The left never said it would control every aspect of anyone's life, find me a quote anything like the one DeSantis made about destroying the left. BTW, Conservatives are now forcing girls and women to carry a pregnancy either by her rapist or even if it endangers her life. That's a bit of "forcing" isn't it. I second your statement that Climate Change is real. Those of us humans who are observant have watched for decades as ecological whistleblowers were either recruited by Big Oil or removed from the planet when they left the USA to do environmental work on other continents.
Just as DeSantis didn't use the word ban when removing books from schools across their state, his minions will be remove humans who espouse any ideology DeSantis deems to be woke or to the left. Leftism/Liberalism/Progressivism are all ideas, and anyone who knows history knows that ideas are carried in the hearts and minds of people. Just read about how the ideas of liberty and self-government grew in the progressive minds of the founding fathers.
How does one destroy leftist/liberal/progressive ideas? You have to destroy the people who hold those ideas. That's what DeSantis is saying. (Like most shallow-thinking demagogues, he didn't think the implications of his words out). IMO, and in other's, DeSantis is promising a purge of people whose ideas HE and his ilk don't like.
