of the fund. Specifically, the law provided: "There is hereby created on the books of the Treasury of the United States a trust fund to be known as the 'Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund

'"In early 1968 President Lyndon Johnson made a change in the budget presentation by including Social Security and all other trust funds in a"unified budget."
