Good Morning. Here's What's Happening in Trumplandia.

Here's the latest on the Trump - Russia scandals from Mother Jones about who's lawyering up in the Trump administration.

As you read about the widening criminal investigations consuming Trumplandia, remember his 30 percenters will continue to call this "fake news." And who can blame the poor things? The Trump presidency is less than 6 months old and everyone except the White House chef has hired a lawyer. Even the lawyers have hired lawyers.

But the rabid righties will tell you this is all made up and there's no story here. Because in their little universe, a president, vice president, presidential counselors, aides, and lawyers hire legal help just for something to do. In their "nothing to see here" minds, this is all "fake news."

Trump did promise to bring big beautiful jobs to America, and he's certainly on track to do that with all the lawyers finding big beautiful employment in D.C.

Vice President Pence Lawyers Up
by KEVIN DRUM

The latest: Vice President Pence has hired outside legal counsel to help with both congressional committee inquiries and the special counsel investigation into possible collusion between President Trump’s campaign and Russia.

The vice president’s office said Thursday that Pence has retained Richard Cullen, a Richmond-based lawyer and chairman of McGuire Woods who previously served as a U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. This is just astonishing.

The FBI is actively investigating ties between the president’s campaign and a hostile foreign power. Ditto for his former national security adviser.

The FBI director has been fired for refusing to kill the investigation. The attorney general has recused himself. The deputy attorney general has appointed a special counsel, Robert Mueller, who is busily hiring experts in money laundering.

A few days ago Mueller widened the scope of his inquiry to include a criminal investigation of the president. Bipartisan congressional committees are holding hearings.

The president himself has lawyered up, and now the vice president has lawyered up too.

Shaw, while they're all lawyering up we need to remember that they're boosting the silverware out the back door.

Of note recently:

1. He appointed his wedding planner to head the New York HUD program.
They call this "draining the swamp". Trump puts his shill in charge of New York real estate.
What could go wrong (for Trump)?

2. Betsy DeVos rolled back Obama's regulations on "for profit" college abuses.
Too late for Trump University. Making America great again

I'm sure there is so much more, he hasn't stolen everything.

Trump is such an embarrassment to the presidency. He makes you wish we had Bush back, and it really takes a lot of bad behavior to make Bush look good.

From G.G.:

"It's part of the Republican syndrome; that tendency to avoid looking for causes in favor of assigning blame to non-republicans as an act of self-absolution. So you see it was inevitable that one of them would assign blame for the Alexandria baseball diamond shooting to Barack Obama. He is, you see, to blame for the huge divisiveness in the country caused by their own reaction to him, their massive smear campaign that went so far over the border of slander we almost need a new name for the crime. Now we have Rep Steve King speaking out against the universal guilt of Obama: the prime mover, the First Cause of all evil. Of course we will have to wait for Republican Alex Jones to tell us whether that incident actually happened or whether Scalise is actually sitting on the beach at Juan-Les-Pins being tended to by 72 virgins or not, but in any event, any bad thing we can admit happened, happened because of Obama or Hillary. I wonder who we can blame for leaving the Republican barn door open so all that's left inside are the rats?"

Ducky, it's all hideous all the time in Trumplandia. The good news is that more and more Americans are on to his scams, lies, cover-ups, and dissembling. The syncophants in Congress still sucking up to him will abondon Trump when his approval dips below 30.

Your friends at the Mother Ship and elsewhere are blaming everyone but Lord Dampnut for his own blunders, stupidity, and lying. It will never cease to amaze me that so many millions of Americans fell for this scam artist. The good news is that American history shows that politicians who engage in bullsh*tting can go only so far, and then it disgusts the people who have to listen to it, and the people turn on the b.s.er.

Trump is drowing in investigations -- criminal investigations.

Oh.Just a reminder to the wingnuts who come here every day to read my blog:

Hillary Clinton is NOT under criminal investigation; Trump is under criminal investigation.

A little schadenfreude indugling.

"Condolezza" I wasn't a Bush fan, but I never saw him as a nasty, deceitful scam artist like the present POTUS.

"Tony D." Trump craves adulation. Thus that ignoble cabinet meeting where his lackeys had to kiss his ass. Trump must know that he does not have the support of the majority of Americans, just 30 percent dead-enders.

Ducky... what could go wrong with a wedding planner and an admitted unqualified boss heading up HUD?

I'm waiting for the Trump version of "heck of a job Brownie".

Impeccable qualifications, Dave

"A longtime associate of President Trump’s family, who organized golf tournaments on the president’s courses and planned his son Eric’s wedding, will soon oversee billions of federal dollars as the head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s New York and New Jersey office."

That about says it all. But Benasleep Carson recommended her so it must be okay.
I hope De Blasio can keep a lid on the shenanigans. But this is about as in your face as it gets.

Ducky, "But this is about as in your face as it gets."

It's about as Bannon-y as it gets. As a Leninist, his vow was to destroy the state. And what better way to accomplish that than to place total incompetents in key positions?

Remember when the rabid right whined that President Obama would "fundamentally change" America? Mr. Obama looks like George Washington compared with the maniac the rabid right supports.
