General John Kelly: "He said that, in his opinion, Mr. Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator if allowed, and had no understanding of the Constitution or the concept of rule of law."

YOUR SUNDAY MOMENT OF ZEN
"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be."- Marcel Pagnol
IOW's they live in the past while projecting their desires into the future while ignoring moment by moment change in the present moment. The ONLY moment anybody can act in.
And all the while causing suffering for oneself and others.
Founding Fathers vs Evangelicals - "Experience witnesseth that ecclesiastical establishments, instead of maintaining the purity and efficacy of religion, have had a contrary operation. During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." James Madison; 1785
As OSHO said in the fullness of his true spirituality, and i paraphrase, I hate all religions, all of them. Because the moment you believe you've fallen into the trap and effectively cut off all other possibilities. Christianity (but not as Jesus actually taught) has been, and continues to be, the greatest man made evil ever perpetuated on humanity. And any person who is honest and sees reality knows that the RCC bears great responsibility for most of the current evils in Western society.
BB and Les, Gareth Gore explored the darkness and evil in the political arm of the Catholic Church, and their influence on the corruption of our Supreme Court.
"This guy Leonard Leo orchestrated a conservative takeover of the US Supreme Court. He was a critical figure in the overturning of Roe vs Wade. He's also deeply involved with Opus Dei. Why should that matter? A THREAD"
Dave et al... The GOP fascination with the Dept of Education [DOE] is interesting. If I live in Utopia, I could see it like this...
The budget of the DOE is X.
What if, the argument goes, the Feds got out of the education business and sent 100% of X to the states. Wouldn't the states get MORE education money?
Of course they would. And then locally, states could administer that money closer to the voters who could better police proper use of the $$$.
How is that, in Utopia bad?
Now I know there will be graft and corruption in those state run systems, but if anyone thinks we don't have that now in DC, I've got a bridge to sell you on a river in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Moving some of what DC does closer to the states, or even to state control, may not be totally bad, especially if we can manage it with some intelligence.
Dave, You raise what seems a reasonable point, if only states "can manage it with some intelligence". How does that work out for women's reproductive rights? Education, like civil rights, is clearly under the general welfare clause of the Constitution. This is the bane of the Right. They care only for the welfare of white Christians, corporations and the rich. And that's how at least half the states would deal with education.

Do you speak Pagnol?

When people talk about the good ol' days they forget all about the bad ol' times that went along with them.
Ah, Marcel Pagnol. Two of my most favorite films are adaptations of his books, Jean de Florette and Manon of the Springs.
And here we go:
After declaring he knew nobody from Project 2025, Donald Trump told FOX(R) he would put Project 2025’s author, Tom Homan, in his Administration.
Trump promised more from Project 2025 at a rally: "I’m going to take the Department of Education and close it. What the hell do you have to lose?"

Voting for Trump institutionalizes IGNORANCE, DELUSION, and STUPIDITY.

IMHO anyways...
Trump, Vance, and the now trumpublican cult dehumanizing the disabled, women, immigrants, democrats, or anyone accepting truth as reality.
IOW's the authorized dystopian playbook of Trump, MAGA, and the trumpublican cult of lemmings.
